The Blessings of Faithfulness

Today we are going to consider the blessings of faithfulness by looking at the church in Philadelphia from Revelation 3: 7-13. Let’s begin by reading this portion of Scripture from the New King James Version of the Bible.

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’

In verse eight He says, “I know your works.” Now according to the Scriptures, we realize that we do not earn our Salvation by our good works, but that we are created to do good works. Ephesians 2:8-10 says, For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Good works is also a matter of the heart, and the manner in which we do them reveals our intentions. Matthew 5:16 tells us, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” We can perform good works for God’s glory or for our own. And obviously the one that does them for God’s glory works them from a faithful heart to the Lord. The motive of the other is self-seeking, and people-pleasing, and misses the mark entirely. We are to glorify our Father in heaven by our good works.

The questions we should examine ourselves with here are, “Why am I doing what I do?” And “Who receives the glory for what I do?”

Because the church in Philadelphia passes the test of good works, they are found to be faithful, and receive a special promise, “I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it.” The seed of faithfulness harvests an open door to Heaven. And we want this door wide open with no hinderances between us and Father God. We need His approval for what we do on this earth. And faith is the only thing that pleases Him. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”, Hebrews 11:6.  May we be diligent in our faith walk to please Him, and to honor Him in all that we do.

What are a few things that stood out to our Lord about these followers of His?

He notes, “for you have a little strength”. You may think that you are weak, but the good news is that even when we feel weak, He remains strong in us. And He never intends for us to do this all on our own, but to rely upon His strength and power. He gives us these encouraging words in Zechariah 4:6, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” He gives to us all that we have need of during difficult times, His Spirit.

He also acknowledges that they, “Have kept My word.” Psalm 119:105 guides us with these words, “Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.” His Word is our guiding light in the darkness of this earth. It’s our spiritual map to live life by.

And one last characteristic in verse eight that I want to address that Jesus uses to judge them faithful is that they, “and have not denied My name.” We are living in turbulent times, and we are seeing the faithless denying His name. And unfortunately, we are going to witness this more and more, but even though many fall away, does not mean we have to. We have a choice to make, either we acknowledge or deny the name of our Lord. Let us make the right choice and acknowledge Him in all of our ways. Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” And one final verse from Matthew 24:13, (AMP), “But the one who endures and bears up [under suffering] to the end will be saved.”

You see, there are major spiritual blessings to being faithful to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Let us pray.

“Father God, we choose to put our complete trust in You, and to acknowledge You in all our ways. We make the quality decision to serve you, and not ourselves, and to glorify You with our good works that You created us to do. Help us during times of weakness, remind us that You have given to us all we need during turbulent times–Your Spirit. Holy Spirit, You are a rich and wonderous gift to us, and You remain strong within us always. Help us to remain faithful and true to You, Father God, Jesus, our Redeemer, and Holy Spirit, our Comforter. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, amen.”

Religious and Spiritually Dead

It’s sad to me that people can believe that they are followers of Jesus, and yet be spiritually dead. Our Lord addresses this very issue in the Book of Revelation 3:1-6, (AMP). He says, “To the angel (divine messenger) of the church in Sardis write:

“These are the words of Him who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: ‘I know your deeds; you have a name (reputation) that you are alive, but [in reality] you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen and reaffirm what remains [of your faithful commitment to Me], which is about to die; for I have not found [any of] your deeds completed in the sight of My God or meeting His requirements. So remember and take to heart the lessons you have received and heard. Keep and obey them, and repent [change your sinful way of thinking, and demonstrate your repentance with new behavior that proves a conscious decision to turn away from sin]. So then, if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. But you [still] have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes [that is, contaminated their character and personal integrity with sin]; and they will walk with Me [dressed] in white, because they are worthy (righteous). He who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God] will accordingly be dressed in white clothing; and I will never blot out his name from the Book of Life, and I will confess and openly acknowledge his name before My Father and before His angels [saying that he is one of Mine]. He who has an ear, let him hear and heed what the Spirit says to the churches.’

In verse one He says to them that they call themselves believers, but they’re not. He knows their deeds, He sees what they are up too, and quite frankly their actions do not line up to a true believer in Jesus. And He gives them a warning and tells them that they need to repent.

So many people think they are Christians and will spend their eternity in heaven, but they are deceived. They have not met God’s requirements. And just what does He require of us? Romans 10:9 clearly tells us, “”If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” You can repeat godly sayings, even Scriptures all you want, but if you do not believe in your heart, it’s all in vain. And how do you know if you truly believe in your heart? Your actions will show you whether you believe or not.  James 2:26 says it like this, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” You can gather together with other Church folk on Sundays and holidays and take part in the religious activities, but outside of that atmosphere you live for yourself, for your own sinful desires. And it’s these ungodly actions that prove you don’t really believe. If you really did, you wouldn’t behave the way you do. You say, “But I do believe!” Congratulations! James 2:19 says it like this, “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!”

What I want you to see is this, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved,” Acts 4:12. Jesus says in John 3:3, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” And how do we do this? We believe in our hearts, and confess with our words, “I believe, Jesus is Lord.” And your thoughts, your words, and your daily actions will begin to transform. And those around you will witness the change in your life.

Let us not spend our lives acting religious, when in reality we are spiritually dead. Let’s be real with ourselves, and with God. Let’s pray.

“Father God, I have really missed it. I have been acting all religious, but inwardly I see that I have been spiritually dead. I don’t want to be like the demons, who believe, but are filled with evil. No, I repent of all ungodliness in my life. Forgive me, I have been so wrong. I have been self-centered, self-seeking, and oh, so lost. But today, is a new day. And I do believe in my heart that You are who You say You are. You are the One and only way to Salvation. I not only ask You to forgive me of all evil thoughts, words, and sinful actions, but I surrender my life to You. I ask You to be my Savior. And I ask You, Holy Spirit to teach me how to live like I truly believe, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

Jack-O'-Lantern with white smoke coming out

Christians Should Know the Origins of Halloween

I believe Christians should know the origins of Halloween. So, I did a brief investigation on the internet and want to share with you a few facts so you are aware what this celebration is about, and see what God has to say about such festivals. I want you to come to the point that you make a conscious decision whether or not you as a follower of Jesus should participate in such an activity. Let’s look at the origins of Halloween.

According to historians, the tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. bolavip.com

Now, we realize that these ghosts are demons, and we should remind ourselves what Jesus, our Messiah has to say to us concerning satan, demons and their wicked works. “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” It is by the authority of Christ that we put demons in their place, not by silly man-made means.

For the Celts, the winter was often associated with human death and they believe that on October 31 the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. bolavip.com

The Apostle Paul shares this word of warning with us from Romans 13:12, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.”

Samhain is a time-honored tradition followed by witches, Wiccans, ancient druids and countless other modern pagans across the world, celebrated as October turns to November. Samhain is a festival of the Dead. gaia.com

Should we as true believers celebrate the spirit of death? Jesus shines the light of His truth about the enemy’s plans of destruction against us in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Again I ask you, “Should Christians celebrate the spirit of death?” The answer is, “No!” We are not to align ourselves with satan and his wicked works in any way.

How about this fact about the origin of Halloween? “Tradition holds that Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest and the start of the coldest half of the year, and with this transition it’s also celebrated as the beginning of the spiritual new year for practitioners, which is also why it’s nicknamed “The Witches’ New Year.” gaia.com

Why are we celebrating the witches new year with them? The only excuse I can come up with is willful deception, which is not deception but rebellion. And this lines up with this devilish festival perfectly. Read this timely word from 1 Samuel 15:23a, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” And refusal to repent from a willful alliance with witchcraft will prevent you from receiving that much-needed healing or miracle from the Lord.

This next snippet I found about the origin of Halloween really caught my attention. It teaches someone how to set up a Samhain altar. Here is what it says. “If you’re new to the pagan tradition and don’t have a permanent altar in place, you can easily set up a table to leave in place for the three days prior to Samhain. Decorate the altar with symbols of late fall, such as:

  • Skulls, skeletons, grave rubbings, ghosts
  • Harvest food such as pumpkins, squash, root vegetables
  • Nuts and berries, dark bread
  • Dried leaves and acorns
  • A cornucopia filled with an abundance of fruit and veggies
  • Mulled cider, wine, or mead” (gaia.com)

This sounds like a lot of decorations sitting out in the front yards and entrances of many Christian homes this weekend. Should we be taking part in the Wiccans most sacred and holy day and join them in worshipping the spirit of death and satan this weekend? Think about it. Repent. It’s not too late to take those decorations down and pray with your family and ask God’s forgiveness.

Let’s pray.

Father God, forgive me and my family because we did not realize what we have been taking part in these past few years. And even though the warning signs were there, and people were speaking up against this wickedness we chose not to listen. Forgive us for being rebellious and hardhearted against You and Your ways. Help us to take down this Samhain altar in our yard, and entrance into our home. And as we take a stand for righteousness this year, Holy Spirit give us the words to gently and in a spirit of love speak our reasons to our neighbors in a manner that glorifies You, in Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

3 Spiritual Goals for Living Through these Last Days

We can clearly see, even with our natural eyes that the last days are upon us. People all around the world are crying out for deliverance from oppression, and freedom to exercise their own free will. The masses are hitting the streets protesting the injustice that is taking place worldwide. While others are suffering from drought, wildfires, flooding, violence, and invasion. Everything is ramping up for the antichrist to step in and take over.

You might be asking, “What do I do to live in God’s victory through these last days?” Excellent question! I have written up three spiritual goals to live through these last days victoriously. Let’s look at them.

My first goal to living in these last days is to: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Luke 10:27. This is the cure-all for self-centeredness.

My second goal for living through these last days is to be about my heavenly Father’s business and invite as many as will come. Proverbs 11:30 tells us, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.” I want to make sure that those within my arena of influence know that I am a follower of Christ Jesus, and give them the opportunity to do so as well.

My third goal for living in these last days is from Isaiah 55:12. “For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” I have made the decision that no matter what I will go through during these pressing times that I will keep my self filled with joy. Remembering all that He has done for me, and where I am headed with Him. And I will keep my mind and emotions stayed on Him and remain in the realm of His perfect peace that is not of this world, but comes directly from Him.

I believe that this list of 3 spiritual goals for living in these last days will help us to live in victory no matter what may come our way.

God Listens and Delivers

How often do you hear people complain that their doctor doesn’t have the time to listen to them?

Your Great Physician actually listens when you call to Him (see Ps. 4:3). But do you know that there is a certain type of prayer that draws His attention to us? This type of prayer is filled with words of faith. In Mark 11:24 Jesus gives us instruction about how to pray, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

Not only does He listen, but according to Psalm 34:17, “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

There are many different troubles that come with sickness and disease, especially when the world labels it long term. One trouble is financial. The woman with the issue of blood who bled for 12 years spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any (see Luke 8:43).

The thief not only steals our health and life with sickness and disease, but he will use the illness to dry up our finances so we are like the woman above and we have no resources to seek further help. This causes people to feel desperate and without hope, but with God there is always hope. And we need to hold on tightly to this supernatural power of hope, as it is the precursor to faith.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, Hebrews 11:1. Hope precedes faith. Hold onto that bit of hope no matter how small you think it might be, cultivate it and allow it to transform into faith. And with faith-filled words do as we are instructed in Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

If we wallow in self-pity and continue to falsely accuse God of being unfaithful to us and to the promises in His Word we will not see the manifestation of our healing. We need to make quality decisions in this life, come boldly before His throne of Grace, call upon His faithfulness and mercy, activate our faith and actually believe that He hears us and delivers our much needed healings.

How God’s Justice System Works (A Lesson From the Manger)

How does God’s justice system work in a world filled with chaos and fraud? This is an all important message from the manger that we need to learn and implement in our lives today. Let’s turn our eyes to Who is placed within the manger to learn the workings of God’s justice system.

And Who is placed in that manager on that most holy night? Jesus. And Who is Jesus? He is the Son of God. And what did Father God do with His Son, Jesus Christ? He gave. Let’s turn to the famous Scripture, John 3:16 for further insight. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This verse of Scripture is packed with how God’s justice system works. Let’s take a few moments to ponder upon its meaning.

For the sake of time, lets turn to Romans 5:19 first which clearly explains to us how sin entered into the world, and the remedy for it, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” Sin was introduced into our world by Adam (See Adam and Eve’s willful act of disobedience in Genesis 3.), but Jesus Christ came down to this earth in the form of a human being to restore God’s law and order by becoming the supreme sacrifice for our sin. And what an unselfish gift from God Jesus’ saving grace truly is.

John 3:16  tells us that “God so loved the world”. God is so in love with you that He gave the very best, and most costly gift He could give–His Son, Jesus. And He doesn’t just love you, He loves all people throughout the earth–present, past and future generations. This love He has for us doesn’t mean He approves of our evil, sinful actions, but that He loves us. And this love factor will never change. Romans 5:8 beautifully tells us, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” His love for us is not based upon our actions. He loves us no matter what. Even if we do not love Him, He loves us. And Jesus Christ is God’s gift to the world, but just like any other gift, it has to be opened to benefit the receiver. How do we open up this precious Gift of God? We believe in “The Gift” given to us from the Father.

John 3:16 reveals more to us about God’s justice system and how it operates. It says, “Whoever believes in Him should not perish.” What does it mean to perish? In Strong’s G622 to perish means to be destroyed, to kill, be put to death, given over to misery in hell. This is a very strong word, one that the world doesn’t want to hear–but must hear. And we are the ones that must speak the truth to them in love that there is a heaven and a hell. And that we are the ones responsible to choose our eternal destiny.

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Revelation 20:11-15 reveals even more about God’s justice system, Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Sin is the injustice, death is the consequence, and the eternal punishment for sin is hell. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer and Savior from sin, hell and ourselves. And we are the deciding factor–we make the decision of where we will spend our eternity in heaven or in hell. God’s justice system works by our believing or not believing in Him and in His promises. Let’s pray.

Father God,

Help me to see the truth in Your Word. Holy Spirit, lead me and guide me into all truth concerning the Living Word–Jesus Christ. Help me to rightly discern Your justice system, and how to tap into Your amazing grace that was birthed in a manger so long ago. And even though this event took place so many years ago, the loving power behind His birth has never lost its power. I choose this day to walk in this power of saving grace in the midst of a world filled with chaos and fraud. I tap into your heavenly justice system.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Surrendering to God When It Doesn’t Make Sense

Surrendering to God even when it doesn’t make sense to do so is an important lesson we all have to learn in life. And this is our life lesson for today. We will look at the life of a young virgin girl, Mary in the Christmas story, and see how she surrenders to the will of God when it just doesn’t make sense.

Let’s read and find out what happens. Mary is a young virgin girl, betrothed to Joseph. The angel Gabriel appears to her and delivers the following message, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (See Luke 1:28, NKJV.) This is quite the situation, she is being visited by an angel who just greeted her with the most perplexing salutation. As we will read on in this supernatural encounter she really is a humble young woman, and probably didn’t see herself before as being highly favored or blessed among women. Gabriel continues on with his angelic purpose. He then declares to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JesusHe will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”, Luke 1: 30-33.

What a frightful message to receive, and in the natural it doesn’t make any sense. She has never had sexual relations before, therefore she can not be expectant with child. And she even questions the angelic-being standing in front of her and responds with these words in verse 34, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And Gabriel explains to her how it will be in verse 35, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” And knowing what she is about to encounter from others in her life, he gives her a prophetic word about her cousin, Elizabeth, and then a promise. He says, Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” What a powerful message this young virgin girl, Mary receives.

In the natural this message of the Lord is inconceivable to understand, and it will take sheer trust and faith to receive. And she so beautifully accepts the will of the Lord for her life–even though it doesn’t make sense in the natural. Let’s remind ourselves of her humble response, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to Your word.”, see Luke 1:38, NKJV.

We are all facing a world that is filled with chaos and uncertainty and we, like Mary have a decision to make–we can deny our destiny, or we can surrender to His will for our lives even when it doesn’t make sense to do so. Let’s pray.

“Father God,

We are facing great uncertainties in life, but we want to do the right thing and be pleasing in Your sight. We confess that Your ways do not always make sense to us, but we know in our hearts that You have a plan and a purpose for us to follow. And we remind ourselves that You have even given to us a spiritual map–Your Holy Word, and a personal spiritual guide–Your Holy Spirit, Who leads us and guides us into all truth. So now, with humble hearts we surrender and trust You and Your ways for the days that are ahead of us. We accept Your plans and purposes, and we will do as You instruct us, even if people lie about us, or mistreat us for doing so we earnestly say, “Let it be to us according to Your word.”

In Your most precious name, we pray, amen.”

Making Merry this Christmas

Making merry this Christmas may seem challenging, but it is possible, and not only is it possible it is necessary. Making merry doesn’t mean to get drunk or high as the world would have you to believe. That type of activity only leaves people feeling emotionally empty and in want for something more. Making merry this Christmas means something much richer than anything this world has to offer, and it will not leave you feeling empty, but fulfilled.

Making merry this Christmas is choosing joy over anxiety, depression and fear. This means making quality decisions that will alter the outcome of our day. It may not change our circumstances, but it will transform the foundation of our emotions. And as followers of Christ we cannot allow ourselves to be driven by negative emotions, but to choose to step into the realm of joy.

Joy is more than an emotion. It is a supernatural power given to us by God that will cause the devil to run from us. Let us see what the Bible has to say about joy.

Nehemiah 8:10 from the Amplified version of the Bible tells us, “Do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.” Instead of allowing worry to be our stronghold, let us allow joy to be our strength. You may be reading this and thinking to yourself, “That’s easy for you to say, you don’t know what I have been through!” And you are correct, I don’t know all that you have been through, but I too have had my share of tribulations on this earth and am showing you the way to overcome the negative stronghold of sorrow. Jeremiah 31:13 says, “I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.’” No matter how difficult the situation is, if we will make the decision to choose the “Joy of the Lord” in place of our pain we will find inner healing for our soul–our mind and emotions.

There is supernatural healing power in joy. Proverbs 17:22 teaches us that, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” Choose to take God’s medicine–joy, take it daily, not just once a day, but take it in large doses throughout the day. You cannot overdose on it. And I promise you, the more you ingest His joy, the quicker you will heal, and the stronger in life you will become.

Let us make merry this Christmas, and refrain from the negative emotions of anxiety, depression, and fear. Let us refresh our souls–our mind and emotions with the joy of the Lord and make His joy our supernatural strength and stronghold. And let us share this refreshing joy of the Lord with others and give them reason to make merry this Christmas too.

Church, You Are Loosed! – Prophetic Word

The Spirit of the Lord would say to you this day, “Church, you are loosed from the bondage of this world.

I did not bind your hands or gag your mouth. You have allowed the enemy to do that.

But I say, “No more!”

I created you to win every battle that confronts you.

I say, “I back you every step of the way.”

You are not the tail, but the head on this earth.

Trust Me, lean not onto your own understanding.

Step forward and take the step of faith needed in these last days.

Though the enemy kicks and screams against you—what is that to you?

Have I not told you in My Word that he is the accuser of the brethren, falsely accusing night and day. But I have given you all of My authority over that serpent of old.

I say rise up, be not afraid, be bold and do not allow your hands to be tied on this earth. Break out in the power of My might, be the mighty warriors I destined you to be.

Open up your mouth and tell them around you that I love them, and I am coming soon. And they have a decision to make, either they are for Me, or they are against Me.

Keep My praise on your lips morning, noon and night. I say to you, “Truly you do not understand the hour that you are in.”

Don’t hold back. Push the gates of hell down, and release as many as you can from the strongholds on this earth. Do not question the authority that I have given to you on this earth to fulfill the Great Commission. So little time is left to gather them in. Bring as many to Me that will come. Don’t prejudge their decision—just give out the invitation to them in love.”

The Greatest Cure for Mental Illness Is the Word of God

The greatest cure for mental illness is the Word of God. And I believe much of what the world refers to mental illness is demonic oppression or possession. And I also believe that most deliverance will come by the renewing the soul (the mind and the emotions) with God’s healing word. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 26:3, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

Do you need this perfect peace operating in your life today? If so, you’re not alone, many of God’s people are suffering from attacks on their mind and emotions. But I am a firm believer in the power of God’s word. If we will keep our thoughts focused on God and His promises this perfect peace will belong to us.

We are responsible to take control of our thoughts. We are not to allow them to wander off into territory where we don’t belong. Proverbs 4:23 warns us to “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” Philippians 4:6-7 teaches us how to guard the innermost thoughts of our hearts. It admonishes us in this way, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

What have you been thinking about? What arena are your thoughts dwelling in? Your heart will eventually follow after your deep inner thoughts. And once they get inside your heart, your actions will follow after them.

If you’re thoughts are dwelling in sexual sins, your actions will follow after those unclean thoughts. And if you allow yourself to dwell in these dark places, you will become enslaved to sexual perversion of all types.

If you are watching satanic movies or reading books about the occult you will open yourself up to the realm of the devil and he will make sure his demons take control of your mind and emotions.

Drugs and alcohol cause your spiritual filters to fail you, and you become easy prey to satan’s demonic strongholds. And you will either become oppressed or possessed with demons.

If you are unequally yoked with an unbeliever whether in marriage, business or friendship you put your soul (mind and emotions) in jeopardy of transferring of spirits. And that same spirit controlling them enters and inhabits your domain.

No matter the unwelcoming situation you have found yourself in–there is hope for deliverance and healing in God’s Word. But you have to choose to be free, and make quality decisions on a daily basis to get free. Of if you are standing in proxy for a loved-one you have to fight the deliverance for the freedom of this person by prayer and fasting and standing on the promises of God.

“My son, give attention to My words; incline your ear to My sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh”, Proverbs 4:20-23.

I believe that most deliverance will simply come by staying the Word of God. Living a lifestyle of reading and studying, meditating on the promises of God, speaking these promises aloud over yourself, and doing what it says to do. If you will do what I just wrote here, most of you will find your freedom. And the others that are further into the bondage of satan will need others to fight for them.

Jesus says in Matthew 17:21 concerning certain types of demon-possession, “this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

I pray this has helped you to see where you need to start on your journey of deliverance from mental illness, and regain your mental health and well-being back again. Please join me tomorrow, Wednesday on  Becky Dvorak Facebook Live at 11:30 AM EST / 8:30 AM PST as I will be sharing how to get free and forgiven from a “Reprobate Mind” that we find in Romans 1:28.
