The Worldly Church, we see it broadcast daily into our homes, we witness the evil affects from its false witness, and many of us know people who are trapped in it. How do we reach out and help them to see the need to escape it?

Let’s first read the following text from Revelation 2:12-17.

“And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this:  ‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality. So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.’ ” NASB

He identifies their spiritual location, “where satan dwells”, and continues on with the sins that they willfully commit, the adherence to false teachings, idol worship, and immoral actions. These are serious accusations, and the only hope they have is repentance.

These are spiritually dead people, but they believe what they teach and do is  correct. How then do we reach them? We have to maintain the standard, sound biblical doctrine. Not only do we teach God’s Word, but we must demonstrate the Living Word to them, and live  a godly lifestyle that is biblically based, where compromise is taboo, but love, mercy and compassion abound towards the lost.

Remember what Romans 5:8 says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” And just as He loved us while we were still sinners, He loves others before they repent as well. But let it be clearly understood, we do not condone sin. It says in Romans 12:9, “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”

We don’t always know what others are going through, but God does. He understands the events that have led them to the place where they are. And if we are going to win these people to the Lord, we will have to lay aside self-righteous pride and be real.

God does not want these people to go to hell, and neither should we. After all, isn’t this the reason that He sent His son Jesus to this earth to redeem them from their sin? “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” (See John 3:16-17.) The key phrase here is that they “might be saved”, and the Lord is calling us to stand up and be a witness and speak the truth in love to these people before it is too late, because we are living in the last days, and the end is near.

Romans 10:14 asks us a few, but very poignant questions, How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?” Not all preachers wear special collars and stand in a pulpit every Sunday. And in fact, many of these people will no longer listen to one of these preachers, but they might just listen to what you have to say. The reason for the message in Revelation for the Worldly Church is that they might repent and be saved, before it is too late. If we truly believe we are living in the last days, then we will be about our Heavenly Father’s business and win souls, regardless of the evils they are involved in.

2 thoughts on “Be A Witness To The Worldly Church

  1. I have been baptised by the Holy Spirit and seen wonderful works of God in the past year. God has used me in healings and a few prophetic words. I am so excited and in awe of God’s very real power. However, people in my church have been very resistant to me because of this and I kind of think my pastor would not be very excited about what I’ve been experiencing. My fellowship group seems to only get together to drink and complain about their lives. I even sense there is intentional dark spiritual things at work in some people there. I want to leave, but should I stay to be a witness? I’ve have to seek out my “food” from sources outside of my own church. Any advice?

    1. Rachel, because of the times, end times, that we are now living in, there is a great departing of the faith. My strong advice to you is to depart from such an ungodly fellowship and seek a fellowship of true believers. Where they encourage and pray for one another in faith for people to receive their miracles, and where the Word of God, the Bible is preached without compromise. I hope this helps. Blessings, Becky
