Be Strong and Courageous this Year
“Be strong and courageous this year even in the midst of fear and uncertainty.” These are the straightforward and prophetic words I hear for the start of this new year. God is well-aware of the state of our soul. He understands and cares about the health and well-being of our mind and emotions. He understands our thoughts are being taxed with fearful reports. He sees that His people are in a struggle to hold onto their faith in Him and remain strong and courageous as we face this new year together.
Many were hopeful that the start of this new year would be the end of the hardships of the past year. We imagined as we opened up that new calendar we received at Christmas it would be unmarked with the turbulence of yesterday. But as we all found out, many of these same issues are still with us today at the start of the new year. Even still, God’s words are ringing out to us, “Be strong and courageous this year even in the midst of fear and uncertainty.”
There are many battles for the Church to fight this coming year. Now is not the time to give up and allow the enemy to trample all over us. Here is a command given to a mighty warrior of God–Joshua. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go,” Joshua 1:9. And this command is for the modern day Joshua as well. Therefore, let us adhere to these words, and take and carry them deep within our hearts knowing that wherever we go this year–Immanuel, God is with us. And “Be strong and courageous this year even in the midst of fear and uncertainty.”

Contagious and Infectious Faith
Contagious and infectious faith, you can have it–and you should. But do you? Is your faith so contagious that those around you can’t help but become infected with your infectious faith? Let us take a few moments to think on this today.
We are living in the last days, when light is clashing with darkness. And great is the darkness, but how much greater is the light of our Messiah within us. But are we allowing His light to shine through us? Or are we hiding this eternal light of truth and allowing those around us to wander into the wilderness of the lost?
What does God’s Word have to say in Ephesians 5:11 from the Amplified Version of the Bible about this spiritual darkness? “Do not participate in the worthless and unproductive deeds of darkness, but instead expose them [by exemplifying personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character].” He equates this spiritual darkness with worthless and unproductive deeds. We are not to allow ourselves to be overcome by this darkness, but we are to expose these worthless and unproductive deeds. And how do we do this? We expose spiritual darkness by exemplifying personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character.
And just how do we exemplify personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character? By walking in the supernatural fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” We walk in error when we think that these fruits of the Spirit are traits of a weakling. They are not weak character traits. Let’s talk about activating some of these traits in today’s world.
The first fruit of the Spirit listed is love. I’m telling you it is not easy to love people that hate and despise us. And today’s society is full of hate-filled people. They don’t know love, and they can’t know love unless they encounter love, God, Himself. And they will never walk in His love if we do not shine with the infectious faith of love. And how will we reveal His love to them? John 13:35 tells us how, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” We must manifest the supernatural change of repentance amongst one another if we are going to win the Lost to the Lord.
Another fruit of the Spirit is longsuffering. And we are going to have to strengthen our spiritual muscles with His character trait of longsuffering. We, the Church are entering into a time of persecution when we must be long in suffering amongst a loveless society so we can walk in another fruit of the Spirit–faithfulness. What do the Scriptures have to say about all of this? Let’s turn to Matthew 24: 9-10,12-13 to find out.
Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Matthew 24:9-10.
And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. Matthew 24:12-13.
And then we have to combine these with the other remaining fruits; joy in the midst of a grieving world, God’s peace while the people of this earth are at war against Jesus in us, and kindness instead of society’s cruelty. And we must not forget to live within the bounds of God’s goodness, gentleness and self-control while in the midst of a mean-spirited, harsh and out of control world. Not one of these fruits of the Spirit belongs to a weakling, but to one who knows who they are in Christ and oozes with the contagious and infectious faith of Christ, our Lord.

The Ultimate Fact-Checker
The ultimate fact-checker is the Word of God, and not this world’s ungodly fact-checking system. What does God’s Word say concerning the basic facts of life, and how we are to live like Christ? Let’s look to this ultimate fact-checker and find out if what we say or what we are being told is the truth or a lie.
When the world tells you the situation is impossible, remind yourself what God’s Word says, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26.”
While the situation may look hopeless, double-check with the Ultimate Fact-Checker, God’s Holy Word, and declare, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit, Romans 15:13.”
Check in with the Ultimate Fact-Checker when society’s confusion is clouding your pathway, and take comfort knowing what God would say to us, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope, Jeremiah 29:11.”
Reminding ourselves with the true facts and not the world’s lies in just these three verses above give us the faith to believe that the answer to our present situation is possible with God, and in Him and with Him we may abound with hope. And that we do not need to settle for society’s confusion, but be reassured that God has a plan, a future and a hope for us. It is vital in these last days that we keep our mind focused upon the Ultimate Fact-Checker, the promises of God to see us through each and every day. Let us look at a few more Biblical facts to help us.
When the ungodly try to set a snare for us to fall into the realm of fear, let us remind ourselves with God’s facts and declare over our mind and emotions today that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind, 2 Timothy 1:7”.
When the news all around us is filled with the negative report that we are going to get sick and die, let us holdfast to God’s healing promise from Isaiah 53:4-5 from the Amplified Version of the Bible and speak these words of prophetic healing power over ourselves and loved ones, “But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, and He has carried our sorrows and pains; yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; the punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, and by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.”
When the world has fallen into financial calamity let us tap into God’s kingdom principles and say and do what He instructs us to do, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you, Luke 6:38.”
While the world is stressed beyond measure, turn to the Ultimate Fact-Checker and allow God’s words of comfort flood your soul, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid, John 14:27.”
As we review these three Scriptures shared above we see that God’s Son, Jesus Christ has healed us from all sickness and disease in spirit, soul and in physical body, that as we give God will give back to us to meet our daily needs, and that we need not fear, but can choose to tap into His peace that is out of this world.
I pray that you will take and ponder upon these six promises of God from the Ultimate Fact-Checker, God’s Holy Bible and allow His peace, strength, healing, protection and provision overtake the falsehoods of this world.

How God’s Justice System Works (A Lesson From the Manger)
How does God’s justice system work in a world filled with chaos and fraud? This is an all important message from the manger that we need to learn and implement in our lives today. Let’s turn our eyes to Who is placed within the manger to learn the workings of God’s justice system.
And Who is placed in that manager on that most holy night? Jesus. And Who is Jesus? He is the Son of God. And what did Father God do with His Son, Jesus Christ? He gave. Let’s turn to the famous Scripture, John 3:16 for further insight. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This verse of Scripture is packed with how God’s justice system works. Let’s take a few moments to ponder upon its meaning.
For the sake of time, lets turn to Romans 5:19 first which clearly explains to us how sin entered into the world, and the remedy for it, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” Sin was introduced into our world by Adam (See Adam and Eve’s willful act of disobedience in Genesis 3.), but Jesus Christ came down to this earth in the form of a human being to restore God’s law and order by becoming the supreme sacrifice for our sin. And what an unselfish gift from God Jesus’ saving grace truly is.
John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the world”. God is so in love with you that He gave the very best, and most costly gift He could give–His Son, Jesus. And He doesn’t just love you, He loves all people throughout the earth–present, past and future generations. This love He has for us doesn’t mean He approves of our evil, sinful actions, but that He loves us. And this love factor will never change. Romans 5:8 beautifully tells us, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” His love for us is not based upon our actions. He loves us no matter what. Even if we do not love Him, He loves us. And Jesus Christ is God’s gift to the world, but just like any other gift, it has to be opened to benefit the receiver. How do we open up this precious Gift of God? We believe in “The Gift” given to us from the Father.
John 3:16 reveals more to us about God’s justice system and how it operates. It says, “Whoever believes in Him should not perish.” What does it mean to perish? In Strong’s G622 to perish means to be destroyed, to kill, be put to death, given over to misery in hell. This is a very strong word, one that the world doesn’t want to hear–but must hear. And we are the ones that must speak the truth to them in love that there is a heaven and a hell. And that we are the ones responsible to choose our eternal destiny.
Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Revelation 20:11-15 reveals even more about God’s justice system, “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Sin is the injustice, death is the consequence, and the eternal punishment for sin is hell. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer and Savior from sin, hell and ourselves. And we are the deciding factor–we make the decision of where we will spend our eternity in heaven or in hell. God’s justice system works by our believing or not believing in Him and in His promises. Let’s pray.
Father God,
Help me to see the truth in Your Word. Holy Spirit, lead me and guide me into all truth concerning the Living Word–Jesus Christ. Help me to rightly discern Your justice system, and how to tap into Your amazing grace that was birthed in a manger so long ago. And even though this event took place so many years ago, the loving power behind His birth has never lost its power. I choose this day to walk in this power of saving grace in the midst of a world filled with chaos and fraud. I tap into your heavenly justice system.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Truth Prevails
Truth prevails–it always has, and it always will. It may take time to bring forth, but it will come. And it may be painful, but it will set us free. This is the day’s topic, and I believe it will help you today.
We are going to turn our eyes towards the manager scene and see some of the truths that were birthed that day. Let’s begin with the birth of the long-awaited Messiah. Israel had heard for many years the words of the prophets and here are seven of their prophecies about the Christ.
We read back in Genesis 3:15 that the Messiah would be born of a woman, His place of birth would be in Bethlehem (See Micah 5:2.), He would be born of a virgin (See Isaiah 7:14.), He would come from the line of Abraham (See Genesis 12:3, 22:18.), He would be a descendant of Isaac (See Genesis 17:19, 21:12.), and a descendant of Jacob (See Numbers 24:17.), and He would come from the tribe of Judah (See Genesis 49:10.) These are just seven prophesies of a long list of prophetic truths that came to pass about the long-awaited Messiah. And although it took many years to come forth, they did.
Perhaps you have received a prophetic word of the Lord, but because it didn’t come to pass immediately you have judged it as false. But I am here to testify to you that this assumption is not true. I know I have received prophetic words of promise from the Lord, and some came to pass immediately, while others have taken time–a long time to form in that supernatural realm before they were birthed into the physical realm. And I am still waiting for some promises to come to pass, but I believe they will, because truth always prevails.
What are my reasons to believe in the prophetic power of truth? Why can I be so sure that truth always prevails? Here are 3 reasons why I am so confident in truth to prevail.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6.
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Numbers 23:19.
If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. 2 Timothy 2:13.
I realize that we live in a fallen world, and the spirit of antichrist is rising up against us. This has been a tremendous year, and still has not settled down. Circumstances all around us appear to be chaotic–and they are. But even still, God cannot and will not deny Himself. And even though that truth seems prolonged, be completely confident that truth prevails.

Surrendering to God When It Doesn’t Make Sense
Surrendering to God even when it doesn’t make sense to do so is an important lesson we all have to learn in life. And this is our life lesson for today. We will look at the life of a young virgin girl, Mary in the Christmas story, and see how she surrenders to the will of God when it just doesn’t make sense.
Let’s read and find out what happens. Mary is a young virgin girl, betrothed to Joseph. The angel Gabriel appears to her and delivers the following message, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (See Luke 1:28, NKJV.) This is quite the situation, she is being visited by an angel who just greeted her with the most perplexing salutation. As we will read on in this supernatural encounter she really is a humble young woman, and probably didn’t see herself before as being highly favored or blessed among women. Gabriel continues on with his angelic purpose. He then declares to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”, Luke 1: 30-33.
What a frightful message to receive, and in the natural it doesn’t make any sense. She has never had sexual relations before, therefore she can not be expectant with child. And she even questions the angelic-being standing in front of her and responds with these words in verse 34, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And Gabriel explains to her how it will be in verse 35, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” And knowing what she is about to encounter from others in her life, he gives her a prophetic word about her cousin, Elizabeth, and then a promise. He says, “Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” What a powerful message this young virgin girl, Mary receives.
In the natural this message of the Lord is inconceivable to understand, and it will take sheer trust and faith to receive. And she so beautifully accepts the will of the Lord for her life–even though it doesn’t make sense in the natural. Let’s remind ourselves of her humble response, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to Your word.”, see Luke 1:38, NKJV.
We are all facing a world that is filled with chaos and uncertainty and we, like Mary have a decision to make–we can deny our destiny, or we can surrender to His will for our lives even when it doesn’t make sense to do so. Let’s pray.
“Father God,
We are facing great uncertainties in life, but we want to do the right thing and be pleasing in Your sight. We confess that Your ways do not always make sense to us, but we know in our hearts that You have a plan and a purpose for us to follow. And we remind ourselves that You have even given to us a spiritual map–Your Holy Word, and a personal spiritual guide–Your Holy Spirit, Who leads us and guides us into all truth. So now, with humble hearts we surrender and trust You and Your ways for the days that are ahead of us. We accept Your plans and purposes, and we will do as You instruct us, even if people lie about us, or mistreat us for doing so we earnestly say, “Let it be to us according to Your word.”
In Your most precious name, we pray, amen.”

Making Merry this Christmas
Making merry this Christmas may seem challenging, but it is possible, and not only is it possible it is necessary. Making merry doesn’t mean to get drunk or high as the world would have you to believe. That type of activity only leaves people feeling emotionally empty and in want for something more. Making merry this Christmas means something much richer than anything this world has to offer, and it will not leave you feeling empty, but fulfilled.
Making merry this Christmas is choosing joy over anxiety, depression and fear. This means making quality decisions that will alter the outcome of our day. It may not change our circumstances, but it will transform the foundation of our emotions. And as followers of Christ we cannot allow ourselves to be driven by negative emotions, but to choose to step into the realm of joy.
Joy is more than an emotion. It is a supernatural power given to us by God that will cause the devil to run from us. Let us see what the Bible has to say about joy.
Nehemiah 8:10 from the Amplified version of the Bible tells us, “Do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.” Instead of allowing worry to be our stronghold, let us allow joy to be our strength. You may be reading this and thinking to yourself, “That’s easy for you to say, you don’t know what I have been through!” And you are correct, I don’t know all that you have been through, but I too have had my share of tribulations on this earth and am showing you the way to overcome the negative stronghold of sorrow. Jeremiah 31:13 says, “I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.’” No matter how difficult the situation is, if we will make the decision to choose the “Joy of the Lord” in place of our pain we will find inner healing for our soul–our mind and emotions.
There is supernatural healing power in joy. Proverbs 17:22 teaches us that, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” Choose to take God’s medicine–joy, take it daily, not just once a day, but take it in large doses throughout the day. You cannot overdose on it. And I promise you, the more you ingest His joy, the quicker you will heal, and the stronger in life you will become.
Let us make merry this Christmas, and refrain from the negative emotions of anxiety, depression, and fear. Let us refresh our souls–our mind and emotions with the joy of the Lord and make His joy our supernatural strength and stronghold. And let us share this refreshing joy of the Lord with others and give them reason to make merry this Christmas too.
