31 Identity Scriptures to Help You Overcome a Wounded Spirit

To help you heal from a wounded soul (mind and emotions) I have gathered together 31 Scriptures about who God says you are. I encourage you to read through these Scriptures daily. And even take it a step further, choose one Scripture from this list each day and pray to the Holy Spirit to help you to believe what God’s Word says about you and your identity in Jesus. Renew your mind with these 31 identity Scriptures and allow the power of His Word to heal you mind and emotions as you learn to believe who God says you are.

 

  1. I am created in His image.

Genesis 1:27 (NLT) So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.

    2. I am a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ISV) Therefore, if anyone is in the Messiah, he is a new creation. Old things have disappeared, and—look!—all things have become new!

    3. I am God’s masterpiece.

Ephesians 2:10 (ISV) For we are God’s masterpiece, created in the Messiah Jesus to perform good actions that God prepared long ago to be our way of life   

    4. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV) I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

    5. I am loved by God.

1 John 4:16 (NIV) And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

    6. I am valuable.

    7. I am more than a conqueror.

    8. I am chosen.

John 15:16 (NLT) You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

    9. I am redeemed.

Ephesians 1:7 (KJV) In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

    10. I am healed.

Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

    11. I am an ambassador of Christ.

      14. I am protected.

Isaiah 54:17 (GW) No weapon that has been made to be used against you will succeed.

      15. I am capable.

Philippians 4:13 (NIV) I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

      16. I am chosen, holy and beloved by God.

Colossians 3:12 (NASB) So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

      17. I am the work of God’s hand.

Isaiah 64:8 (NKJV) But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.

      18. I am a child of God.

1 John 3:1 (NKJV) Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

      19. I am rescued from the kingdom of darkness.

      20. My life is hidden with Christ.

      23. I am a fellow citizen with the saints, and of the household of God, and I have spiritual rights.

Ephesians 2:19 (KJV) Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.

     24. I am saved by faith in God’s grace.

Ephesians 2:8 (TPT) For by grace you have been saved by faith. Nothing you did could ever earn this salvation, for it was the love gift from God that brought us to Christ!

    25. I am a friend of God.

John 15:14 (GW) You are my friends if you obey my commandments.

    26. I am a living letter written by Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:3 (TPT) As a result of our ministry, you are living letters written by Christ, not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God—not carved onto stone tablets but on the tablets of tender hearts.

    27. I am a member of the body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:27 (AMP) Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body, and individually [you are] members of it [each with his own special purpose and function].

    28. I am an overcomer.

1 John 5:4 (NASB) For whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.

     29. I am strong and courageous.

Joshua 1:9 (ISV) I’ve commanded you, haven’t I? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be fearful or discouraged, because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

    30. I am adopted by God.

Ephesians 1:5 (KJV) Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.

    31. I am forgiven.

1 John 1:9 (KJV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
