God’s Glory Can Shine on You too

Gabriel answers Mary’s honest question, “How can this be?” He says to her in Luke 1:35, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.” The Amplified Version of the Bible describes this overshadowing as “like a shining cloud”.

This is what happens when we activate our faith and believe in His promises. We allow His presence to come upon us, and overshadow us like a shining cloud. In Genesis 1:1-3, we read about this overshadowing when God creates the heavens and the earth. It says in verse 2 that the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, is hovering and brooding over the situation, and His glory  releases into the situation when the Father says in verse 3, “Let there be light”.  READ MORE.

God Can Handle Your Honest Question

Luke 1:34, “Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” This is Mary’s response to the most astounding news she receives from Gabriel, that she would give birth to Jesus, the Son of God.

Mary was a simple young girl, and yet she was chosen to carry out a great task of love for God.

Imagine how difficult news of this magnitude was to believe and receive. We would all wonder how this was possible. … READ MORE.

God Wills to Speak to You Prophetically

As we continue on with the real life account of the birth of Jesus we read from Luke 1:31-33, the prophecy that the angel Gabriel came to deliver to Mary. “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

What an amazing prophecy that Mary received. It forever altered the future. She was to become the earthen vessel that God would choose to supernaturally conceive, but physically carry and birth Jesus Christ into this earth. … READ MORE.

You Have Favor With God

The angel Gabriel comes down to Earth, appears to a young virgin girl named Mary to deliver an astounding message from God in Heaven. The message that he has to give is so amazing, even the greeting itself is perplexing to the young girl. And its this greeting that we are going to look at today.

How would you react if the angel Gabriel suddenly appeared to you and said, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”? And while you are trying to absorb what is happening he speaks again and say, “Do not be afraid, for you have found favor with God.” I would render to guess that most would be speechless. … READ MORE.

Pray For the Assistance of Ministering Angels

The Father sent His angel Gabriel to this earth to deliver a message to Mary that would change her life. Did you know that He still sends angels to this earth to minister to His people? The Bible says concerning these angels in Hebrews 1:14, “Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?” AMP

We need to learn to take the limits off of God, and allow Him to minister to us as He wills. Many believers are receiving angelic visitations from the Lord. … READ MORE.

God Has a Perfect Spiritual Gift for You

It’s that time of the year when many people are out shopping and searching for the perfect gift for family and friends. And I have to admit that I am no exception, and I enjoy shopping during the Christmas season, and get all excited when I find just the right gift for someone.

Today, I spent my afternoon looking at remote control cars for almost all the boys in the home. I had to explain to the clerk in the store that was helping me, that my husband and I have a children’s home and that was why I was purchasing so many remote control cars. I told her that I needed this brand of cars in the following colors and styles, and then for a few of the older boys I chose a different brand that was a bit more detailed and fragile, because they are mature enough to handle these gifts with care, and then I had to go to another brand that was on the heavy duty side, because two of the boys are a bit rougher on their things, and neither are detailed in their ways. So, by the time I chose all the remote cars, my cart was heaping full.

And while all of this is going on, there are 2 unruly boys, not mine, running around the store dodging customers. Actually one was zipping around on a bike, and the other a scooter they borrowed from the store. And when they passed by my cart, they stopped, turned around and asked me, “Are you buying all these toys?” I replied, “Yes, I am. My husband and I have a children’s home and these toys are for the children that live with us.” The curious one of the two then asked, “You got lots of kids?” I said, “Yes, I do.” He then asked me, “How many you got?” I looked him in the eye and replied, “Lots!” Then with his big, brown eyes he asks me, “Will you buy me a toy?” And you know, it’s not easy to turn down kids, especially when they are that hopeful. But with all sincerity, I explained to him, “Look, I am choosing these remote control cars for the boys in our home. I am sorry, but I can’t give you one of these gifts today.” He says, “O.K.” and he and his buddy race down the aisles again.

I share this with you today, because the Holy Spirit has just the perfect spiritual gift for you, and He takes pleasure and care to ready it for His child to open and use too. As you take note of my shopping spree this day, I bought a cart full of remote control cars, and even though they are all cars, each one is a bit different than the others. Just like my kids, each one is unique, they possess different abilities, likes and dislikes too. I tell you, I know my kids, I understand what they can handle, one likes to explore the great outdoors, and has a cheerful disposition, so he receives the yellow hummer, a number of the boys like all the bells and whistles that life has to offer, so I choose for each of them the cars with the flashing lights and sirens. Then I have the ones that are more developed in their life skills and can carefully handle fragile details, so I choose for them the fancy, little race cars with all the breakable parts, because I know they are able to handle such a responsibility. Then I’ve got two boys that are not detailed persons, are very rough with their possessions, so I need to choose a gift that is more rugged.

Let’s examine what is happening here.

  1. The boys do not choose their gift, I choose it for them.
  2. I choose the gifts according to their spiritual, emotional, and physical makeup.
  3. And I choose the gifts according to their readiness to care for the gift.

I believe the Holy Spirit has a similar criteria when handing out spiritual gifts to us too. First of all, we do not choose our own spiritual gifts, He chooses the gifts for us. He created us with supernatural DNA that compliments the body of Christ. And when He sees that we are mature in our faith He then releases the gifts.

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.” (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).

And do you remember from the shopping story that I shared with you that there were two unruly boys in the store, and they admired the gifts in my cart, and they even asked for me to give them a gift. But did they receive my gifts in the cart? No, they did not. Do you wonder why?

  1. They were not a member of my family.
  2. I observed that they were reckless with what they already had or were using.
  3. They were my gifts to give to whomever I willed, and I did not will to give these particular gifts to these 2 boys.

Now, don’t forget that God has a special spiritual gift for you, and is uniquely designed with you in mind, and it fits the way He created you perfectly.

Boldly Make Your Request Known

Are you timid when it comes to asking God for something you need or want? Does the Lord want you to be shy with Him? Or should you come to Him with boldness?

The other day I asked one of our new girls in the home what she would like for Christmas. She quietly whispered, “A little bag of chips.” I said, “No, I’m not going to give you a snack size bag of chips for Christmas.” She didn’t know how to respond, so I asked her if she would like a toy, or a doll. She lit up on the inside, which turned to a big smile on the outside when she heard me suggest a doll. And said, “Yes, I want a doll!” Needless to say, you know what she is getting for Christmas.

But this got me to thinking about how and why we respond to our Lord sometimes. Just like Estefani and I  were walking hand in hand, just talking together. God wants to do the same with us. Yes, He wants to take you by the hand, and walk with you, talk with you, and just be with you.

And I can just envision Jesus saying to us, “Say, you know what? We are about to celebrate Christmas, the day you remember My birth. And I want to do something real special. I want to bless you. What would you like to have?”

And many of God’s people act like shy, little Estefani and do not know how to come boldly before His throne of grace and make their petitions known. Hebrews 4:16, sends out the following invitation to us, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” And Philippians 4:6 also says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

Don’t be afraid to ask God for what you have need of, or for the desires of your heart. He wants to bless you above and beyond that which you can even possibly think or imagine. See Ephesians 3:20.

Let’s face it, God is a giver. John 3:16 says that God so loved the World that He gave … He loves to give us good gifts, (See James 1:17.), like Salvation, the Holy Spirit, healing, deliverance, wisdom, and provision to name just a few of the most important ones. And He’s asking you, “What can I give you today, that will bless you?”

Maybe you’re even more like little Estefani, and you’ve never had someone demonstrate how much they really care. And you are uncomfortable with the fact that He loves you. God wants to take you by the hand and show you how to trust him, and how to be confident in His goodness towards you. He desires to embolden you with the power of faith, so that you will not hesitate to run directly to His throne of grace anytime you want.

Jesus doesn’t want you to miss out on any of His benefits that He so generously lavishes upon us. He’s the Giver of life, see Genesis 2:7, everlasting life,  see John 3:16, and abundant life too, see John 10:10. And He’s asking you, “What can I give you today that will bless you, I mean really bless you?”

Do You Believe?

Do you believe in the power of faith to receive miracles? Or does your human reasoning resist God’s supernatural ways? Do you readily surrender to His Spirit? Or do you lock arms against Him?

There are many Christians today that believe in Jesus, but they don’t believe Him. They believe just enough to receive eternal life in Heaven, but shun abundant life while on this earth. And then they wonder where is God in their time of need.

For  a large sector of God’s people it is more comfortable for them to say this sickness and disease come from God, then to trust in His word and declare, “by His stripes we are healed”.

Many would rather live a precarious spiritual life, then abide in the safety of the Almighty. But when calamity comes, and it does come on this fallen earth they shake their fist at God and ask, “Why?”

Jesus’ words are very clear when He says, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.” Matthew 21:21.

And He commissions us with these words, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18.

He says to the woman with the issue of blood, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Luke 8:48.

Jesus challenges Jairus concerning his daughter who died, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” Luke 8:50.

And he said to the blind man, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” Luke 18:42.

To have faith in God is to believe, and to believe is to trust Him. You can trust Him, even when it does not make sense to do so. But when you do, you activate His supernatural power and the miraculous invades your natural realm, and that miracle you so desire comes to pass. It’s time to not just believe in Him, but to believe Him.

How to Remain Faithful

We live in an unfaithful world, even God’s people struggle to remain faithful nowadays. But that does not mean we need to join the ranks of the unfaithful. But how can we remain faithful when many around us are falling from the faith? How do we remain faithful in an unfaithful world?

Our ability to remain faithful in an unfaithful world was so important to Jesus that He prayed the following for His disciples, including you right before He was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane. I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.  I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.  Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.” (John 17:14-19.)

First of all, in this portion of Scripture He gives us the key, we are not of the world. We live on this earth, but we are not to be of its sinful ways. But we are to sanctify ourselves with the washing of His Word, see Eph. 5:26.

He continues on with His prayer to the Father, I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.So often, Christians pray to the Father, “Take me home.” But this is not how we are to pray to escape trials and tribulations. We are to pray as Jesus does, “Father, keep them (me) from the evil one.” As I meditate upon this portion of Scripture it reveals that there is a purpose for us to be on this earth. We are to be about our heavenly Father’s business and win the lost, but if we do not sanctify ourselves in the Word the world will win us over with their sinful ways.

Not only are we to pray, “Father, keep me from the evil one and his ways.” But we are to say no to temptations. How do we accomplish this, especially when the temptations are increasingly stronger in these last days? James teaches us the spiritual plan to victory in every situation in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

  1. We are to submit ourselves to God. Submit in Greek is “hypotássō”, G5293, and it means to obey:—be under obedience (obedient), put under, subdue unto, (be, make) subject (to, unto), be (put) in subjection (to, under), submit self unto. In other words, we are subdue our human will, our fleshly desires, and put ourselves under the authority of God. You may think this is not possible. It is. Why? Because when Jesus walked this earth, He left His God powers in Heaven, and walked this earth just as we do. And because He was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin, we can now overcome temptations as well, see Heb. 4:15. But first, we have to give up our human will, and surrender to the Father’s will, just like Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane when He sweat great drops of blood for us, see Luke 22: 41-44.
  2. Then we are to resist the devil. This word “resist” in the Greek language is “anthístēmi“, G436, and it means to set one’s self against, to withstand, oppose. Remember, we have been given all authority over satan and all of his wicked works, see Luke 10:19. We’ve been given spiritual armor according to Ephesians 6:10-20, which includes a shield of faith to quench all of satan’s fiery darts, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And just as Jesus overcame temptation that evening in the Garden of Gethsemane to run away from His destiny, which was to be slaughtered for our redemption by praying for Himself, we too are to do the same. Pray to the Father, thank Him for giving to us His Holy Spirit, and the supernatural gift of tongues to pray and edify, build ourselves up when we are weak in faith, see 1 Cor. 14:4.
  3. When we faithfully activate God’s spiritual plan of victory we turn the tables and the devil will flee from us. And this word flee in Greek is pheúgō, G5343, means to run away to escape us.

And this is how we remain faithful in an unfaithful world. And being faithful has an everlasting promise for us, the faithful Church in Revelation 3:8-10, “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.  Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
