Our Identity in Christ
Question: Andy asks, “Why is it important for us to understand who we are in Christ?”
Answer: If we do not know who we are in Christ then we cannot activate our authority over satan and all of his attacks against us. John 10:10 reveals satan’s identity and his wicked plans against us. He is called the thief, who comes to steal, to kill and to destroy.
Without the revelation of our true identity we are weak and vulnerable prey for our enemy (see page 97 in DARE to Believe). 1 Peter 5:8 warns us to “be sober and vigilant because our adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.”
In Genesis 1:26-28, Elohim (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) say, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over allthe earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” We are created in the mirror image of God, a little lower than Elohim (see Psalm 8:5-6), as Jesus is so are we in this world (see 1John 4:17), and we have been given all authority over satan and all of his wicked works (see Luke 10:19). Knowing who we are in Christ is of utmost importance to walk in victory. For a greater understanding of who we are in Christ purchase a copy of DARE to Believe and discover who you are.
