If Jesus tells us that by His stripes (whippings) we are healed, then why is there this conflict about healing in the Church today? This is a good question, a real conflict within the Body of Christ, and the Bible has the answers for us concerning healing. First of all, let me share with you part of the answer to this question that I gave on a radio interviewed yesterday about my latest book, The Healing Creed.

Before I do, it is important for you to understand why the interviewer had me on his radio program. He shared that he grew up in a denominational Church that taught the Bible, but purposefully left out the part about healing. But when he had read the Healing Creed he saw without a shadow of a doubt that healing is biblical and it is for today. He was very excited with this newfound revelation in his life and invited me to be a guest on his program so that others could learn about healing as well.

Now, first and foremost, the reason for this conflict is that a major part of the Church does not teach what the Scriptures have to say concerning supernatural healing. And just as it says in Hosea 4:6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” These are very serious words, but for the sake of this lesson I want to dig into the meanings of these words in the beginning of this verse. God says His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. In Hebrew this word destroyed means to perish (damahStrong’s H1820).  And the verse goes on to say that they have rejected knowledge. This word rejected in Hebrew means to despise, refuse, reject, abhor, to become loathsome, (Strong’s H3988 – ma’ac). And what is this knowledge that God’s own people have despised, refused, rejected, abhorred and become loathsome towards? The Word of God, God’s law written down for us in the Holy Bible.

I ask you to take time and consider what has the Body of Christ become in these last days? A bunch of stiff-necked, rebellious children who no longer respect their heavenly father, who dishonor His word, and devalue the blood of Jesus. And because many of our leaders have forgotten the true purpose of their callings, and have abandoned the Word of God, and instead give a weekly pep talk, many of God’s people are perishing in spirit, soul, and in the physical body, and many families are being destroyed because of this impartation of human knowledge, instead of God’s life changing wisdom from His Word.

Like the radio interviewer shared he was raised in a Baptist Church and was never taught the truth in the Scriptures about God’s will to heal His people today. I am not getting down on the Baptist Church, they have done a tremendous work for the Kingdom of God, but they have missed it in this area of the power of the Holy Spirit to heal and set His people free. But truth sets people free, and when this Baptist man read the Scriptures concerning healing so much hope rose up within him for his own healing, and the healing of others around him. His wife is reading the Healing Creed now. And he ordered the book for a dear Christian friend, who in the natural is dying from cancer. Because he wants her to know she doesn’t have to die, but can believe God to heal her body and he wants her to understand what it means to believe, and how to activate faith in God for her healing.

A few weeks ago, I was ministering healing at a seminar in an Episcopal Church. At first, the priest was not so keen on the idea of me coming in, but because his people wanted me to come he invited me to come and teach them. And like the other man mentioned above, he was not taught the truth in the Scriptures that God wills to heal His people today, but when I presented the Word this priest could not deny the truth. And then when he witnessed people being delivered, healed, baptized in the Holy Spirit he jumped on board with the Lord and said, “Yes, this is real truth, and it is for today!” And he already signed up for another healing seminar in the Episcopal Church next year.

If we will teach the healing word of God from the pulpit once again, God’s people will not perish and die, but live, and live in God’s abundance like He intended for us to live.

John 10:10 records Jesus’ words, The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. The thief Jesus is referring to here is satan. And the devil is bent on our destruction, and he uses his mass weapons of destruction, sickness and disease to steal, to kill and to destroy us. But Jesus, Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals us, gave to us the power to heal in spirit, soul and in our physical bodies when He shed His precious blood for us at the whipping post in Isaiah 53:4-5. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Let’s end this conflict and teach and demonstrate the true power of the Word of God from the pulpit today.
