How to Present the Good News

Have you ever heard the way in which you present Jesus to others? We are to share the Good News with nonbelievers. The Good News is not, “Hey, you lousy sinner, you are going to burn in hell!”  That is not good news. And that’s not smart witnessing either.

The Good News is filled with hope for something better. The smart way to share Jesus is to say something like, “I know things have not turned out as you wished, you’ve made some bad decisions, you have found yourself in a tough spot… but I care, and more importantly God cares. In fact, He cares so much about you that He sent His son Jesus into this world to suffer and die for you, so that you could be forgiven of your sins, and delivered from this situation…”

The second presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ opens up the door to the receiver. It shows compassion and understanding which will soften hardened hearts to listen and possibly receive what you have to share.

Then after the door is open continue on and tell them how to receive Jesus. Tell them the Bible says “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (See Romans 10:9.) Now, when I share Jesus with people, I keep it simple, I do not bombard them with Scripture references. I share maybe a 1 or 2 Scriptures at the most. Also, you can relax when you share about Jesus to others, you do not have to quote the Scriptures word for word in this situation. Give them the basic facts in a way that they can receive from you.

1.The Bible says…

2. If you believe in your heart…

3.  Jesus died on the Cross for your sins and was raised from the dead and is alive today.

4. If you believe this and will speak it from your mouth that you believe…

5. Then you will be saved.

Then ask them, “Do you believe this?” If they say yes, then offer to pray with them. Ask them to repeat a simple prayer, like the following example.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. I have examined my heart, and I do acknowledge and admit that I have sinned against You and Your Word. Your Words says, in Romans 10:9-10, “If you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart, that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Father God, I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe that He died on the cross to save me from my sins, went to hell in my place, rose again three days later, and is alive and seated at Your right side in heaven.

Jesus, forgive me of all my sins. Thank You, for saving me from sin, hell, and myself. I ask You to come into my life to be my Lord and Savior. Thank You for loving me and accepting me just as I am.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Afterwards, look them in the eye and smile, welcome them to the family of God. Invite them to come to Church or Bible study group with you.

This is presenting the Good News to the lost and needy in a smart, kind and caring manner.

Prayer for the Assistance of Ministering Angels

Luke 1: 26-27 says, “Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.”

The Father sent His angel Gabriel to this earth to deliver a message to Mary that would change her life. Did you know that He still sends angels to this earth to minister to His people? The Bible says concerning these angels in Hebrews 1:14, “Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?” AMP

We need to learn to take the limits off of God, and allow Him to minister to us as He wills. Many believers are receiving angelic visitations from the Lord. I know I have had angelic activity in my life, and I expect even more ministry in this way. How about you? Where are you at in your spiritual walk with the Lord? Will you allow Him to send His ministering angels to minister to you?

Here is my petition to the Lord for you this day.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I ask You to send forth your angels to minister to the needs of my dear friends this day. That many will see, hear and receive a special angelic touch from You that will heal them in spirit, soul and body.

For those that are fighting against a spirit of death that they receive a divine healing touch and they will rise from their deathbeds completely healed.

And for all that are suffering from physical pain, sickness and disease I ask that Your ministering angels will encompass them and release their physical healing this very moment.

I pray for others that are fighting against a spirit of deception that they will receive a message of truth that will set them free, and lead them down the path of repentance, and back into the arms of the Heavenly Father.

Holy Spirit, send forth Your angels that will minister love and acceptance to those that are contemplating suicide today. Give them the message of hope that is needed to choose life and to carry on to the victory that comes only from the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

For those that are in the place of major decisions today, that will affect the lives of them and their families, release Your ministering angels and strengthen them to do what is right according to Your Word.

Whatever the need may be, I ask that You will release Your angels to minister to them by the power of Your grace.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Holy Bible

Faith 101: Salvation

There is a real need to get back to the basics with our spirituality, so today I am going to write about Salvation. Let’s begin.

Many people have heard the famous verse from John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. If this verse is so familiar then why is there such confusion concerning salvation?

In this day and age, it appears that right is wrong and wrong is right, and with this “Everything is o.k.” attitude there is little understanding between the two.  When we remove godly boundaries people get hurt. And family members suffer when we cross the lines of godly principles. And these sins of the fathers pass from one generation to another. And morality spirals in a downward direction away from God and His ways. But the Bible clearly states in Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”

There is a push in our society called, The Tolerance Movement that wrecks havoc throughout all levels of society, and it even infiltrates the Church. Under the false pretense of love and acceptance it confuses the hearts of people. It claims that all roads lead to salvation, but denies the one and only way to salvation, Jesus Christ. With its anti-Christ doctrine many are lost and on their way to hell. But why are they intolerant towards Jesus Christ? Because Jesus is the Light of the World, and His light exposes darkness or sin. John 3:19-20 says, “That the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” They try to hide their sins as they deny Jesus Christ.

Jeremiah the prophet cries out in Jeremiah 2:11-13, 27-28. “Has a nation changed gods when they were not gods? But My people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.“Be appalled, O heavens, at this, and shudder, be very desolate,” declares the Lord. “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water.”

The Book of Romans in 1:20-25 also speaks of this “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”

Even though the Scriptures say that we are without excuse, we are not without hope. John 3:17 says “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Jesus came into this world so that through His redemptive work at Calvary we might be saved. The word “might” indicates that we have a decision to make. In fact, it is a very important decision that determines where we will spend our eternity.

Contrary to what you may have heard, Jesus does not send people to hell. John 3:18 tells us who determines that decision  “Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.  We send ourselves to hell, by denying Jesus Christ. But if we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we insure ourselves with an eternity with Him.

The Bible says in Romans 9:10 “If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” First you believe in your heart, then, you confess with your words that Jesus is your Lord and you will be saved. And this eternal salvation is for whoever calls on the name of the Lord (see Acts 2:21). Regardless of what you may have done, God will forgive you of all your sins (see Ephesians 1:7). And the beauty of salvation is this Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (See 2 Corinthians 5:17.)

True salvation is not complicated when we understand the basics of faith.

MY IDEA WENT TO THE DOGS!

My idea literally went to the dogs! During my ministry travels amongst the poor I had made a decision that years later would go to the dogs.

I have purchased thousands of Bibles and have given them away to needy people who couldn’t afford to purchase a copy for themselves.

Seeing the gratitude they had to receive just one copy of God’s Word, I decided that I would keep the Bible that I had for the rest of my life.

This Bible has traveled the World with me. It has accompanied me to some of the World’s largest cities, and then to some of the most remote places on the earth. What a wonderful travel companion it has been to me.

This Bible has survived thousands of miles of travel on rough terrain, airport checks, dirt, dust, spills, and even the hands of little children.

It has been a powerful guide for the past 20 years that would alter my world views on life. I know exactly where to find a favorite Scripture within a few seconds. It’s margins are filled with personal handwritten notes that I jotted down, and it also has important scribbles that a few of my children made when they were just toddlers.

During a recent visit to my parents home, their new puppy curiously checked out my things and got a hold of my Bible and chewed up many of its precious pages. Apologetically, my mom presented me my Bible. My immediate thoughts went to my decision I had made years before that this would be the only Bible I would own. I looked down at the puppy sheepishly wagging it’s tail and thought, “Now that idea went to the dogs!”

And as I meditate on this incident, I’ve come to the conclusion that some of my ideas about God should have gone to the dogs, because they were not correct. Beliefs that did not match up to the Word, especially my early beliefs as a young Christian in the area of God’s character, and the ways of the Holy Spirit, and all that He provides for us, especially healing and miracles.

Since then I have a new Bible that I read and enjoy very much. It is a different version that I have been reading from for so many years, and so it causes me to look at certain verses with a new light. And my prayer for you, the reader of these posts, is that I can guide you through the healing Scriptures and shed the light of His revelation that He wills to heal you of all things, all the time.

And in regards to my new Bible, it too will accompany me around the World, and I am sure that its contents will cause many of my crazy ideas to go to the dogs as well. But when it comes to healing, my faith only continues to strengthen as I study God’s word about it.

“Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.”      2 Tim. 2:15.

What We Believe

God

We believe in God, the Father, (see Is 64:8), God, the Son, Jesus Christ, (see John 1:1), and God, the Holy Spirit, (see 1 Co 2:10), and that they are one. (See 1 John 5:7.)

The Bible

We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God. (2 Tim. 3: 16-17). And that it is alive and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, it pierces and divides our souls (minds and emotions) from our spirits (eternal-beings), and it discerns the thoughts and intentions of our hearts. (See Heb. 4:12.)

Sin and Redemption

We believe that by our willful disobedience, our sin separates us from God (see Rom 5:12), we deserve death and eternal damnation, but Jesus took our place, (see IS 53:3-5), and by His grace, and not by our good works, we can receive forgiveness from all our sin by the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ. (See Eph 1:7). He became sin for us, so that we could be made righteous (see 2 Co 5:21), and He became the curse so that we could be free from the curse (see Gal 3:13-14).

The Way to Eternal Salvation

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, (see Acts 4:12), salvation is a free gift and is received by those that choose to believe, (see John 3:16). And whoever confesses Jesus as Lord and believes in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead will be saved. (See Romans 10:9-10.) Once we make this decision, we are born-again (see John 3:3), and we become new creations, old things are passed away, and all things become new. (See 2 Co 5:17.)

Sacraments

We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances of the Church, to be observed until the time of Christ’s return. They are not a means of salvation, but two spiritual requirements for those that have been born-again. (Mt. 26:26–29; 28:19; Rom. 6:3–11; 1 Cor. 11:23–34; 1 Pet. 3:21)

Creation

We believe that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen 1:1). And everything He created was very good, (see Gen 1:31).

Our Image and Authority

We believe we are created in the mirror image of God (see Gen 1:26), a little lower than Elohim (see Ps 8:5), and that He gave us authority and dominion over this earth (see Gen 1:27-28, Ps 8:6).

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and we speak with other tongues. (See Acts 2:1-4.) We do not always know how to pray, but the Holy Spirit within us intercedes on our behalf the perfect will of the Father. (See Rom 8: 26-27.) When we pray in tongues we edify ourselves, (see 1 Co 14:4). And like the Apostle Paul, we encourage you to do the same, (see Acts 19:6) Also, we believe that we have the power of the Holy Spirit to be a witness to the ends of the earth. (See Acts 1:8.)

Ministering Healing to the Sick

We believe in the supernatural healing power given to us through the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ. (See Isaiah 53:4-5.) And as His ambassadors, (see 2 Cor 5:20), we are to go out into all the world, and if we believe we will lay hands on the sick and they will be healed from sickness and delivered from demons. (See Mark 16:15-18.) Because just as Jesus is so are we in this world, (see 1Jn 4:17), with full authority over satan and all of his wicked works, including sickness and disease, (see Luke 10:19), and even greater works will we do then Jesus did if we believe, (see John 14:12).

Godly Character for Christians

We believe as sons and daughters of God that we are to bear the fruits of His Spirit which are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (See Galatians 5:22-23.)

Ministry Gifts

We believe that every person in the body of Christ is unique and important. (See 1 Co 12.) We believe in the 5-fold ministry, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, and that they are called and appointed by God, (see Eph 4:11).

Gifts of the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Gifts of the Spirit, the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healings, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues and the interpretation of tongues, and that these gifts are distributed as the Holy Spirit wills. (See 1 Co 12.)

Ministry to Unbelievers

We believe the Church has been given a great responsibility and that we are to go out with the power of the Holy Spirit, with signs and wonders following, and preach the gospel to all people. Those that believe will be saved, and those that do not will be condemned. (See Mark 16: 14-18.)

The Last Days

We believe that we are living in the last days, and that the return of Jesus Christ is soon. We do not believe that anyone can predict the date of Christ’s return, because it says in Matthew 24:36, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” But God does want us to be ready and teaches us the signs of the end-times in Matthew 24: 3-15. And Jesus says to us, “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.” (See Revelation 22:12.)

We look forward to the great and glorious day, but until then we plan on being about our heavenly Father’s business and invite as many as will come. (See Proverbs 11:30.)
