The Power of Unity Heals

There is spiritual power released when people join together in unison to accomplish a task. It does not matter whether the purpose is for good or for evil–supernatural power is released, and dreams and visions come to pass, and miracles happen.

Do you remember the historical event recorded in Genesis 11: 1-9 called the “Tower of Babel”? Why were these people able to accomplish the vision of the tower? Because they were in unity, the people were of the same mindset, and they spoke the same language, and they put their faith into action. Even though, the motives of their hearts were wrong, (they wanted to build a name for themselves), they were able to accomplish a great feat. This act was so great that it caught the attention of the Lord, and so the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit went down to see the great city and the great tower they had built.

Now, like I mentioned earlier, the power of unity works both ways. It can accomplish good or evil. Let us focus on the good that it can produce. It says in Matthew 18:18-20, “Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

There is another historical, yet supernatural event recorded in Joshua 6, where God gives a seemingly ridiculous plan to overtake the City of Jericho. The plan involved the power of unity, faith in action and the spoken word. Joshua and the Israelites did as the Lord commanded them and they supernaturally overpowered Jericho.

I want us to take these historical events and learn from them and put the lessons that they teach us into practice today. More specifically, I desire that we learn how to operate in the power of unity and together fight off our enemy, satan, and build a strong tower of faith in the redemptive work of Christ around our family and friends who are battling against premature death, sickness and disease. This is possible.

In unison we can use the power of our spoken words and intercede on the behalf of our loved ones. We can take our authority over premature death and disease, speak life, healing and recreation into their mortal body. We can pray in the Spirit daily. We can personalize and speak healing Scriptures over them and call forth the healing by the power of the spoken Word of God.

Together, we can take turns and visit them everyday and read God’s Word concerning healing. The Book of Luke is a great place to start. It is filled with supernatural healing and miracles. We can also share exciting healing testimonies to stir their faith and to encourage them that all things are possible, even their healing.

When we band together, our faith will arise as our faith-filled prayers are lifted up to the throne of grace. And as we become unified in the faith for healing we will expect nothing less than a miraculous report of divine healing. Matthew 18:19 confirms this unified plan, “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.”

Satan Covets Your Blessings

I had the oddest experience today that got me to thinking about how the enemy covets our blessings. I was shopping in the woman’s department at a local store. I found the perfect skirt, blouse and blazer outfit needed for my next ministry trip to Tanzania.

  • It was the right fabric for the hot and humid weather,
  • It was a great color for me.
  • It was very versatile.
  • It was able to pack well.
  • And it would wash and wear easily.
  • It was one of a kind, not another one like it on the racks.
  • And the price was great.
  • It’s as if God fashioned the outfit for my needs and desires.

I placed the outfit in my cart, and continued shopping. But while I was browsing the racks, I noticed another woman nearby that was getting a little bit too close for comfort. I brushed it off, figuring she was real focused on her shopping and didn’t realize how close she was to me.

I turned aside to check out a blouse, when all of a sudden this woman came up from behind me and pushed me into the clothing rack and stole the dress from my shopping cart and ran off!

In all honesty, I was taken off guard, flustered, and couldn’t get out of that store fast enough. Once back in the car with my kids and good friend that accompanied me I started to detox my spirit and soul from the ugly greed of someone that would do such a thing.

But then I got to thinking about how our enemy, satan comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy us, see John 10:10. And my thoughts went deeper than just his thieving, murderous, and destructive behavior against us, but to the real motives behind his wicked attacks against us.

Let’s look back to the woman at the store today. She didn’t try to steal my purse hanging over my shoulder which possessed the provision, my money to purchase this outfit. She coveted the blessing in my basket, the outfit itself. And so much so, that she did not care how unbecomingly she behaved to get it. She pushed me aside and nabbed it from me.

This is exactly how the enemy behaves, and the true reason behind his behavior. He covets our spiritual attire, God’s glory. He’s jealous of what God has fashioned for us. He sees how God has uniquely designed our ministry attire, and he wants it. And he will stop at nothing to try and swipe it from us.

Christians often look at ministry attire as being a part of the 5 fold ministry, but whether you realize it or not, all of God’s people are called to the ministry of reconciliation, see 2 Corinthians 5:18. And it might just be your blessing of healing that he wants to nab from your basket to try to prevent you from shining hope to the sick and hurting around you. Perhaps, your healing already manifested, but he tries to steal your testimony by putting lying symptoms back on you. Maybe he tries to steal your witness by attacking your marriage.

What blessing is satan trying to rob you of? And more importantly, what can you do about it? Plenty!

  1. Repent of sin, if you need to.
  2. Pray in the perfect will of the Father as you pray in the Spirit.
  3. Declare the power of the blood of Jesus Christ over you and your family.
  4. Put your faith into action, and do what God is calling you to do.

Doing these 4 things alone will help you to recover from the attack of the enemy, and cause your spiritual attire to shine for the advancement of the kingdom of God.

The Starting Point of Your Miracle

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” –Genesis 1:1

In Genesis 1 we read about the beginning of the creation of the earth, for the preparation of the start of the human race. We also learn in the first verse from this book of beginnings the key element to the commencement of any miraculous event; God.

Again, in the New Testament in John 1:1-3, the Scriptures confirm that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” Jesus is the Word of God personified the Father’s perfect revelation of Himself in the flesh. And He was present and had an active part in the creation of the earth.

Let’s take and apply the light of this truth to our situation today. In order for the creation of our miracle to begin, we need to first activate Jesus Christ, the miracle worker in our life now. Let’s pray.

Dear Jesus,

I believe in Your redemptive power that You gave to me through Your blood at Calvary. I recognize the fact that in the beginning of my miracle I need You. And with faith-filled words, I release your miracle working power in my life, so that my miracle can begin.

In Your name I pray, amen.

Be Strong in the Lord

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”— Eph. 6:10-18.

The key to this portion of Scripture is in verse 10: “Be strong in the Lord.” How do we become strong in the Lord? By developing our relationship with the Lord—going beyond salvation and becoming His friends. We begin to develop our knowledge in the Word concerning healing. But it’s not enough to just study the Word; we need to put it into action on a daily basis. And lastly, we need to put on the whole armor of God, not just the part that we are comfortable or familiar with. Let’s learn to use them and apply them to every situation.

Gird your waist with truth. Wrap yourself in God’s truth that He is not only able, but that He also wills to heal you, see Luke 5:13.

Breastplate of Righteousness. Oftentimes, God’s people do not feel they are good enough to be healed. And they are right we will never be good enough, but the God’s healing promise is not based upon our behavior, but upon the obedience of Christ who was whipped so that we can be healed in Him, see Isaiah 53:4-5.

Shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. With extreme situations, such as death reports from incurable diseases, our mind and emotions war against the Word of God. And it can be difficult to find peace. The main reason for this is because the peace we need doesn’t come from this world. It’s not found in the emotional realm, but in the manifest presence of God, see John 14:27.

Shield of Faith. When we are in a raging battle for our health, or the health of a loved one we can’t forget about our faith. We’ve all been given a measure of faith to use in everyday life. Faith is not a feeling, it is an actual substance. It is what we stand on when there are no feelings. God created this world by faith, and He created us to be like Him and gave us supernatural weapons to use, such as faith, see Romans 12:3.

Helmet of Salvation.  Salvation is more than eternal life with Jesus, it’s for the here and now as well. This word, “salvation” comes from the Greek word, “sozo”, and includes healing for the spirit, soul, and body. See Acts 2:21.

Sword of the Spirit. This sword is supernatural, and its power is limitless. It’s the Word of God, and it is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart, see Heb. 4:12. And when we speak it out wisely we destroy the works of satan, and release the healing power of the Holy Spirit, see Prov. 18:21.

No matter how long it takes, no matter what others may say, we must persevere and move forward with God and His Word. The enemy’s grip will start to loosen up, and when it does, we must not let our guard down, but remain strong in the Lord, push all the harder and we will win! Then our desired healings will manifest in Jesus’ name.

Being Patient for Healing

It always amazes me how people are willing to wait for an antibiotic to work its healing into the body, but when it comes to the healing line, if they do not see an immediate result they give up and say that this healing stuff just doesn’t work. Let’s talk about the importance of being patient for healing.

James admonishes us when he says, “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand (James 5:7-8).

As Christians, we need to learn to cultivate this fruit of the Spirit, patience in our lives, and remain patient, being fully persuaded that we will receive our miracles from God. Perhaps, along with the healing, God desires to develop in us a character of strong faith that can endure the test of time.

Consider this example from James about the farmer. He waits patiently for harvest time. But while waiting patiently (not being full of doubt and fear of crop failure), he waters and fertilizes the desired harvest even though he does not see any results in the very beginning. He’s confident that if the conditions are right he will reap a bountiful harvest.

We need to see ourselves as the farmer and our desired harvest is our miracle. Just like this farmer, we need to exercise patience and water and fertilize our seed of faith that has been planted in our hearts with words of hope, expectancy, and thankfulness for His faithfulness to us and our needs. And sometimes we need to be willing to pull a few weeds of doubt and unbelief from the soil of our hearts with repentance so that our desired harvest will not be choked.

Why would patience be important for our healing to manifest? Think about how people respond to situations when they are impatient. They become disappointed, depressed, irritable, and they become very loose with their words. Remember, our words have the power to create or to destroy, see Pr. 18:21. And in this case, words spoken out of impatience are very negative. So, you stunt the growth of your healing when you speak negatively. Which will cause the manifestation of your healing to take longer, or even kill it all together.

Along with speaking words of faith, we need to put our faith into action and plan for and expect to harvest our miracle. We need to use the power of our God-given imagination and allow ourselves to plan what we will do when our miracle manifests.

In the natural, this farmer would not harvest his crop if all he did was talk to the seeds, and neglected to water, weed, and fertilize his garden. It’s the same for us, we must put action behind our words of faith. And quite frankly, if we don’t activate our faith, we don’t believe, and will not reap our healing.

When is the last time you allowed yourself to imagine with God your healing manifested? What would you do? Well, it’s time to imagine yourself healed, speak like you are healed, and act like you are healed.

I guess you could say that miracles can be compared to plants; some take longer to grow and to develop than others. And this is why we need patience, so that we can harvest our healings.

Draw Near to God

In yesterday’s devotional we read how to fulfill James 4:7 when healing takes time to manifest. It says, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Today, we are going to talk about the importance of drawing near to God during this crisis of sickness and disease.

James 4: 8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your heart, you double minded.”

We are to:

  • Draw near to God.
  • He will then draw near to us.
  • And we are to sanctify ourselves.

When we choose to draw near to God, we make the decision to give Him first place in our lives, instead of the problem we are facing, and to develop a holy, intimate relationship with Him. This goes on beyond the realm of salvation or even seeking His blessings. This is entering into true fellowship with Him. In order to enter into fellowship with Him, we need to be willing to deny ourselves of ungodly desires, sins, and even self. Sin and self, separate us from God; that’s why it says to purify our hearts. God perceives the intentions of our heart; a rebellious heart repels Him, but a pure and undefiled heart toward Him is very alluring and desirable. He will draw near to a tender heart.

God’s purpose in creating humankind in His mirror image was to have fellowship with beings like Him. We can draw as close to Him as we desire to. The more we enter into His presence, the more real He becomes to us. He becomes the One we run to first with all of our joys and sorrows. We will find ourselves communing with Him throughout the whole day about everything. And He will speak to us in our dreams and give us visions. We will find such a strong fellowship with Him in His Word, which will become so alive to us. This type of encounter with him is exciting. This is the cure for doubt and unbelief. It’s in this place that the manifested presence of God and His blessings, such as healing will start to overtake us.

How to Walk Out a Progressive Healing

Many people struggle to know how to respond when their healings do not manifest immediately. Here are some keys to walking out these progressive healings.

  1. Submit and Resist.

James 4:7 gives us the first key, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

  • Submit to God.
  • Resist the devil.
  • The devil will flee from you.

Submission is a matter of the heart; it’s having the right attitude toward God and His Word. We can obey God and still not be submissive because obedience is an act, while submission is an attitude. Resisting is also a matter of the heart. In this case it’s a decision to refuse to surrender to the enemy’s thoughts of doubt and unbelief toward God and His Word. When we submit to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us.

A Personal Testimony

I was in Lilongwe, Malawi stepping off the bus to walk to healing campaign to minister healing to the people. But as soon as my foot touched the ground an excruciating pain shot through my knee along with many other symptoms. The closer I came to the platform the worse it became. The symptoms of the people started to jump all over my physical body.

I immediately cried out to God in my heart for His strength and healing from all the symptoms of pain and sickness that suddenly came upon me. And as I taught the Word, and declared to the people the specific healings according to the symptoms that manifested on my body the people were healed and the symptoms left my body as well. Everyone, except for one, my knee.

What did I do?

I did not exalt the enemy by voicing this attack with moans and groans and telling everyone that came into my presence about the pain I was in. Instead, I continued to thank the Lord that He was my healer. Was this difficult? Yes.  But it was a quality decision that released my healing.

When my husband heard my bone rubbing on bone and asked me if that was my knee, I answered him, “In Jesus’ name, my knee is healed.” The Bible is very clear that we are to declare things that are not as though they already are. Romans 4:17 says, “(as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;”

This is faith talk. And many Christians seem to have a problem with this. Some say it is lying. No, it’s using the creative force of the tongue that God has given to us. Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” It’s putting trust in God’s promise to heal us, and not in the pain and sickness.

It sounds radical I know. But it is exactly how our God is, and how He operates. And He instructs us in and throughout His word to do the same.

I could have easily given into this physical attack on my body. My five senses and human reasoning were warring against my confession of faith for the healing of my knee. The enemy didn’t want me healed, so he fought me. Other people were questioning me because they could hear bones rubbing against one another as I walked. But I chose to be like Abraham in Romans 4 and did not exalt the enemy’s evil or the pain, but declared the glory of my healer, Jesus Christ.

It took a few days, but with each pain-filled step I thanked the Lord that my knee was healed, and my cartilage was recreated, every bone, muscle, ligament, tendon and nerve in my knee was brand new for the glory of my God.

With every step I resisted the curse of the enemy. He grew weary of my persistence to submit to God and to trust in His healing promise, and he gave up. He released his grip on my knee. He fled from me, and the recreation of my knee manifested.

This is how we walk out James 4:7, and submit to our God, resist our enemy, the devil, and see him flee from us, and witness our miracle manifest.

Rebuilding Spiritual Foundations

Many people have been hurt by religious theology, fallen Church leaders and other backslidden Christians, or by painful circumstances that have left their lives in ruins. Because of these experiences they are bitter toward God and do not want anything to do with the Church. So, we are going to talk about the need to rebuild spiritual ruins, look at some of the main causes for the spiritual deterioration and see how to rebuild and restore trust and hope in the lives of these people.

First of all, compromise and corruption within the Body of Christ have weakened the basic foundation of faith. As a result, many struggle to trust God. It is time to rebuild this foundation. It says in Isaiah 58:12, “Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.”

Jesus Christ repaired the breach that existed between us and our heavenly Father, in 2 Corinthians 5:18 He has called us to be ministers of reconciliation: “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.”

Now, more than ever, we need to take serious the ministry of reconciliation that Jesus calls all believers to and repair the breach. The only way to build up these old waste places is to restore trust between the lost and our witness. Put aside vain religious philosophy, all forms of ungodliness, repent and get real with Jesus so that others may know there truly is a God in heaven who cares for them.

Ask yourself, “Am I willing to rebuild a spiritual foundation for my own life, and for the lives of those around me? Am I willing to be used by God and enter into the ministry He has called me to, the ministry of reconciliation?”

Let’s pray.

Dear heavenly Father,

We ask You to forgive us for being religious in our spiritual walk, for being calloused in our hearts toward You, for being filled with the things of this world but empty in our spirits and void of hope for others. Help us to be living testimonies for Your glory, which draw and woo people to You. May we take serious our call to be witnesses to the lost, to be tools in Your hands to repair the breach and to mend the violations of mistrust that we have caused in others. May we be Christians who act out what we say we believe and walk in the miraculous so that the world may know You are the one, true God.

In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Fear Paralyzes Words of Faith

Today, we are going to take a unique look at fear, what fear does, and how it prevents the manifestation of the healing power of the Lord.

A friend of mine was stung 7 times by a scorpion. The first thing that happened to her was that her tongue became swollen and paralyzed. Then this venom worked its way down her arm and side, and both were paralyzed and her body was in extreme pain.

Fear is like this venomous scorpion sting that stung my friend. Fear first paralyzes the tongue, and then it affects the rest of the body. Why?

In Proverbs18:21 it says that LIFE and DEATH are in the POWER of the tongue. Your tongue possesses a power. What is this power? It is the power of the spoken word. Words have the power to create or to destroy.

This is why fear, first and foremost, paralyzes the creative power of the tongue. If you receive the injection of its venomous poison into your spirit, you will begin to speak failure, destruction and even death. And by the power of your own tongue, that which you speak will be produced.

In the incident with my friend, her tongue was paralyzed, she needed someone to come and speak words of healing over her body. I did this, and immediately she was set free from extreme pain and the swelling and the paralysis left her body.

Another testimony about a young man that became very ill and was in a lot of pain. It was discovered that he had a cancerous tumor. He shared what happened to him when the doctors came into his hospital room to give him the bad report. He said that as he heard the death report, he could not speak. It was as if he had swallowed poison. What did he really swallow? He swallowed fear. He accepted this death report into his spirit and immediately started meditating and speaking death.  It took others to speak words of healing into his life in order for his faith to be encouraged to the point that he accepted the words of faith and started to speak them for himself.  And once he started to speak faith-filled words of healing, health and life his miracle manifested and the cancerous tumor disappeared.

It is of utmost importance that we refuse to accept the venomous poison of fear into our spirit, that we do not allow fear to paralyze the power of our tongue and that we choose our words wisely and speak faith-filled words of life and healing.

Spiritual Ways to Combat Depression

I received a letter the other day from a woman asking for help to overcome depression, especially during the summer months coming up when she is not working outside of the home. Let’s look to God’s Word for spiritual help to combat depression.

Ephesians 5: 18-19 warns us, “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,” and again in Colossians 3:16 again admonishes us, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

First of all, it says in Ephesians 5:18, “be not drunk with wine”. Oftentimes, when people are suffering from depression they turn to alcohol, drugs, anti-depressants, food, pornography… These and other things are temporary highs, but they cannot fix the problem causing the depression. God is your only answer.

Here are 6 spiritual ways to combat depression that can help you.

  1. Become Born-Again. This is where we are to begin. If you are not already a Christian, it is time to become born-again. John 3:3 tells us, “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” God and His kingdom ways are filled with hope, new beginnings, and victory in Christ.
  1. Look to Jesus. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Joy will come when we keep our eyes on Jesus.

This word, “look” means to turn the eyes away from other things and fix them on something, and in this case it means to fix our eyes on Jesus. (Strong’s G872 – aphoraō). When we focus on Jesus, the things of this world lose their grip on us, and Jesus becomes our stronghold.

  1. Be baptized with the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 4:4 shows us how to encourage ourselves, He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” When we pray in tongues, it edifies and builds us up. This is a very important tool that needs to be taught to the whole body of Christ. Imagine how a spirit of depression would flee from the Church!
  1. Think godly thoughts. It says in Philippians 4: 9-10, Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” The next time you hear yourself thinking negative thoughts ask yourself, “Is this thought pure, lovely, good news, virtuous, or praiseworthy?” If not, purposefully change the theme going on in your mind.
  1. Renew your mind. In order to think godly thoughts you are going to have to renew your mind with God’s thoughts. Romans 12:2 puts it this way, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

  6. Singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Our opening Scriptures from Ephesians 5:18-19 and from Colossians 3:16 talk about singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. And this is our last point we will cover in today’s message.

The Bible has a lot to say about the power of songs, words put to music, for example a psalm of praise sung by Moses and the Israelites after they passed through the Red Sea, and then Miriam and the women continued on with song and dance.

Songs of praise to our God have a way of lifting our spirits that puts smiles on our faces, joy in our hearts, and even sets our feet to dancing.

When joy is always difficult to find in life, then it is more than disappointing or hurtful circumstances causing the depression. And would be a spirit of depression over you. One way for deliverance from a demon of depression is by prayer and fasting that I have discussed in other blog posts. See “Do You Need a Breakthrough?” I would also recommend that you see a Christian counselor nearest you.
