Training in Righteousness

Training in righteousness, although not a popular concept in today’s lawlessness, Holy Spirit found it necessary to pen this message through the hands of Paul to Timothy for our benefit.

All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; 2 Timothy 3:16 (AMP).

As I read through this chapter from the Amplified Version of the Bible, (2 Timothy 3) and I strongly encourage you to do the same I find this purpose for God’s Word striking. And if possible, read it in this version, and allow its wordiness to sink in a bit. Throughout this portion of Scripture, he prophesies to us what it will be like in these latter days. And his prophetic writing is spot on.

But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times [of great stress and trouble] will come [difficult days that will be hard to bear]. For people will be lovers of self [narcissistic, self-focused], lovers of money [impelled by greed], boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane, [and they will be] unloving [devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane], irreconcilable, malicious gossips, devoid of self-control [intemperate, immoral], brutal, haters of good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of [sensual] pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of [outward] godliness (religion), although they have denied its power [for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith]. 2 Timothy 3: 1-5, (AMP).

I don’t know about you, but I find all this ungodly behavior going on around us stressful, and it’s troublesome to my soul. I know the end result of sin is death, eternal death, and that God does not desire this for anyone, but it is a decision that all need to make. Will we choose to live a sinful lifestyle and bear the consequences of this decision (hell), or will we choose to “live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately–behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage”? If you choose the latter, to live in conformity to God’s will then we have His training manual in our hands–His Word.

So, next time we grab our bibles, let’s look at it in a new light. Let’s take hold of its message as our training manual to live in His righteousness, His godly ways, to free us from the stress and trouble from all of this world’s profanity, and to keep ourselves protected from this world’s infection–sin.

Let’s pray.

Father God, I thank You for Your God-breathed Scriptures that You so graciously gave to us to overcome the stress and trouble of this sinful world around us. You knew that we would pass through a time of lawlessness, and that it would be difficult to bear. But as always, You are faithful to us, and You have supplied us richly with Your Word to train us in righteousness even during such perverse times. We thank You, Holy Spirit to lead and guide us, you show us how-to live-in conformity to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, we thank You, amen.

Prayer for Revival

With all the turmoil throughout the world we can plainly see that there is a great need for true revival. And this type of revival only begins within the hearts of the people. And it specifically begins with the people of God, and then flows to the lost. Let’s begin to pray this prayer for revival for a mighty move of God.

You promise in Second Chronicles 7:14 that “If My people who are called b My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

We cry out for forgiveness for being stiffed-necked and rebellious toward You and Your ways. We admit that we have walked away from Your Word and from Your ways of holiness. Jesus, we have crucified You again and again by our willful acts of sin, As the Church in general, we have lowered the bar and have matched our standards with that of this world.  We have made a mockery of the most sacred and central doctrines of the Church. Holy Spirit, we have grieved You, and we have lost our way, lead us back to the Way, the Truth and the Life.

We desire a spiritual bath, like no other time of cleansing we have ever experienced before. No matter how much it hurts, reveal the spots and wrinkles so we can remove every hint of stain and rid ourselves of even the slightest wrinkle. We desire to make ourselves ready for You, our soon and coming Bridegroom.

We have been selfish in the giving of our time, finances, and other resources. We pledge to do our part and take care of the orphans and the widows in their time of need. Forgive us; we will clean up our act and do the work of the ministry, and not burden our leaders with all this business so they can devote themselves to the study of the Word and prayer.

As Your people, we humble ourselves and ray for our brothers and sisters in Christ, both young and old, who live near and far, who are weak in the faith–that Your Spirit of conviction will hover over them and not let them go. Daily woo them to a place of repentance and in right standing with You. Bring the people who will capture their attention in such a way that they listen. May they make amends with Yu and others they have hurt. And may they grow in the faith, through the Word and by the Spirit, and become all that You destined them to become for Your glory and purposes.

We pray for the leaders of this land, whether we voted for them or not, that they may come to know You as Savior and follow after Your ways in both their personal and public lives. And may they make decisions based upon Your agenda and not that of their own.

Again, we ask for Your forgiveness and this time for entering into the hate speech of this world, we know better, and are reminded that faith only operates by love, and one way we show love to others is with our words, we have completely missed it in this and have stopped our own miracles and those of our family and friends as well. We vow to make a 180-degree turn and we will not be instruments of satan’s hate, but that of Your love.

May the leaders in the church rise above the atmospheric pressures of this world and bow on bended knee before You. May they study to show themselves approved onto You, workers who do not need to feel shame. And may they preach the truth of Your Word with all boldness and lead the people to You and to Your righteousness.

We lift up the marriages within our churches, that these couples will choose to love and cherish one another and walk daily in the arena of forgiveness.

May the children be won back to You and surpass our generation spiritually in the name of Jesus. May they hear and obey Your voice and witness Your mighty hand upon their lives.

Forgive Your people of our land of the murderous thoughts and intentions and actions they have committed, from the abortion of their own flesh and blood, to assisted suicides.

Forgive those for vile sexual acts. help these lost individuals find their way back to the natural and godly use of their bodies as You originally designed and intended for us.

We see this world is winding down, and we have not been open to do our part, but there is a change within us, and we desire to be used for Your glory and to be about Your heavenly business and win people to the matchless wonder of Your name.

Hear us, oh God, forgive us of our sin and heal our land.

In Jesus’ name we humbly pray, amen.

Trust Me (Prophetic Word)

You question and you doubt my love for you. And yet, I believe in you, and I ask you to believe in Me. For have I not promised you that I will never leave you, I will never forsake you. Even when you chose to walk away from Me and My faithfulness, I stay with you. My spirit is calling out to you to trust Me, and in My steadfastness. For turbulent times are coming, and You will need to depend upon My faithfulness. But be not afraid for greater is My Spirit within you, than the spirit of your adversary, the devil. I have given to you all My authority to walk in overcoming victory. You have by the power of My blood, the choice to walk in My strength not just once in a while but daily. You make the decision whether you are going to trust Me, and to trust in My overwhelming goodness to you. You are the deciding factor if you walk in the manifestation of the victory, I fought for you to have this day and forever. I ask you to trust Me, and in My ways.

Thus, sayeth the Lord, Your Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

The Good News about 2022 Going into 2023

We are in the last days of 2022, and about to go into the new year of 2023. People of this earth, both Christian and non-Christian have been through a lot, but the Noel, “Good News” is that Immanuel has been with us. He is faithful and true and will forever remain so. God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19) I take great comfort, and so should you in the fact that our God is truthful. These past few years have been filled with lies and conflict and along with these lying and conflicting spirits a spirit of confusion has been released. But praise God we can go into 2023 with Immanuel and pour out His Spirit of Truth and be set free from the snares of the enemy.

He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He, (DEUT. 32:4). And yes, He is our Rock, our firm foundation on which we stand, and during such shaky times, we do not have to be weakened, but can remain strong on His solid ways.

Pondering upon these two Scriptures I can see we have a choice to make. We can either focus on the truth and faithfulness of our God, or we can zero in on the lies and betrayal of the enemy against us. With this choice we can either enter into 2023 frustrated by the betrayal of 2022, or we can decide to believe the good news and stand upon the Rock, our Lord and trust in Immanuel’s faithfulness towards us. I choose the latter, and I pray you do to. Let’s pray.

Dear Father God,

You know how overwhelmed I have been during this past year of 2022, but I make the decision to not repeat this frustration in 2023. So, I ask You to forgive me for not believing in Your good report reported throughout Your Word for me. And I ask You, Holy Spirit to help me through this next year of 2023 to stand upon the foundation of Your truth and faithfulness. I desire to walk in the freedom Your truth provides me. I make a declaration of faith as I enter into 2023, that I know The Truth, and You set me free for Your great glory, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen and amen.

Is Jesus Both Your Savior and Lord?

Is Jesus both your Savior and Lord? This is a very important question to ask yourself. And maybe you wonder what I mean when I ask this question. Let’s face it, we all know people that say they received Jesus as their Savior, or you were there when this someone asked Jesus to be their Savior, but no matter how authentic the moment was, they don’t act like they are saved. What happened? What’s wrong?

The issue is this, there is a difference between asking Jesus to be our savior and making Him the Lord of our life. The reason we ask Jesus to be our savior is because we recognize that we are sinful beings, and we need to be spiritually cleansed. We’ve heard the good news that Jesus paid the price to purchase our forgiveness by the shedding of His blood. We believe it, we act upon this revelation, and accept Him as Savior. And we are forgiven and become born-again. Our spirit being becomes alive, and heaven bound, and this is all based upon the grace of God.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.  Romans 10:9-10.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9.

When it comes to making Jesus Christ the Lord of our life, this rests upon our will. Our will to lay down our earthly desires and sinful ways, and to surrender to His plans and purposes for our life, and His commands. This is a daily decision that we must make to overcome the evils that call out to the human flesh.

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matthew 16:24.

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 1 Peter 1: 14-19.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2.

So, yes someone can have a divine encounter with God, and believe that He is who He says He is, the Redeemer of the Lost, and ask for forgiveness of their sins, and ask Him to be their Savior, and yet choose to be spiritually weak, and act out their sinful desires. Why, because they have asked Him to be their Savior, but not the Lord of their daily life.

Let’s pray.

Father God, I remember the moment that I asked You, Jesus to be my Savior. I clearly remember I asked you to forgive me of my sins. I knew I needed a spiritual bath, and only Your blood could cleanse me and give me eternal life. But I have to admit that I chose not to make You, the Lord of my daily life. I have wasted so much time on my sinful desires, and have hurt not only myself, but others around me because I did not want to surrender to Your ways. I ask You to forgive me for this, and I ask You to be the Lord of my daily life. Holy Spirit, lead me and guide me in this surrendered lifestyle, in Jesus’ name, I pray, amen and amen.

Will You Testify of this Great Resurrection Power?

Did you know that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you? Have you ever taken the time to realize what this means? It’s Easter weekend and we can get so preoccupied with celebrations that we forget to take the time to ponder upon this power that has been given to us to overcome all the evil that surrounds us and is attacking us. But I say it’s time to reflect on this resurrection power and what it means to us today. And decide once and for all where we stand in all of this, and are we willing to testify of this great resurrection power, or will we deny it’s power?

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you, Romans 8:11, (NKJV).

Let’s look to Paul’s words in First Corinthians 15:3-4, NKJV, For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures”. Paul the apostle of Jesus Christ, who once persecuted the Church is fully aware of the evil he had committed, but later on came into direct contact with Jesus and repented and spent the rest of his days testifying of this great resurrection power. What a beautiful testimony about the power of repentance and how this resurrection power can change a life of an evil man.

This is the Easter message in one verse. Jesus Christ died for our sins on the Cross called “Calvary”, He was buried, went to hell, and three days later He rose from the dead. But with such a life-changing, world-saving event we ought to have more than one witness who can testify to these facts about his death, burial and resurrection from the dead.

Luke was a physician and a follower of Christ, and he too testifies in his writings found in the Book of Luke 24:6-7, NKJV, “He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”  Luke’s written account has been published and passed down from one generation to the next so that we would have a detailed report about what actually happened. He knew the importance of the written word, So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, Will give You thanks forever; We will show forth Your praise to all generations”, Psalm 79:13, (NKJV). What do you spend your time publishing? You say, “I don’t publish anything.” What about on your social media platforms? You could testify of this resurrection power in your own arena of influence and change the lives of those you know.

What did Matthew, a tax collector converted into an apostle (meaning “a sent out one”) have to write concerning the epic event? “But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay, Matthew 28:5-6. [NKJV]. These women in this eye-witness account were Mary Magdalene (whom Jesus had cast out seven demons from), [See Mark 16:9.], and the other Mary and they were the first evangelists, and they ran to tell the others that Jesus rose from the dead. These women were not ashamed to testify about the resurrection power that they had just witnessed. How about you? Are you ashamed or will you testify of this amazing resurrection power? For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God,” (Romans 1:16)

Matthew continues to write that even the soldiers on guard duty at the tomb witnessed the even, but this is what happened when they ran to testify of this amazing and frightful event. Now while they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all the things that had happened.  When they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, saying, “Tell them, ‘His disciples came at night and stole Him away while we slept.’  And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will appease him and make you secure.”  So, they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.” Matthew 28:11-15.

Now these guards witnessed an eternal event but were easily bought off by money to tells lies to cover up the truth about this historical event. We read this part of history and think to ourselves, “How is this possible?” But even today, people are easily bought out to tell lies to cover up historical events. These soldiers could have had a major part to play in the greatest story ever told, but instead they bowed to the power of mammon, and some of you reading this are doing the same. What does Scripture tell us about matters such as this? “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24. Who are you going to serve? Jesus, the risen Savior who has the power to set you free, or the spirit of mammon and be enslaved to love of money?

And I find it very puzzling for sure that when Jesus appears to His disciples that there are those who walked with Him, knew Him first hand and still doubted this resurrection power as He stood before them. Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted,” Matthew 28:16-17, (NKJV). How disappointing that must have been to have those that He invested so much of His time and effort to lead the way, turned around and doubted Him. Maybe, you are in the same situation. You’ve confessed Him as your Savior for a long time, but you are still so full of doubt and unbelief concerning Him and His resurrection power. You have decisions to make, you can either repent and start a fresh, or you can stay stagnant in your faith and be full of doubt and unbelief. What are you going to do?

These are just a few witnesses of the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. And now you have the opportunity to be one who testifies or one who denies the resurrection power of Jesus, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords. What stance will you take? Will you share the greatest message of all time? Or will you fall into the sin of compromise and deny His existence to a lost and dying world?

Let’s pray about this.

“Father God, I repent this day, as I have heard the Good News about your resurrection power, and yet I have chosen to live a stagnated Christian life and remain full of doubt and unbelief. This is wrong of me, and definitely not Your will and plan for me. Forgive me for doubting Your resurrection power and that it is alive in me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen and amen.”

The Greatest Cure for Mental Illness

The greatest cure for mental illness is not more drugs–the cure is the unconditional love of God and the power of His love found within the pages of His Word–the Holy Bible. I believe much of what the world refers to mental illness is demonic oppression or possession. I also believe that most deliverance will come by renewing the soul (the mind and emotions) with God’s healing Word. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 26:3 (AMP):

You [God] will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].

Do you need this perfect peace operating in your life today? If so, you’re not alone, many of God’s people are suffering from attacks on their mind and emotions. But I am a firm believer in the power of God’s Word. If we will keep our thoughts focused on the love of God and His promises His perfect peace will belong to us.

We are responsible to take control of our thoughts. We are not to allow them to wander off into territory where we don’t belong. Proverbs 4:23 warns us to “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) teaches us how to guard the innermost thoughts of our hearts. It admonishes us in this way:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

What have you been thinking about? In what arena are your thoughts dwelling? Your heart will eventually follow after your deep inner thoughts. And once they get inside your heart, your actions will follow after them.

If your thoughts are dwelling in sexual sins, your actions will follow after those unclean thoughts. And if you allow yourself to dwell in these dark places, you will become enslaved to sexual perversion of all types.

If you watch satanic movies or read books about the occult, you open yourself up to the realm of the devil and he will make sure his demons take control of your mind and emotions.

Drugs and alcohol cause your spiritual filters to fail you, and you become easy prey to satan’s demonic strongholds. You will either become oppressed or possessed with demons.

If you are unequally yoked with an unbeliever whether in marriage, business, or friendship, you put your soul (mind and emotions) in jeopardy of transferring of spirits. The same spirit controlling them will enter and inhabit your domain.

No matter the unwelcoming situation you have found yourself in, there is hope for deliverance and healing in God’s Word. But you have to choose to be free and make quality decisions on a daily basis to get free. If you are standing in proxy for a loved one, you have to fight for the deliverance and for the freedom of this person by prayer and fasting and standing on the promises of God.

My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22.

I believe that most deliverance will simply come by staying int he Word of God. Living a lifestyle of reading and studying, meditating on the promises of God, speaking these promises aloud over yourself, and doing what it says to do brings deliverance. If you will do what I just wrote here, you will find your freedom. Those who are further into the bondage of satan will need others to fight for them.

Jesus says in Matthew 17:21 concerning certain types of demon possession, “this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

There are times in life when our hearts are overwhelmed with sorrow and grief, and that unspeakable pain permeates one’s being. It is times like these that we must find the way to heal.

Allow yourself to become vulnerable to family and friend who truly want to help in your time of need. They love you and care about you. You will find you do not have to explain much, they already know and understand the situation. They desire to be a support beam for you to lean on when you feel weak.

And then there are those unexpected people God will speak to concerning you to find a way to reach out to you to also help carry you through. Don’t be closed-minded, you may find a rich jewel in a new friendship that will bless you in your time of sorrow.

Then there are times when the people around you are not able to reach inside and heal the deep wound of sorrow. This is when you need to choose to grab hold of the Spirit of the Living God for help, inner healing, peace and strength that does not come from this world.

There are different levels of healing, and God uses people to help us through difficult trials in this life; and then there is a deep inner healing that only God alone can heal. We have to choose to wipe off the ashes of sorrow and allow Him to wash us with His atoning blood and make us whole again.

Are You Where You Want to Be Spiritually?

Are you where you want to be spiritually? We are coming to the end of this 21 Day Daniel Fast, and our purpose for this fast was to revive our spirit-being, to refresh our personal relationship with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to examine our spiritual condition so that we can make the necessary adjustments to overcome the wiles of the enemy.

Let’s review the key points that we touched upon these past twenty-one days.

Do I still love my Savior, Jesus? Or am I living the lifestyle while forsaking the most important relationship one can ever have? If I have allowed my relationship with the Lord to become dull, what am I going to do about it?

We see that difficult times are upon us, and that persecution against us is ramping up. And many fear what might happen, and others question if they have what it takes to endure persecution. Let’s examine our hearts and ask ourselves the hard question, “Can I endure these difficult times?”  Are we willing to strengthen our faith while others hate us, and even attempt to do us harm?

We looked at our place of worship. We were encouraged to ask ourselves, “Is my place of worship in right standing with Jesus?” “Does my place of worship lift up Jesus as the true God? Do they encourage the people to be born-again? Do they teach the Word of God? Or do they promote tolerance of evil? Have they become more concerned about being politically correct, than teaching people to be free from their sin?” If your place of worship does not teach the truth, “What did you do about it?”

We discussed the dangers of putting up with a Jezebel spirit and were encouraged to ask ourselves the following questions. “Am I struggling to repent from ungodliness?” “Do I tolerate and permit the controlling Jezebel spirit to have its way within my home, church, or office?” If I have done so in the past, “What am I going to do about it today?”

Do our thoughts, words, and daily actions line up with God’s requirements for eternal life in heaven? Do we believe in our hearts, and confess with our words, “I believe, Jesus is Lord.”?

We looked at how God judges good works and were encouraged to examine our motives. “Why am I doing what I do?” And “Who receives the glory for what I do?”

We gave thought to our spiritual temperature. And were asked to admit if we were spiritually lukewarm, cold or hot? And if we did not like our temperature, were we willing to adjust the thermostat?

We were encouraged to listen to the words we speak, as they have the prophetic power to release life or death into the situation. I would think that most of us would be a bit convicted on this point, but did we make the adjustments necessary to transform our lives? Did we take time to repent for the misuse of our words? Did we make a conscious decision to listen to what we say, before we speak? Have we asked Holy Spirit for His help to learn to speak His language of faith and prophesy death to the works of satan, and the life of God into our needs?

When it comes to the power of truth, do we seek real truth, Jesus and His Holy Word? Or have we decided to stay stuck in the lies given to us from this world? To walk in the power of truth is a decision, but this decision sets us free.

We looked at the need for us to hit the “Reset” button of our faith, to start over, speak words of faith over ourselves, and activate our faith.

We were refreshed with a prophetic word from the Lord, “Dead bones must rise again!” And received His word of encouragement to “Shake off the sleep and the slumber. Press toward the mark of our high calling. Unleash the resurrection power of My Spirit within you. No longer be timid and shy. You have entered into a time when there is no turning back for My Beloved–My Church.”

All in all, this has been a blessed time during this 21-day Daniel Fast. Our purpose of this time of spiritual reflection is not to judge others, but our own hearts. As our purpose is to revive our spirit-being, to refresh our personal relationship with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to examine our spiritual condition so that we can make the necessary adjustments to overcome the wiles of the enemy. And this is not the easiest thing to do, but it is necessary to be where we want to be spiritually. And I believe it has accomplished much to identify where we are spiritually. And if we do not like where we are in certain areas, we have the tools to make the necessary changes to move forward during this turbulent year, and in these last days.

What’s Your Spiritual Temperature?

What’s your spiritual temperature? We all have one. Will we choose this day to be spiritually lukewarm, cold or hot? What say you?

Today is the twelfth day of our 21 Day Daniel Fast. The purpose of this fast is to revive our spirit-being, to refresh our personal relationship with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to examine our spiritual condition so that we can make the necessary adjustments to overcome the wiles of the enemy in these last days. Today, we are going to continue on in our study from the Book of Revelation where Jesus addresses the seven Churches. And so, let’s turn our attention over to chapter 3, verses 14 through 22, and discover what’s our spiritual temperature.

14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,

‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

We read in this portion of Scripture that our Lord is rebuking the church of the Laodiceans for their spiritual temperature–lukewarmness. And this text is very applicable for us today. Let’s read and make note of what He considers someone that is lukewarm.

The Characteristics of a Lukewarm Christian:

  1. Spiritually speaking they are, “Neither hot nor cold” towards the Lord and His ways.
  2. They say about themselves, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing”.

This assignment is not to judge others, but our own hearts. As we read in these verses that the Lord rebukes and chastens the people He loves. And how does He respond to the pride of these followers? Basically, He lets them know that they are spiritually blind to the reality of eternal matters. They have become uncaring, self-centered, and self-seeking. And He calls them out and reprimands them with these words, You do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.” Ouch! That’s a strong rebuke to Christian folk that think they’ve got it all together in this life. If this is your spiritual temperature, then repent and allow Holy Spirit to guide your life so it can be removed from the vomit list to the list of the passionate. Remember, “With God all things are possible.”

This takes us to the other spiritual temperatures, cold and hot for the Lord. He tells us, I wish you were cold or hot.” Obviously, we do not want to be spiritually cold towards the Lord. If we are it’s because something has happened that we have not dealt with and have become the “Frozen Chosen”, probably angry and bitter about life, and we blame Him. But even though this is an undesirable spiritual temperature, He still prefers this over being lukewarm. Perhaps, it’s because we still have feelings, even though they are negative and harmful, whereas when we are lukewarm, we no longer care about God and life around us.

What He really desires is that His bride is passionate, spiritually on fire for Him, and all that matters to Him. He deeply desires intimate relationship with us, and that we are in right standing with the Father, empowered by His Spirit, healed in spirit, soul, and body. He longs for us to care about what He cares about–the lost and the hurting.  It gives Him no pleasure that we are sick or hurting. He wills that we prosper in spirit, soul, and body. He does not desire for us to be in bondage to sin, but to walk in the freedom that comes from Him alone. Our Lord gives us every reason to be passionate, spiritually on fire for Him.

So, you see, we have another decision to make. Will we choose this day to be spiritually lukewarm, cold or hot? What say you? Let’s pray.

Dear Holy Spirit,

Again, You have given me something to consider, “What’s my spiritual temperature?”. Forgive me for being lukewarm and uncaring towards You. This is not how I want to be. And forgive me for acting cold towards You. Help me to deal with the issues in life that have brought me to this frozen spiritual place. Holy Spirit, help me to unthaw and to become passionate, spiritually on fire for You. This is what I truly desire, to be spiritually hot, that my relationship with You burns with passion for You and the things You care about. And thank You for revealing my spiritual temperature today and showing me the way to change. In Your precious name I pray, amen.

Steps to Take to Voice Activate Your Faith

A word of encouragement for you today to help you with steps to take to voice activate your faith.

God’s Word in Proverbs 18:21 teaches us that, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” In other words, your words are full of supernatural power to produce life or death. In fact, you are releasing life or death into every situation by the power of your everyday words. When we allow ourselves to mediate upon this biblical fact about the power of our words it causes us to realize that we have been given a major responsibility and we need to take the use of our words serious.

If you are a person of many words, who blurts out their thoughts instead of taking time to consider what we should or should not say then this is my spiritual advice to you. “Stop! Your words are recking havoc not only in your life, but in the lives of those around you.” Ouch! That kind of hurts, but your constant flow of words is causing a lot of damage, and with the help of the Lord, you can stop this out-of-control behavior. Here are a few steps for you to take to bring your usage of words under submission to the Lord.

  1. Repent for the mismanagement of your words.
  2. Surrender your mouth and the use of your words to the Lord Jesus, Himself.
  3. Begin to listen to what you speak, and ask yourself, “Do I really want what I just said to come to pass?”
  4. And remember, with God all things are possible, even surrendering my usage of words to God.

Then we have the opposite type of person who is afraid to speak. This too is a misuse of the power of your words. God has given to you a great gift–the power of the spoken word. He created people, including you in His mirror image, (See Genesis 1:26-28.), and expects each of us to represent Him well. A well-rounded ambassador knows understands just how important their words are, and so should we, who are called by His name, and proclaim to be followers of Jesus Christ. The enemy, satan desires for you to live in fear, and be afraid to speak up and let your voice be heard. Don’t give into the devil’s tactics against you. I’ve included a list of steps for you to put into action, beginning now.

  1. Repent for allowing yourself to be controlled by a spirit of fear.
  2. Make a quality decision to voice activate the power of your words today.
  3. Empower yourself to overcome the fear of people, and their possible disapproval of your thoughts and opinions.
  4. If someone starts to speak the negative around you, or about you, speak up! And say, “Excuse me, but I disagree with what you say.” And share from your heart what you believe to be God’s response to the situation.
  5. And voice activate this Scripture over yourself daily. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, Philippians 4:13.

We’ve talked about two types of people here, the over-talker, and the one that is afraid to speak up. But what about everyone else that falls somewhere in between? We all need to be aware of the power of our words. Each one of us can fall into the mismanagement of the usage of our words, and we don’t want this. But I also want to say, we can all learn how to use our words for the glory of the Lord. Here is a list for all of us to consider and put into action.

  1. Listen to the words that we speak.
  2. Ask ourselves, “Do I really desire what I just said to come to pass?”
  3. Apologize when we realize we said something we should not have said to someone.
  4. Repent for saying words that go against the well-being of our own physical body, or our present situation.
  5. And ask Holy Spirit how to reword those misused words and say aloud what He tells you to speak.
  6. And remember, “With God all things are possible”, see Matthew 19:26. Even learning to correctly voice activate the power of our words is possible.
