Overflow with Confidence

I love this prayer prayed by the Apostle Paul on our behalf found in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.” It’s uplifting to know that our Lord Jesus is the God of hope. Hope is the precursor to faith, and we can’t have faith unless we first have hope, and we certainly can’t have real hope without God. And our God of hope fills us with all joy and peace.

Again my heart takes flight as I take the time to meditate upon this thought that He fills us with all joy, in other words He fills us with His supernatural strength. Nehemiah 8:10 tells us not to grieve for the joy of the Lord is our strength. Joy and strength go hand-in-hand, you can’t have one without the other. And He doesn’t want to give us a little bit of joy, but all joy. He wills that we are happy and strong in Him. Now this doesn’t necessarily mean we are laughing all the time, but isn’t it amazing how revitalized we are after a hearty laugh. I deal with the real hurts of people everyday of my life and I love how the Lord makes me laugh. He knows that I have to have a dose of His medicine–laughter every day of my life. See Proverbs 17:22.

And I guess this joy comes from knowing  that whatever difficulties I experience I have the peace of God that truly surpasses all human understanding and human intellect. This peace isn’t based upon feelings and it’s not an emotion, but an intimate place in our relationship with God. The closer you are to Jesus, the stronger this peace is.

This joy and peace are spiritual benefits from believing in the Holy Spirit’s power. For me it is reassuring that God doesn’t expect us to do His work in our own strength, but in His. Zechariah 4:6 reassures us that it is not by our might, nor by our power, but by His Spirit. The power of His Spirit empowers us daily, if we accept His might.

And it is by the power of His Spirit that we will abound in hope. Other ways to say abound with hope would be to be full of hope, overflow with hope, teem with hope, or to be packed with hope. When I allow myself the time to ponder the message of the Word my spiritual understanding deepens. I like the visual of my spirit being teemed with His hope by the power of Holy Spirit.

I can overflow with confidence in His promises to me. This is not about being confident in myself, but being totally confident in Him, and in His faithfulness to keep His promises to me. Therefore, I can do as Hebrews 4:16 encourages to do, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

A Declaration For Protection

Do you feel unsafe? Are you afraid? Have you received a disheartening medical report? God forewarns us that in this word we will have tribulation, meaning difficult times. Then He tells us to rejoice, not because of the difficult situations we are passing through, but that in Him we have the victory. One step to walk in this victory is to declare God’s Word over the situation. Try this, it will help you to strengthen your faith for God’s protection.

According to the Word of the Lord, I declare what I already possess over myself, and my family and friends in the mighty name of Jesus. And so now, I do declare that I dwell in the shelter of the Most High, I rest in the shadow of the Almighty, He is my refuge, my fortress, and my God, and I trust Him, (Psalm 91:1-2). The Lord is faithful, He will strengthen and protect me from the evil one, (2 Thessalonians 3:3). God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble, (Psalm 46:1). He is my hiding place, and will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance, (Psalm 32:7).

I sing to God, I sing in praise of His name, I extol Him who rides on the clouds, I rejoice before Him – His name is the Lord. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling, (Psalm 68:4-5). I cast my cares on the Lord and He sustains me, He will never let the righteous be shaken, (Psalm 55:22). I will lie down in peace and sleep, for He alone makes me dwell in safety, (Psalm 4:8).

The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1). I walk securely, because I walk in integrity, (Proverbs 10:9). I am prudent, I see danger and take refuge, (Proverbs 27:12). He is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for me because I trust in Him, (Nahum 1:7). He keeps me in perfect peace, my mind is steadfast, because I trust in Him, (Isaiah 26:3).

The Lord does not take me out of this world but He protects me from the evil one, (John 17:15). Because I trust in the Lord and do good I can dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture, (Psalm 37:3). The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe, (Proverbs 18:10). He will cover me with His feathers, and under His wings I will find refuge; His faithfulness will be my shield and rampart, (Psalm 91:4).

Victory You Will Not Lack

The Spirit of the Lord would say to you this day,

“Do not worry, do not fret, and certainly do not forget,

My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

I bore your pain and suffering upon My back,

So victory while on this earth you would not lack.

That old devil will try to bind you with his spirit of fear,

But I say, “Trust Me, for I am ever near.”

Do not play the enemy’s game,

His fame is to laden you with guilt and shame.

And his tactics remain the same, and his aim is to lame.

While My aim is to release you from his wicked game of shame and blame.

I shed My blood to set you free,

So you could be all I created you to be–blessed and highly favored.

And in this promise I will not waiver.

So set your sights upon My grace,

And as you gaze upon My face, know that I am with you to complete your race.

Beloved, I love you with a love from up above.

Soon the trumpet will blow,

And it will be quite the show.

My people from all ends of the earth will meet together around the throne.

That throne of grace, my what a mighty place, filled with a heavenly race, engulfed with the presence of the Almighty.

Be dressed and ready, and remain faithful and steady.

But while on this earth, and in eternity to come–victory you will not lack.

I’ve got you covered, I bore it all upon My back.”

I Live in You

Do you not know that you are My temple? My Spirit resides within you, but now I want to truly live in you.

Therefore, cleanse your temple, and start from the inside and work your way to the outside.

I’ve said to you, “Man looks on the outward appearance, that which is temporal, and is fading away.”

But I, the Lord your God, I look at the heart of the person. It is here where the truth of the matter resides.

Within the heart of the individual I find My light, or the enemy’s darkness. It is here that I see the spiritual condition, and from here I promote or I demote the physical status in My Kingdom.

In the temple that you create for Me, I desire to find first and foremost a regenerated and everlasting spirit that is born from up above.

A spiritual temple that is bought and paid for by the redemptive blood of My Son, Jesus.

I look for a place where My Spirit–Holy Spirit is welcomed and can freely flow out from.

And where I, your Father, am honored and respected.

I search for the one that is humble in spirit, where love for Me is true and unstained by the world.

It is in this temple that I am free to be Me–full of all power and  grace.

You cry out, “Create within me a clean heart.” And yes, this is the place to start, but you will have to do your part.

You are the one required to take up your cross daily, die to self and its selfish desires and sinful ways.

And as you take these initial steps you will find Me right at your side. I will never leave you, I will never forsake you.

It’s this temple that I will inhabit, one that is filled with praise. And you can’t praise Me in spirit and in truth if you don’t truly love Me. And when you truly love Me, the love of the world will vacate the premises, and I will be able to live, not just inhabit, but really live within you, and  reveal Myself strong through you.

Believing God For the Impossible

Perhaps you find yourself in the position of believing God for the impossible, but not sure how to get there. First of all, if you find yourself in the place of the impossible then you are in right standing for a miracle. If it’s possible in your own strength, then it’s not a miracle.

Believing God for the impossible is entering into the realm of faith, and before you can have faith you must have hope–hope for the miraculous. Hope in the strength of God where you defy man’s wisdom and strength, and willfully deny your own human reasoning and the power of your 5 senses.  The first step of faith may not be easy, but it is a must. You must have faith in God’s supernatural ability to obtain a miracle.

We read about a ruler of the synagogue named Jairus, he asked Jesus to come to his home to minister healing to his dying daughter, but she died before they started their journey. And in the midst of the death report Jesus said some pretty amazing words to him about the situation. He said, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” And after they arrived to Jairus’ house He said to the mourners, Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.”And it goes on to say that they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead. (Read this amazing account in Luke 8:40-56.)

Imagine how foolish Jesus looked to the mourners when He spoke words of life, instead of the obvious situation that lay before them. This is also why He made them all leave the room. In order for this little girl to come back to life, there could be no words of death, doubt and unbelief. Like Jesus, you are going to have to learn the power of your words, and speak life in the face of death.

Now Jairus had a decision to make, he was either going to agree with the majority and doubt the power of God in the situation, or he was going to believe, meaning he would have to deny his human reasoning, the power of his 5 senses, and the ridicule of those that thought they knew more about spiritual matters then Jesus did. He did  deny himself, and even the sympathy of the mourners. He believed Jesus for the impossible, and obtained it.

Believing God for the impossible doesn’t have to be complicated, but most often we make it more complicated then it needs to be. I teach regularly about the power of childlike faith. Childlike faith is not childish, but super strong in the field of trust. Where it is weak is in the arena of doubt and unbelief, human reasoning, and lacks the power of the 5 senses. Just as it should be–totally dependent upon the supernatural power of God to perform. And this is the stance that Jairus and his wife had to take.

The humble place of believing God for the impossible is misunderstood by the world and even by many of our fellow believers in Christ. But in order to overcome the impossible situation you must deny your flesh and your soul (mind and emotions) the pleasures of sympathy that doubt and unbelief produce, and believe God, no matter what. But look at all the good it produces–life, healing, restoration, joy, and possible out of impossible situations. Believing God is well worth it all.

Can You Talk Yourself to Death?

It might sound humorous, but can you talk yourself to death? It’s an interesting question to look at, especially when this cliché has been around for many years, “You’re going to talk yourself to death”.  And since clichés have been around for many years, most have grown up with them and automatically use them without ever giving thought to what they are actually saying.  But it is time to take a look at this old saying and hold it up to the light of God’s Word.

What does the Bible have to say about the way you speak and about your life in general? Let’s look at the following scripture and read for ourselves. We’ll start with Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” What did the Bible just say? There’s the power of what in our tongues? Life and death. I don’t know about you, but this sounds kind of serious to me. And to think that the tongue (our spoken language) has power to produce anything is a bit mind-boggling. But if the Holy Bible says it, then I believe it. After all it is our standard to live by, it is the infallible word of God.

And the second part of the verse has this to say, “and those who love it will eat its fruit.” I guess the next question to ask ourselves is “What type of fruit are we going to indulge upon?” Poisonous fruit or life-giving fruit. Holy Spirit is always visual with me, and as I write this last question I envision a large wooden bowl of fruit set on the table before me, some of it is poisonous, and the other fruit is full of life. It’s pretty obvious which fruit I would take and eat of–life-giving, of coarse.

So too it is with our words. And our precious Holy Spirit has set before us a beautiful bowl of powerful fruit to partake of everyday–spoken words. Some will harm us if not used properly, others will heal us in spirit, soul, and in our physical body as well. And we get to choose which fruit we will dine upon today.

And this leads us back to the original question, “Can you talk yourself to death?” According to God’s word, Yes, one can.

I can teach you how to use this stunning supernatural power that God has gifted to you more effectively in my new book, The Prophetic and Healing Power of Your Words. Words Can Dramatically Alter Lives

“I stand in awe many times over as I witness the prophetic healing power of the Spirit change and rearrange the lives of God’s people forever. A simple command of faith, “In Jesus’ name, I command this cancerous tumor to shrivel up and die,” and by morning the large tumor is gone and a woman’s life is dramatically altered.” Quote taken from Chapter 1, page 7, The Prophetic and Healing Power of Your Words.

I believe the Word of God when it says, “As Jesus is so are we on this earth.” See 1 John 4:17. Jesus was a man filled with faith when He walked this earth in the human form. And everything He did while here He did as we would do. He did not cheat. He did not call upon His God-powers in heaven. He left them there and came to show us how to live by faith according to the Father’s ways.

Take time to ponder upon this thought for a moment, “As Jesus is so are we on this earth.” What an amazing word from God! We are to emulate Him, act like Him, love like Him, and even speak like Him. And just how does He speak? With authority.  He was not passive with His words. He always spoke with a purpose. His words cut to the heart of the matter. He rebuked the religious, was compassionate with the hurting, He put satan and his demons in their place every time, and since His childhood on this earth was speaking in the realm of the prophetic.

He has a way with His words that dramatically alters the lives of those He comes into contact with, and so should we. We are to be like Him, and use this gift, the power of the spoken word and prophesy healing to all those in need in our arena of influence. Romans 4:17 teaches us to “call those things that are not as though they already were”, this is prophesying. And it is not as mysterious as one might think. We do it all the time, every time we open up our mouths we prophesy either life or death, see Proverbs 18:21.

With all of this in mind, perhaps we should learn to use this supernatural power, the gift of the spoken language in such a way that we create a change, alter the destiny of the lives of those around us for the glory of God. Learn how to surrender our words to Him, allow Holy Spirit to play a vibrant melody on the strings of our vocal chords.

I can teach you how to use your words to dramatically alter the lives of those around you for the glory of the Lord, especially in these last days in my new book, The Prophetic and Healing Power of Your Words. The Power of Your Speech

Have you ever stopped to think about the power of your speech? According to Proverbs 18:21 you have the power of life and death in your tongue. That’s amazing strength, and not to be taken lightly.  Consider the possibilities your miracle working words possess. With all this power in your tongue, perhaps it would be worthwhile to choose words with care.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit, Proverbs 18:21.

Everyday we are given opportunities to release the power of life and death with our words. According to God’s Word what we say really matters. What are we saying? What should we say? And what should we not say?

He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive, Proverbs 17:27-28.

If we will learn how to hold our tongues we will keep ourselves from a heap of unnecessary troubles.

Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles, Proverbs 21:23.

The power of our speech runs deep into the affairs of life and our words can be life-giving. Are we using them in a godly and mature manner? Are we producing what God desires us to produce–life?

The words of a man’s mouth are like deep waters [copious and difficult to fathom]; the fountain of [mature, godly] wisdom is like a bubbling stream [sparkling, fresh, pure, and life-giving], Proverbs 18:4, AMP.

I say it this way in my new book, The Prophetic and Healing Power of Your Words, “God creates the power of the tongue to release healing, to create miracles, and to build one another up in the faith–not to tear down and discourage one another.” If you want to learn more about the prophetic and healing power of your words check out the free preview of chapter 1.
