Sometimes, God’s people feel overwhelmed about what the Bible has to say about end-times. And to add to this sense of feeling overwhelmed, some teachers and preachers who are confident in their teachings tend to overload their listeners with too much information at one time.
So, I believe in my spirit that I am to share tidbits of Scripture that are easy to digest concerning these latter days. So, please don’t get ahead of the plan. I ask that you read and ponder upon the Scripture, and I’ll add to it.
In Matthew 24:3, (NASB) we find Jesus and His disciples sitting on the Mount of Olives having a private conversation together. And they ask Him, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
He answers and says to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many.” (Matt. 24:4-5).
Therefore, we are to be careful as there are many that will, and already are trying to mislead, or deceive us. Let me ask you, “Is this already happening?” Yes, it is.
Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NKJV), “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” He is warning us that there are false prophets and false teachers and that their numbers are increasing in these last days, but they will appear to us to be of Christ. So, just because see or hear something amazing, does not mean it is of God.
Peter also warns us in 2 Peter 2:1-3 (NKJV), “But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.”
We are told to try the spirits in 1 John 4:1-6, John writes it like this, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”
We are to try the spirits, evaluate and judge them. We are the judge, and the message is the defendant. And the Holy Bible is our lawbook that we base our judgment upon. Does the message line up with the Word of God? There are only two choices, either the message is true or the message is false. Does the message line up with the lawbook, the Bible? Or do we have to compromise the truth of the Bible in an area to approve the message or the messenger?
Again, the first thing Jesus says when His disciples ask Him about the signs of the times, He warns them and says, “Do not be deceived.”
