God Can Handle Our Mistakes

I was mentoring a dear friend of mine in the ways of the Spirit, and while we ere traveling in Tanzania together I asked her to share from her heart a testimony at the next service. At first she was apprehensive. She responded, “What if I make a mistake?” I replied, “God can handle our mistakes.”

During the earlier days of this training with the Holy Spirit, I recall a time when I did not heed the Lord’s voice quickly because I became sidetracked with something else.

While I was cooking black beans in the pressure cooker on the stove, I decided to take advantage of the time and went to clean out the storage area. I became distracted with the disorder in this room and forgot about the black beans on the stove, but the Lord remembered. He clearly said to me, “Go and shut the black beans off now.” I responded, “Oh, the beans!” I started off immediately to the kitchen, but before I could get out the door of the storage room I came across another mess that grabbed my attention. The Lord said to me again, “Go and shut the black beans off right now!” I said, “Yes, I will.” But again I became distracted. Then all of a sudden I heard a large BOOM! I ran into the kitchen as fast as I could, but because i did not move quickly to the command of the Lord, the pressure cooker had exploded and black beans dripped from the ceiling and ran down the walls. There were black beans everywhere!

The Lord tried to warn me, but I became distracted with other things and missed out on His timing of the immediate response. But even in this mess that I had created for myself I can assure you that God gave me another opportunity and I cooked another pot of black beans for Him.

Dear Lord,

Forgive me for the times that I do not heed Your voice immediately because I become distracted with the things of this world. Help me to set aside these distractions and respond quickly to Your commands.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Step Forward Into the Supernatural

A clear understanding of the supernatural is necessary. For too long Christians of the Western world have denied its existence while the Eastern world has readily walked in the supernatural, but denied God. Why did the Christians of the Western world deny the supernatural? Why did the Eastern world deny God but accept the supernatural? Where is the truth in all this denial? A failure to understand the true power of the supernatural results in confusion and corruption of the truth. It is this confusion and corruption that mystifies the supernatural and leads many to stray from God and into occult practices. And this same mystification of the supernatural causes some Christians to become wary and fearful and step back and turn away from it. But is this fear the correct response from Christians? People fear what they do not understand. This fear stems from a lack of knowledge. A deficiency of knowledge, especially in God’s Word, is destructive. God says through His prophet in Hosea 4:6a, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” He goes on to say that His people even reject it. They are unaware that everything that manifests in the physical world is an irrefutable result of spiritual occurrences around them. When it comes to partaking of the Word of God, many are malnourished. They do not have the substance to live victoriously. This insufficiency of the supernatural power of God causes great damage to the Body of Christ. It hinders God’s miraculous intervention to reach His people. God wants us to understand His supernatural ways. And according to John 16:13 in the Amplified Version of the Bible, He sends His Truth-giving Spirit to guide us into all truth, including the revelation knowledge of the supernatural. Jesus shares the power source of this truth in John 8:31-32. He says, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

I met a beautiful Christian woman at a private meeting in Chicago, Illinois, who suffered needlessly for 25 years of unbearable pain from a tethered spine because she was not taught the truth about supernatural healing. But her healing almost didn’t happen because she was afraid that perhaps God would not heal her. After she heard the truth from God’s Word concerning the Lord’s will to heal, she was released from fear. Healing hands were laid upon her and she was instantly healed and delivered from all pain and suffering. When we walk in the revelation of the Word, the presence of the Spirit of Truth manifests with signs and wonders through us and draws the hurting to Himself. As we allow the reality of Christ to shine through us, their spiritual eyes see beyond the deadness of religion that quenches the power of the Spirit. And as His active supernatural power works through us, it shatters the spiritual darkness that holds them in bondage and escorts them into a living relationship with the one true God. By the supernatural ability of faith a man was saved just in the nick of time. I met this Guatemalan man for the first time while he was in a coma breathing his last breaths. He was quickly slipping away from this earth. Now, religion would read him his last rites and hope he makes it into the sweet by-and-by, but there is no need to guess when the supernatural ability of faith is in operation and the Gifts of the Spirit are activated. As I walked up to his hospital bed, I could see a spiritual cloud of darkness all around him. I knew by the discerning of spirits found in 1 Corinthians 12 that he was not saved. I reached out and touched him and told him to wake up. He did, and he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. What would have happened to this man had I not known how to operate in the supernatural power of faith? What if I had been intimidated by the situation and walked away? He would have died and been lost for an eternity in hell. I thanked God I arrived just in time and that I had the courage to believe what the Bible said about the supernatural ability of faith. But how many people entered into their eternal destination without Jesus Christ because the brethren were either intimidated by the situation or did not know how to operate in the supernatural power of faith?

Dear Jesus, As Your spiritual body, we repent for our part in the denial and rejection of the supernatural, for our lack of knowledge and for the unnecessary destruction that it causes in the lives of so many of Your people. Forgive us, for we do not realize the consequences that others suffer when we allow fear and ignorance to paralyze and override the supernatural ability of our faith. Holy Spirit, we need Your gift of discernment in these last days. Lead us and guide us into all truth that we may walk freely in the power of Your might. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

A Heart of Faith

A vibrant relationship with the Spirit of God ignites the heart with faith, erases the concept of impossible and releases the possible into every situation. This is why it is most important to closely monitor the spiritual condition of the heart. The spiritual heart is a vital organ; the strength of its intentions controls our every thought and action. A spiritual heart becomes strong by dying to the desires of the flesh and self-centeredness. It takes on the attitude, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). It also accepts the way of Christ; “Not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42b). The Spirit of God closely examines the heart to see if it truly belongs to Him. He tests it (see Ps. 7:9). In 1 Samuel 16:7b we see the importance that God places on the condition of the heart:”For the Lord does not see as man sees;  for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” It either compels or repels Him. Also, a heart of faith is what keeps the rest of the spiritual body alive and active for His glory.

A heart that compels the Spirit is one that has been broken by Him. Just as when a horse is broken in by its master, the wild will is broken into submission. Submission goes beyond mere obedience; it deals with our willingness to surrender to His will. Being broken by God is a matter of the heart. It’s a painful and yet very freeing process. I asked God to break me and refashion me. I took a clay pot into prayer once. I dropped it on the floor and it broke into pieces, then I asked Him to do that with me. Why? I had been a Christian for many years and was even a missionary. I had a good relationship with the Lord, but I was hungry for Him. I said in my heart, “Lord, I desire to have a deeper relationship with You.” He granted me my request. He broke me. But He did not leave me in pieces on the floor. In time, He picked up the pieces one by one and refashioned me so that I could be used by Him more effectively.

This heart of faith desires to be at the feet of Jesus. It longs to be in His presence and to minister to Him. As a little girl I learned how to sit at the feet of the Lord by my earthly father. I looked forward to the late afternoon when my dad would come home from a long day of work. He would sit down at the kitchen table and I would kneel at his feet and remove his boots. It was one of those moments that I looked forward to every day with great anticipation, and he knew it.

I looked up to my dad with respect. I trusted him to honor his word. I listened to him and I obeyed him. I would start at my father’s feet ministering to him, but  I would end up in my daddy’s lap with him ministering to me. This daily time spent with my earthly father prepared me to spend time with my heavenly Father.

I start with worship at the feet of my Lord, then end up in His lap while we fellowship with one another. I talk less and listen more to His loving words of encouragement and wisdom.

I encourage you to spend time alone with your heavenly Father every day.

Blessings Are Conditional

As we read and study God’s word we can see that God’s blessings are conditional. What are the conditions to receive the blessings of God?

But first, let’s come into agreement with what a blessing is. The definition of blessings is “something promoting or contributing to happiness, well-being, or prosperity.” God desires that we walk in His blessings, but the decision is ours. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 2).

According to Deuteronomy 28:1-2 blessings are conditional. It says, Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.  And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:”

Notice that it says, “…If you diligently obey; this promise of amazing blessing is purely conditional. The Israelites had a choice to make. If they chose to obey, not just obey, but diligently obey–the voice of the Lord their God, then all the blessings listed in verses 1-14 would come upon them. Not only would they come upon them, but the Bible says the blessings would overtake them. This promise of blessing was for the nation as a whole and for the individuals also. God gave them the key to living the blessed life.

In the New Testament we find the condition for the blessings of God to manifest, faith to believe without doubt.

  • And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;  they  will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mk. 16:17-18.
  • For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark 11:23.
  • But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:6.
  • Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24.
  • Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road. Mark 10:52.
  • He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38.
  • And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:35.
  •  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.

All the blessings of God promised in the New Testament have the same condition for us to fulfill, that we have the faith to believe without doubt in our hearts.

Prepare Yourselves in the Spirit

A Word of the Lord – August 22, 2016

Out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water.

An abundance of power and grace shall flow from your mouth as you pray in the Spirit.

Mysteries will be revealed, revelation knowledge shall stream forth from your mouth as you surrender your tongue to My Spirit.

You have missed in many areas because you have failed to surrender your voice to My Spirit, but that can all change now.

Humble yourself before Me, bow your knee, and you will begin to see great and mighty wonders take place before you if you will pray in the Spirit.

Starting with the first syllable of the first word in the Spirit, My creative, explosive power is released into the atmosphere and change takes place.

The more you discipline yourself to pray in the Spirit, the more change you will begin to see.

Many of My people have resisted My Spirit in this area. And many have suffered needlessly because they would not align themselves with the power of the Spirit.

But a mighty rushing wind is starting to blow from the 4 corners of the earth, as My intercessors are calling forth a revival of true repentance.

A spiritual storm of unmeasurable proportions gathers in strength, light and darkness clash, good and evil do not mix, but light always invades the darkness.

And darkness you will see, as many will flee from Me, and follow after the lusts of the flesh, and all forms of ungodliness.

But as My people, who are called by My name, humble themselves and pray, seek My face, repent of their wickedness, I hear from Heaven, and I heal their land.

A new heaven and a new earth is being called down, and here there is no darkness, no sorrow, no pain, and no more tears. It is a land without fear, because the enemy is not allowed here.

Prepare yourselves in the Spirit, for My return is drawing ever so near.

What Are Acts of God?

Acts of God, what are they? We are accustomed to hear the local newscaster declare a natural disaster as an act of God. But is it really? Is that an accurate forecast?

When society no longer believes that satan exists or that hell is an actual place, then they would blame the Creator for these destructive events. When they say that there are many roads that lead to salvation then there is confusion about who God is. And therefore, humankind makes their own gods and anyone’s description of the nature and character of their god is confused and accepted as the one, true God.

And sad to say, there are many Christians that do not study the Bible for themselves and do not know who God is or what His acts really are. So, they blame the tragedy in life as God’s will and turn bitter towards Him.

Is God responsible for tragedies? His Word tells us in John 10:10,  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” The thief is satan and he comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy us, and he causes tragedies to destroy us and our loved ones.  I use John 10:10 to judge any situation that is before me. If the circumstance brings any form of destruction then I know satan is responsible. This verse helps to keep life simple, and truth also sets us free, see John 8:32.

Jesus warns us in John 16:33, These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” He is forewarning us that in this fallen world we will pass through difficulties, but to be of good cheer. He’s not making light of the situation, but revealing to us the safe place, in Him we will have peace.

In Luke 5:12-16, we read about a man that was full of a plague called leprosy. This plague was deadly, and incurable. And by the powers of faith, love, and compassion He cleansed the man and made Him whole again.

Today, there are many plagues in this World, especially as we are nearing closer to the return of Jesus. The enemy is fighting against humankind, lurking in every corner to bring destruction, but Jesus on the other hand, wills to make us whole by delivering us from plagues. Plagues are part of the curse, and Jesus delivered us from the effects of all forms of the curse, by transforming into the curse for us. Galatians 3:13,Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”

In Luke 8:43-48, we read about a woman that had a problem that no one knew how to cure. She was bleeding for 12 years and was slowly dying. But with Him all things are possible, including cures for the human body when the medical field does not know what to do.

1 John 3:8 tells us why Jesus came to this earth, “[But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].” By His blood, Jesus dissolved the power of satan and all of his evil ways over us.

In Matthew 8:23-27 recalls the amazing testimony of how Jesus calms the wind and the waves. And He wills to do the same for us, and through us whether the storms are spiritual, emotional, or physical. He gives to us His authority over satan and all of his wicked works in Luke 10:19, Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

A few Acts of God that we can see through these verses are:

  1. He is a life-giver, and wills to give life to us in abundance.
  2. He is a peace-giver even during difficult times.
  3. He provides a safe place, in Him during tribulations.
  4. He wills to cleanse us from modern day plagues.
  5. He is able to cure the incurable.
  6. He dissolves the power of satan over us by the power of His blood.
  7. He shares His authority with us over satan and all of his wicked works.

Though the World and even some of God’s people may falsely accuse God of being responsible for tragedies, sickness, disease, plagues, and deadly weather, and call these tribulations “Acts of God”,  we who choose to seek the truth of God’s Word can see these accusations are false, and that in reality He is the giver of life, and gives life to us in abundance.

2 Hindrances that Block Healing

I asked the following question to my readers, What do you think is more difficult for people to believe concerning healing? Everyone that responded said, “That God is willing to heal them personally.” We are going to take a careful look at this response to expose two main hindrances that are blocking us from receiving His healing power in our personal lives.

In Luke 5:12-13 we read about a leprous man in the Bible who had the same doubt and question. “And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately the leprosy left him.”

This man had a very contagious disease and others were afraid of him. He was not allowed to go near others. If others came near him he would have to pick up a rock and throw it at them and call out that he was unclean. He felt the rejection of those around him and I believe he thought God had rejected him as well.

He asked an honest question. He didn’t know the will of God, and Jesus reached out and touched him and showed him that He was not rejected but accepted by God and answered his honest question. He said, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

I believe the number one hindrance that stops us from believing that God is willing to heal
us stems from an identity crisis. We do not know who we are in Christ. Our true identity is probably the most important truth that satan tries to conceal from us because he knows that once we start to unveil the truth about who we really are in Christ and who Christ is in us, we become lethal to satan and his kingdom of darkness. It says in Psalms 8: 5-6, concerning us, Yet You have made him a little lower than God, and You crown him with glory and majesty! You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet. We have been created a little lower than God. He gave us authority and dominion over all things. Once we start to recognize who we are in Christ, we start to seize our authority over satan, the temptation of sin, and the consequences of living in a fallen world, such as sickness, disease, and every other foul curse that comes our way. In other words, as we start to understand who we are in Christ we start to dominate satan and his evil works, instead of him dominating us.

Another hindrance is that people are struggling with their past and do not really believe that God can forgive and heal them because of their many past sins. In 1 John 1:9 it says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” If we have asked the Lord to forgive us of past sins, then we are forgiven. The enemy can no longer hold our past against us because we are covered with the blood of Jesus. It is now all about our faith in His grace to honor His Word in our lives. And because we choose to believe His Word that He is faithful and just we are not only forgiven of all sin, but we are redeemed from the consequences of those sins, including sickness and disease. Jesus is saying to us today, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

A Sweet Song of Deliverance

Oftentimes when we think of deliverance from demons we have this image of intense warfare. And it often is this way, but not always.

I have witnessed deliverance come in different forms. Many times as people repent of their sins and make a sincere confession of faith for salvation I have seen demons just flee the person. And even more common is the freedom from demons and their wicked impact as an  individual chooses to forgive someone who hurt them deeply.

Once, I witnessed a sweet song of deliverance. A hurting, young boy was delivered as I sung the simple little song, “Jesus Loves Me”.  I personalized the lyrics for him and sang.

“Jesus loves you this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak, but Jesus is strong. Yes, Jesus loves you. Yes, Jesus loves you. Yes, Jesus loves you, the Bible tells me so.”

As I quietly sang this sweet song of deliverance, the little boy rolled over and a spirit of rejection foamed right out of his mouth.  His family says, “He’s a changed boy!”

The Word teaches us in Mark 16:17-18, And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Deliverance is all about knowing who you are in Christ and who He is in you. And when you recognize your identity in Jesus, the enemy will too. That’s what happened in Acts 19:13-16, Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.”

It has very little to do with us, other than we choose to believe our true identity is in Him, and therefore, are able to activate the authority He gave to us. It talks of this authority in Luke 10:19, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

I encourage you to learn who you really are and the authority you have been given over satan and all of his wicked works. And you too can sing a sweet song of deliverance and minister in the true power of faith in Jesus Christ and walk in supernatural  healing, miracles, and deliverance if you will believe.

Ask With Boldness

Do we need to grovel on the floor before God when we have a need? Or should we be bold and confident in His willingness to meet our need?

Let me ask you some more questions. Do circumstances dictate our faith? Should we allow negative medical reports to judge God unfaithful to keep His promises? When we don’t receive our healings instantly do we waver in our beliefs? When we allow circumstances and negative reports to control us then we will not be bold, but full of doubt.

You may think to yourself, “Well that’s easy for you to say because you don’t walk in my shoes.” And you are right to think that, I don’t, but Jesus has. Hebrews 4:15 encourages us with these words,For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Strong’s definition of this word “infirmities” is from the Greek word, asthéneia” from G772; feebleness (of mind or body); by implication, malady; morally, frailty:—disease, infirmity, sickness, weakness.

Jesus walked this earth for 33 years. He understands the frailty of the human body. He can sympathize with us, that’s why verse 16 is so powerful for us when it says,Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.He understands, and He calls us to come boldly, not timidly, not with fear, but with all boldness in His redemptive work to save us from the present situation. And with this bold faith we are to come before His throne of grace.

This word grace is the Greek word, “charis” and it means favor.  Take the time and ponder upon this and the next time you have a need come before His throne of favor with bold faith so that you can obtain His mercy. The Greek word for mercy here is éleos” G1656, and it means active compassion. I have taught you in the past that compassion means love in action. Bold faith activates Christ’s love, and needs are met, and people are delivered, healed, and receive eternal life. You can read throughout the Gospels and see for yourself how bold faith always activated this active compassion and people were healed in spirit, soul, and in physical body.

He does not want us groveling on the floor before Him with fear, that’s not demonstrating bold faith, but doubt. He wills for us to come before him with all confidence and believe that He loves and cares for us and desires and is able to meet our needs. Amen!

The Power of Simplistic Faith

I’ve written before about Childlike Faith, and I continue to be an advocate of it’s supernatural strength. But so often, it is greatly misunderstood for being silly and weak. But in reality it is just the opposite. Let’s look at the power of this simplistic faith.

  • Like Jairus, it’s not proud, but humble  to recognize and and openly acknowledge that it’s source of healing is Jesus Christ. See Luke 8:40-56.
  • Like the woman with the issue of blood, when simplistic faith hears of the healer, she makes her way through the crowd and reaches out and touches the healer and receives. See Luke 8:40-56.
  • Like the leprous man, he doesn’t allow his question concerning Jesus’ will to heal to stop Him from cleansing him and making him whole. He just asks  and then receives. See Luke 5:12-13.

By examining this simplistic, childlike faith we see the following important traits:

  1. It’s not proud, but humble.
  2. It openly acknowledges Jesus as the source of healing.
  3. It willingly works through the obstacles to reach the healer and obtain healing.
  4. If it has an honest question about healing, it asks and believes the response of Jesus’ faith-filled words and receives.

As adults we can learn great lessons about faith by observing how little children receive healing. At a recent 8 day healing crusade I observed the openness of all the children present to believe and receive their healings instantly.

The children were uncomplicated, simplistic in their faith. When I called them forward , they were not prideful or embarrassed to acknowledge that they had a need, but readily came. They didn’t question if God was willing or able to heal them. They just believed and received their many healings instantly.

Now, in light of this testimony let me ask you, “Do you still look at the faith of a child as being silly and weak? Or do you see what I see? Simplistic, childlike faith is full of power, and activates full manifestations of miracles instantly.
