Steps to Take to Voice Activate Your Faith

A word of encouragement for you today to help you with steps to take to voice activate your faith.

God’s Word in Proverbs 18:21 teaches us that, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” In other words, your words are full of supernatural power to produce life or death. In fact, you are releasing life or death into every situation by the power of your everyday words. When we allow ourselves to mediate upon this biblical fact about the power of our words it causes us to realize that we have been given a major responsibility and we need to take the use of our words serious.

If you are a person of many words, who blurts out their thoughts instead of taking time to consider what we should or should not say then this is my spiritual advice to you. “Stop! Your words are recking havoc not only in your life, but in the lives of those around you.” Ouch! That kind of hurts, but your constant flow of words is causing a lot of damage, and with the help of the Lord, you can stop this out-of-control behavior. Here are a few steps for you to take to bring your usage of words under submission to the Lord.

  1. Repent for the mismanagement of your words.
  2. Surrender your mouth and the use of your words to the Lord Jesus, Himself.
  3. Begin to listen to what you speak, and ask yourself, “Do I really want what I just said to come to pass?”
  4. And remember, with God all things are possible, even surrendering my usage of words to God.

Then we have the opposite type of person who is afraid to speak. This too is a misuse of the power of your words. God has given to you a great gift–the power of the spoken word. He created people, including you in His mirror image, (See Genesis 1:26-28.), and expects each of us to represent Him well. A well-rounded ambassador knows understands just how important their words are, and so should we, who are called by His name, and proclaim to be followers of Jesus Christ. The enemy, satan desires for you to live in fear, and be afraid to speak up and let your voice be heard. Don’t give into the devil’s tactics against you. I’ve included a list of steps for you to put into action, beginning now.

  1. Repent for allowing yourself to be controlled by a spirit of fear.
  2. Make a quality decision to voice activate the power of your words today.
  3. Empower yourself to overcome the fear of people, and their possible disapproval of your thoughts and opinions.
  4. If someone starts to speak the negative around you, or about you, speak up! And say, “Excuse me, but I disagree with what you say.” And share from your heart what you believe to be God’s response to the situation.
  5. And voice activate this Scripture over yourself daily. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, Philippians 4:13.

We’ve talked about two types of people here, the over-talker, and the one that is afraid to speak up. But what about everyone else that falls somewhere in between? We all need to be aware of the power of our words. Each one of us can fall into the mismanagement of the usage of our words, and we don’t want this. But I also want to say, we can all learn how to use our words for the glory of the Lord. Here is a list for all of us to consider and put into action.

  1. Listen to the words that we speak.
  2. Ask ourselves, “Do I really desire what I just said to come to pass?”
  3. Apologize when we realize we said something we should not have said to someone.
  4. Repent for saying words that go against the well-being of our own physical body, or our present situation.
  5. And ask Holy Spirit how to reword those misused words and say aloud what He tells you to speak.
  6. And remember, “With God all things are possible”, see Matthew 19:26. Even learning to correctly voice activate the power of our words is possible.

The Blessings of Faithfulness

Today we are going to consider the blessings of faithfulness by looking at the church in Philadelphia from Revelation 3: 7-13. Let’s begin by reading this portion of Scripture from the New King James Version of the Bible.

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’

In verse eight He says, “I know your works.” Now according to the Scriptures, we realize that we do not earn our Salvation by our good works, but that we are created to do good works. Ephesians 2:8-10 says, For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Good works is also a matter of the heart, and the manner in which we do them reveals our intentions. Matthew 5:16 tells us, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” We can perform good works for God’s glory or for our own. And obviously the one that does them for God’s glory works them from a faithful heart to the Lord. The motive of the other is self-seeking, and people-pleasing, and misses the mark entirely. We are to glorify our Father in heaven by our good works.

The questions we should examine ourselves with here are, “Why am I doing what I do?” And “Who receives the glory for what I do?”

Because the church in Philadelphia passes the test of good works, they are found to be faithful, and receive a special promise, “I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it.” The seed of faithfulness harvests an open door to Heaven. And we want this door wide open with no hinderances between us and Father God. We need His approval for what we do on this earth. And faith is the only thing that pleases Him. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”, Hebrews 11:6.  May we be diligent in our faith walk to please Him, and to honor Him in all that we do.

What are a few things that stood out to our Lord about these followers of His?

He notes, “for you have a little strength”. You may think that you are weak, but the good news is that even when we feel weak, He remains strong in us. And He never intends for us to do this all on our own, but to rely upon His strength and power. He gives us these encouraging words in Zechariah 4:6, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” He gives to us all that we have need of during difficult times, His Spirit.

He also acknowledges that they, “Have kept My word.” Psalm 119:105 guides us with these words, “Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.” His Word is our guiding light in the darkness of this earth. It’s our spiritual map to live life by.

And one last characteristic in verse eight that I want to address that Jesus uses to judge them faithful is that they, “and have not denied My name.” We are living in turbulent times, and we are seeing the faithless denying His name. And unfortunately, we are going to witness this more and more, but even though many fall away, does not mean we have to. We have a choice to make, either we acknowledge or deny the name of our Lord. Let us make the right choice and acknowledge Him in all of our ways. Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” And one final verse from Matthew 24:13, (AMP), “But the one who endures and bears up [under suffering] to the end will be saved.”

You see, there are major spiritual blessings to being faithful to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Let us pray.

“Father God, we choose to put our complete trust in You, and to acknowledge You in all our ways. We make the quality decision to serve you, and not ourselves, and to glorify You with our good works that You created us to do. Help us during times of weakness, remind us that You have given to us all we need during turbulent times–Your Spirit. Holy Spirit, You are a rich and wonderous gift to us, and You remain strong within us always. Help us to remain faithful and true to You, Father God, Jesus, our Redeemer, and Holy Spirit, our Comforter. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, amen.”

Religious and Spiritually Dead

It’s sad to me that people can believe that they are followers of Jesus, and yet be spiritually dead. Our Lord addresses this very issue in the Book of Revelation 3:1-6, (AMP). He says, “To the angel (divine messenger) of the church in Sardis write:

“These are the words of Him who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: ‘I know your deeds; you have a name (reputation) that you are alive, but [in reality] you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen and reaffirm what remains [of your faithful commitment to Me], which is about to die; for I have not found [any of] your deeds completed in the sight of My God or meeting His requirements. So remember and take to heart the lessons you have received and heard. Keep and obey them, and repent [change your sinful way of thinking, and demonstrate your repentance with new behavior that proves a conscious decision to turn away from sin]. So then, if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. But you [still] have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes [that is, contaminated their character and personal integrity with sin]; and they will walk with Me [dressed] in white, because they are worthy (righteous). He who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God] will accordingly be dressed in white clothing; and I will never blot out his name from the Book of Life, and I will confess and openly acknowledge his name before My Father and before His angels [saying that he is one of Mine]. He who has an ear, let him hear and heed what the Spirit says to the churches.’

In verse one He says to them that they call themselves believers, but they’re not. He knows their deeds, He sees what they are up too, and quite frankly their actions do not line up to a true believer in Jesus. And He gives them a warning and tells them that they need to repent.

So many people think they are Christians and will spend their eternity in heaven, but they are deceived. They have not met God’s requirements. And just what does He require of us? Romans 10:9 clearly tells us, “”If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” You can repeat godly sayings, even Scriptures all you want, but if you do not believe in your heart, it’s all in vain. And how do you know if you truly believe in your heart? Your actions will show you whether you believe or not.  James 2:26 says it like this, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” You can gather together with other Church folk on Sundays and holidays and take part in the religious activities, but outside of that atmosphere you live for yourself, for your own sinful desires. And it’s these ungodly actions that prove you don’t really believe. If you really did, you wouldn’t behave the way you do. You say, “But I do believe!” Congratulations! James 2:19 says it like this, “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!”

What I want you to see is this, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved,” Acts 4:12. Jesus says in John 3:3, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” And how do we do this? We believe in our hearts, and confess with our words, “I believe, Jesus is Lord.” And your thoughts, your words, and your daily actions will begin to transform. And those around you will witness the change in your life.

Let us not spend our lives acting religious, when in reality we are spiritually dead. Let’s be real with ourselves, and with God. Let’s pray.

“Father God, I have really missed it. I have been acting all religious, but inwardly I see that I have been spiritually dead. I don’t want to be like the demons, who believe, but are filled with evil. No, I repent of all ungodliness in my life. Forgive me, I have been so wrong. I have been self-centered, self-seeking, and oh, so lost. But today, is a new day. And I do believe in my heart that You are who You say You are. You are the One and only way to Salvation. I not only ask You to forgive me of all evil thoughts, words, and sinful actions, but I surrender my life to You. I ask You to be my Savior. And I ask You, Holy Spirit to teach me how to live like I truly believe, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

In Need of Forgiveness for Tolerating Jezebel & Sin

Let us go to the Scriptures as we continue to examine our hearts during these 21 days of this Daniel fast to revive our spirit-being, refresh our personal relationship with the Lord, and examine our spiritual condition and make any necessary changes to overcome the attacks of the devil. Shall we begin?

In the Book of Revelation 2:18-29, (NASB). 18 “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write:

The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and feet like burnished bronze, says this:

19 ‘I know your deeds, and your love and faith, and service and perseverance, and that your deeds of late are greater than at first. 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with plague, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. 24 But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them—I place no other burden on you. 25 Nevertheless what you have, hold firmly until I come. 26 The one who overcomes, and the one who keeps My deeds until the end, I will give him authority over the nations; 27 and he shall rule them with a rod of ironas the vessels of the potter are shattered, as I also have received authority from My Father; 28 and I will give him the morning star. 29 The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

This is the fourth Church addressed in this portion of Scripture. What we see concerning the church in Thyatira is that she is the portion of God’s people who refuse to repent of their worldly ways. And they are so deceived that they even allow a spirit of Jezebel to lead them. And because they tolerate Jezebel in their midst, they suffer with sickness, great tribulations (difficulties), and even their children are affected with pestilence.

As a healing minister, I have never seen God’s people as sick as I do now. I believe this is a direct consequence of allowing the evil of Jezebel to reign within the body of Christ.

So, this leads us to today’s examination questions, “Am I struggling to repent from ungodliness?” “Do I tolerate and permit the Jezebel spirit to have its way within my home, Church, or office?” If I have done so in the past, “What am I going to do about it today?”

Let’s pray.

“Father God, I pray this simple, but heart-felt prayer of repentance. I ask for Your forgiveness for being stiff-necked towards Your Holy Spirit wooing me to repent of my willful sins. And I also ask You to forgive me for being passive, and not speaking up against the evils of society that have crept into my Church, home, and/or business. I desire to please you, to take a stand for righteousness, and to do what’s right in Your sight. Holy Spirit, help me to untangle myself from this sticky web of Jezebel that’s all around me. I desire to be free, and I desire my family to be free as well. Forgive me, because I put up with the wickedness of Jezebel, and did not understand how destructive it was to me and my family. I thank You for Your forgiveness, and I put my trust in You to lead in the way of Everlasting. In Your most holy name, I pray, amen.”

Is My Place of Worship in Right Standing with Jesus?

We are examining our hearts and locating where we are spiritually by looking at the seven churches that Jesus addresses in the Book of Revelation. We talked about the Church of Ephesus, and how they fell out of love with Jesus, and asked ourselves the hard question, “Do I still love Jesus like I once did before?” Then we read about the Church of Smyrna, who are persecuted for their faith in our Lord. And we questioned ourselves, “Do I have the level of faithfulness it takes to endure persecution?” These are tough questions, but we want to revive our spirit-being, to refresh our personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to examine our spiritual condition so that we can make the necessary adjustments to overcome the wiles of the enemy.

Today, we are going to look at the next Church addressed in Revelation 2:13-17. “‘I “know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is; and you hold firmly to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.  But I have a few things against you, because you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality. So you too, have some who in the same way hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will wage war against them with the sword of My mouth. The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows except the one who receives it.’”

The Church here in Pergamum are not part of the true Church. Infact, Jesus says their dwelling is with satan. They are a cult. Their sins are idol worship, false gods, false teachings, and acts of immorality. They are spiritually lost and receive the warning to repent, or He will make war against them. These are very strong words to hear God speak forth. But there are so called Churches, that are so full of the devil, and personal relationship, and teaching their people to walk in holiness is so far from their goals. They are enemies of God, not to be trusted, not to be attended, and they are to be called out for the deceptiveness.

Here’s a few questions you should ask yourself, “Does my place of worship lift up Jesus as the true God? Do they encourage the people to be born-again? Do they teach the Word of God? Or do they promote tolerance of evil? Have they become more concerned about being politically correct, than teaching people to be free from their sin?” The final question to ask yourself right now, “Is my place of worship in right standing with Jesus?” If your place of worship does not teach the truth, then you need to find a new place of worship.

Let’s pray.

“Father God, I don’t like it, but my place of worship is not a true place of worship. You and the plan of redemption are not the foundation. They are changing their views and are lining themselves up with the sins of this world. I repent for being a part of this madness. Forgive me, for not taking a stand, and looking for a new place of worship. Holy Spirit, lead me to a new Church where you really are the center, where I can grow in the power of the Word. In Jesus’ name, amen and amen.”

Do I Have What it Takes to Endure Persecution?

We see that difficult times are upon us, and that persecution against us is ramping up. And many fear what might happen, and others question if they have what it takes to endure persecution. Let’s examine our hearts and ask ourselves the hard question, “Can I endure these difficult times?”

How does our Lord Jesus respond to the church in Smyrna? Let’s read this portion of Scripture to find out.

“8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write:

The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:

‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the slander by those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11 The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.’

They do not hear a rebuke, but only words of encouragement. Who are they? They are the persecuted Church. He encourages them to not fear their imminent sufferings, but to be faithful to the end.

Therefore, the question to ask ourselves is, “Do I have the level of faithfulness it takes to endure persecution?”” Revelation 2: 8-11, NASB.

As we read, we see that they do not receive a rebuke, but only words of encouragement. Who are these Church goers? They are the persecuted Church. And He encourages them to not fear their imminent sufferings, but to be faithful to the end.

What else do we read about fear in God’s Word, that will help us to remain fearless? We read in Second Timothy 1:7, “ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Fear is beyond just an emotion, it is a spirit, and it is not a spirit that comes from God. And instead of fear He gives to us power. In Zechariah 4:6 we are told, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” Our Lord knows what we are about to face, and He personally understands what it will take for us to overcome this spirit of fear. And where does this power come from? And what will we do with this power? Acts 1:8 makes it plain, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

According to Second Timothy 1:7, we not only receive power, but also love. There is power in love, and quite frankly without love we are powerless. First John 4:16 tells us, “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” Just as supernatural power is found in Him, so too is love. He doesn’t just love, He is love. And it will take His power fueled by His love to overcome persecution. Our love for Him will keep us on the straight and narrow, even during times of tribulation, difficult times.

We are also told in Second Timothy 1:7, that instead of fear we are given a sound mind. During these intense times we see how our enemy, satan is attacking our mind and emotions, to wear us out so that we give up the fight. But let’s not give up this good fight of faith but take the enemy head on and bring him down and walk in the victory we have been given. As we see in His Holy Word, we have been given the mind of Christ. And His Word is sharper than any two-edged sword, and it pierces us down in our inner most being.

This message may be simple, but it’s filled with reassurance, that even in times of persecution for our faith, He will be with us. And He has equipped us with powerful weapons of faith such as power, love, and a sound mind to endure even in times of persecution.

Let’s pray.

“Father God, You tell us not to be afraid, and I need to confess that sometimes I struggle with fear about being persecuted. I am not filled with fear because I think You are weak, but that I know my own frailties spiritually. And sometimes I am unfaithful to trust You to protect me. I know this is not right, and I desire to get to the place where I know that I know, I trust You. I trust You no matter what they say to me, or how they act out against me. I choose to rely upon Your strength, and I thank You that You are faithful to me. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Do I Still Love My Savior, Jesus?

Today begins the start of a twenty-one day “Daniel Fast”. And during this time of fast and prayer, I want to help you to begin to purge your spirit of unwanted baggage that can cause a blockage between you and the Lord. The first seven days I want us to focus on the seven churches addressed in the Book of Revelation. Over the years, I have spent much time contemplating this all-important message to the follower of Christ today. And believe me when I say, “This will help you to locate where you are spiritually today and make necessary changes to where you want and need to be.” Let’s begin with the first message to the Church in Ephesus found in Revelation 2: 1-7, (NASB).

“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:

The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this:

‘I know your deeds and your labor and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people, and you have put those who call themselves apostles to the test, and they are not, and you found them to be false; and you have perseverance and have endured on account of My name, and have not become weary. But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and I will remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. But you have this, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will grant to eat from the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.’

This first message to the churches addresses the Church in Ephesus and the condition of the spiritual hearts. God recognizes their deeds, their labor, their perseverance, their intolerance for evil people, and their discernment to judge false apostles. It appears with these qualities that they will have God’s approval, but they don’t.  In fact, even though they are godly in behavior, they fail and receive a warning to repent, or they will lose their position to shine their light. And why do they fail? They fail because they lose their love for Christ. And just as this is a warning for the Church of Ephesus, it is also a warning for God’s people today, in the midst of trying to live a godly lifestyle, abiding by the guidelines and boundaries set up for us by the Spirit of God, we can lose our focus, our reason for living a holy lifestyle–our Savior, Jesus. And by striving to be good and godly we forget about Him, take Him for granted, and our Christian behaviors override our love for Him. I don’t believe any of us set out to find us in this spiritual condition, but obviously it happens more frequently than we would like to admit, otherwise it would not have been addressed to the Church in the Book of Revelation.

What do we do if we find ourselves in this undesirable situation? The Spirit of God tells us what to do in verse five, “Remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first.” God so lovingly warns us of the dangers of striving to be good and godly that we can unintentionally lose our focus, and take Him for granted, and forget how much He loves us, and desires or us to love Him in return.

Let’s pray.

“Father God, forgive me for striving so hard to be good and godly that I have forgotten my reason, and my source for surrendering to You in the first place. I do love You; I do desire to have a close and intimate relationship with You. I recognize that You are not only my Savior who delivered, forgave, and redeemed me from hell and myself, but You are my Lord; the One that I adore, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

And remember this is a time of prayer with fasting, so I will include personal prayers to help you during this personal 21 Day Daniel Fast beginning, Monday, January 3rd through Sunday, January 23rd.
