The Word tells us that we are healed by His stripes. In Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) we read that “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed”.

Time and time again, I witness the manifest power of the blood in this portion of Scripture. I can tell you firsthand, this message literally torments satan and his fallen angels (demons). It’s here where they encounter their defeat, and they shutter with fear when we hear its truth.

They witnessed this event through their own eyes of deception. Later when Jesus rose from the dead, the truth was revealed, and they knew they were defeated for eternity because of this historical event recorded in Isaiah 53:4-5.

This portion of Scripture is so powerful that in the Jewish faith today this chapter is skipped. Isaiah 52 and 54 are taught, but chapter 53 is not. But when they read or hear someone else read this chapter, they recognize it’s Jesus this chapter is speaking about. Think about that.

And because this chapter clearly prophesies what the Messiah, Yeshua, Jesus suffers to redeem us from (for all people) the devil fights hard to create controversy with this foundational truth. They realize that if they spread false teaching amongst the body of Christ concerning supernatural power of the blood of Christ to heal, people will be weak in the faith, powerless against their wicked attacks, bound by sickness and disease, tormented in their minds and emotions, and live in defeat. This will cause them to be ineffective with their witness to the lost.

Isaiah 53:4-5(AMP) But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, and He has carried our sorrows and pains;
Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken,
struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him,
And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.

Let’s dissect these verses and hear the truth from God’s Word.

He bore our griefs.

  • Bore = to bear, or to carry.
  • Griefs = sickness.

Yeshua bore / carried on His own body that sickness that is attacking your body.

He carried our sorrows.

  • Sorrows = physical and mental pain.

He bore / carried that hurt upon His own body for you, so that you can be free from it.

Yet, we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God.

  • Esteem = to make a judgement.
  • Stricken = plague.
  • Smitten = slaughter.

He was judged, plagued and slaughtered for our sin, sickness, and disease.

He was wounded for our transgressions.

  • Wounded = defiled.
  • Transgression = rebellion.

He was defiled for our rebellion.

He was bruised for our iniquities.

  • Bruised = to crush.
  • Iniquities = perversity / sin.

He was crushed because of our perversity / our sin.

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him.

  • Chastisement = discipline, correction.
  • Peace = welfare, health, prosperity, & peace.

He was disciplined for our welfare, our health, prosperity and peace.

By His stripes we are healed.

  • Stripes = bruise, stripe, wound.
  • Healed = to cure, heal, and make whole.

Jesus bore those healing whips upon His back for you, in your place, so that you can be cured, healed, and made whole again.

And what part do you play in this healing process? Believe, trust Him, allow Him to walk with you through this healing process. I hope this message helps you to understand that by His stripes we are healed.

  1. Hi Becky. Thank you for your teachings they are a source of encouragement, empowerment and inspiration to me. They bring hope when I am faced with a sickness or health challenge. They also equip me to help others learn and understand that healing is for them.

  2. Thank you Becky, I love this scripture. Thank you for explaining it more clearly. It becomes our ‘flesh’. Praise God for His word to us.

  3. I really believe that we are already healed by Jesus sacrifice. The leaders in the church I attend used to say that they are sick because God is sovereign. What can you say about this statement.
