There is Help to Overcome Anxiety

Do you struggle with anxiety and panic attacks? Do you feel overwhelmed? Does your world feel like it’s caving in on all sides at once? There is help to overcome anxiety. Look to Jesus. He’s the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He will never leave you, or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed because we focus on the problem, and in doing so we wind up magnifying our enemy the devil. When in reality, the things he whispers to us are just lies. In John 8:44, Jesus calls him the father of all lies. The devil takes the Scriptures and twists them, and he makes his lies believable to us; once we grab hold of his lies, then they can produce in our life. We are reminded by the words of God in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” We need to think about what we are dwelling upon–the promises of God or the lies of the devil.

When you feel the negative reports or circumstances are too much to bear, and you feel anxiety try to take control of your mind and emotions, slip away to a quiet place with the Lord. This does not need to be a physical place, but a spiritual one. You are instructed in Matthew 6:6 (NIV), “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

I have come to the realization over and over again that the more time I spend with God, the safer I feel in the security of His loving arms. And I encourage you, the next time you feel overwhelmed by life, choose instead to think about the following:

  1. Focus on the love Jesus has for you.
  2. Contemplate upon His mercy that He feels for you.
  3. Take comfort in the fact that He wills to protect you.
  4. Spend time with Him in prayer until His peace takes over in you.

Let’s pray.

Dear Holy Spirit,

I ask for Your help to overcome this anxiety controlling my mind and emotions. I desire to be free from this and walk in the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. Remind me with Your gentle nudge when I am entering into the realm of anxiety. I know that all things are possible with You, and I can’t do this without You. Thank You for being with me to help me walk in victory over anxiety, in the name of Jesus I pray, amen.

Help to Overcome Chronic Anxiety and Depression

Chronic anxiety and depression are running rampant among people today, even throughout the Church. One of my readers wrote me with the following request, “Becky, I need help for healing from chronic anxiety and depression.” I ask you now, you who hold this book in your hand, “Is this request too difficult for God?” You answer in your heart, “No.” Then let me ask you another question, “Is chronic anxiety and depression too difficult for the Christian to overcome?” Many struggle with this type of inner healing, but I remind you again, “With God…” not in your own strength, but with Him, all things are possible, even this situation is possible to triumph over.

And just how do you win over this type of attack of destruction? You win with God and with the power of the spoken word.

In Jesus’ name, that’s correct, with our God, Jesus Christ, with the power of His name, you use the authority of your words and verbally renounce the spirit of fear and depression. Again, with your vocal chords you command these evil spirits out and off of you. You decree with your voice a radical turn around in the way you see and hear things, the way you respond to others and even to the past. Use this Scripture, “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord” (Jeremiah 30:17).

Scriptures to Overcome Anxiety, Fear & Worry

woman-sufferingHave you ever heard anyone say that someone’s anxiety, fear and worry are just in their head? In reality these are more than just mere thoughts, feelings, and imaginations gone wild. Anxiety, fear and worry are spiritual weapons used by the devil to destroy us. And they do start in the mind, as the enemy whispers fearful lies into people’s spiritual ears. This is why it is of utmost importance that we pay attention to what we are thinking about. What is feeding our thoughts? The Spirit of the Lord warns us  in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 through Paul, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. We are to take every thought into captivity, we are to think about what we are thinking about. Be on the alert for doubt-filled thoughts that go against God and His Word.

2 Timothy 1:7 reveals to us what fear really is. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. God’s Word tells us that fear is a  supernatural being, it is a spirit, an evil spirit.

And He has given us authority over such beings and their supernatural activities, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you., Luke 10:19.

And 1 John 4:18 reminds us of the supernatural power of perfect love over fear, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

But as stated earlier, we have to take every thought into captivity. We need to exercise Christ’s authority in us over our thoughts of fear. In order to do so we need to accept the advice from Philippians 4:8-9, Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.We are to capture fearful, negative, ugly thoughts and bind them up with the Word of God. Renew our minds with God’s promises, And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, for you to prove what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.“, Romans 12:2.

Free yourself from worry about your daily needs. God is both able and willing to fulfill these needs for you,  Matthew 6:25-34 reads as follows, ““That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

With the redemptive power of the Lord overcome the fear of death. Hebrews 2:14-15 explains why we can be free from this fear, Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” And in Psalm 23:4 we are comforted by these well-known words, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

God’s Word has this to say about the fear of evil people in these last days in Matthew 10:28, And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.We need to keep this is the forefront of our minds during these uncertain times that our Lord Jesus Christ is greater than our enemy, satan. And in 1 Peter 3:13-14, And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?  But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” Psalm 118:6 promises us that,The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?Deuteronomy 31:6 encourages us with these famous words,Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

And here are more Scriptures to meditate upon to overcome anxiety, fear, and worry.

  •  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15.
  • Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Hebrews 13:5-6.
  • Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10.
  • For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’ Isaiah 41:13.
  • Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27.
  • Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9.
  • Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. Psalm 56:3.
  • Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 5:6-7.
  • In the multitude of my anxieties within me, your comforts delight my soul. Psalm 94:19.
  • Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. Psalm 55:22.
  • Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” Isaiah 35:4.
  • The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. Proverbs 29:25.
  • When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Proverbs 3:24.
  • The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. Psalm 34:7.
  • I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4.
  • As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” Mark 5:36.

My Spirit is Calling (A Prophetic Word)

The Lord God would say to you this day, “My Spirit is calling you to fast and pray, to seek Me with all your heart. For the times of the season are great and overwhelming for many. But I remind you that [Greater am I in you, than he that is in this world.]. My Spirit has been wooing you in the morning, in the noontime, throughout the day, in the evening, and even in the early morning hours when all is quiet and fast asleep. It is during this time spent with Me that your soul will be refreshed, strengthened and filled with My peace that does not come from this world, but is only found in My presence.

Press into Me during these turbulent times, push back against the darkness and be set free. Be free from worry and anxiety. Be delivered from a spirit of fear that wills to bind you up and hold you in bondage. But remember I am the bondage breaker, and I am the Key that unlocks the chains that have wrapped around you.

I paid a great price to deliver you from satan and all of his wicked works. Do not take My redeeming power for granted, but instead activate it, release it with the power of your spoken words. With your words call those things that are not as though they already happened, this is how the prophetic realm functions. And I need all of my followers to voice activate My power into the spiritual realm so it can change the physical circumstances around you.

I long for you to spend time with Me, and with Me you will be empowered by My grace to see you through these latter days. My children respond with a willing and obedient heart to the wooing, the calling of my Spirit to fast and to pray. Thus, sayeth the Lord to you this day.

Healing Confession of Faith from PTSD

With the constant onslaught of chaos and recent tragedies I sense in my spirit that it is time for me to write up a healing confession of faith from PTSD. So that you have spiritual help during a very deep and dark place you have found yourself this day. Take these words and pray them from your heart daily and allow the healing power of God’s promises to mend your broken spirit.

Father God, as David did in Psalm 18:6, “In my distress I call upon the Lord, and cry to my God for help.” (NKJV).

You say, “You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds,” (PS. 147:3, NKJV). So, in my great distress, I submit myself to Your healing promise that states, “You sent Your word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions,” (PS. 107:20, NKJV). Lord Jesus, I lay my burden down at Your precious feet, I can’t do this on my own, I need Your Steadfast love that never ceases, and your mercies that never come to an end,” (LAM. 3:22, ESV).

“Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to You I cry all day long,” (PS. 86:3, NKJV). You promise in Psalm 91:15, “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.” (NKJV) Oh Lord, I need this promise activated in my life. I have tried but can’t seem to get myself unstuck, I need You to “Lift me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire.” I also need You to, “Set my feet on a rock and give me a firm place to stand,” (PS. 40:2, NIV).

Apostle Paul writes in 2 Timothy 1:7 that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (NKJV). But in all honesty, I confess that I struggle with great fear, I feel powerless, and my mind is not sound at this time. I feel like I am back in that dark, dank prison that Paul was locked up in back in Rome. Although my prison may not be physical, I am bound up by invisible chains of flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, and uncontrollable thoughts about these horrific events that took place in my life. But despite these fears and feelings, I hear that You came to set the captives free, (IS. 61:1), and that You do not expect me to do this in my own strength, but by Your Spirit, (Zeph. 4:6), and as I confess these faults to others I can be healed, (JMS 5:16).

By faith I thank You that You will never leave me or forsake me, (DEUT. 31:6), You are with me in the waters, and in the midst of the fire, (IS. 43:2-3), and even when I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, (PS. 23:4). You are compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love towards me, (PS. 103:8). I am forever grateful that Your love for me is unconditional, and not based upon my behavior, (ROM. 5:8), and because You are with me, I can be strong, courageous, unafraid, and not discouraged, (JOSH. 1:9).

Help me, Holy Spirit to walk by faith, and not by sight, (2 COR. 5:7), comfort me, (JN. 14:26), remind me that when I feel weak, You remain strong, (Joel 3:10), empower me, (Acts 1:8), pray the will of God through me, (ROM. 8:26-27), teach me to edify and build myself up by praying in Your Spirit, (1 COR. 14:4).

Help me to renew my mind with Your healing Word, (2 COR. 4:16), to take every thought captive, (2 COR. 2:5), to choose my thoughts with care, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (PHIL. 4:8, KJV).

Enlighten me to Your truth, so that I can be free, (JN. 8:32). Help me to understand that I do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against demonic forces, (EPH. 6:12), and that it was satan who attacked me and my loved ones, to steal, to kill, and to destroy, (JN. 10:10), but You have given me all of Your authority over satan and his wicked works, (Luke 10:19). Teach me how to put on the full armor of God, so I am prepared for future battles with him, (EPH. 6: 10-18).

When I feel I can’t go on, Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth, I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (PS. 61:1-2, NKJV). Quicken to my spirit that, “Yet in all these things I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me.” (ROM. 8:37, NKJV). Give me the strength to always “Choose life”, (DEUT. 30:19), and to take comfort in the fact that You, Jesus came to give me life, and life in abundance. (JN. 10:10). In Jesus’ name, I pray this healing confession of faith from PTSD, amen.
