Seeing the Doctor

Judy asks; “Becky, when does one check things out with a doctor?”

Judy this is one of those questions that I am asked often, and for good reason, there is so much confusion concerning faith and divine healing. I hope to be able to bring a little clarification to the matter.

God is not against doctors. God gave them the knowledge and ability to help the human body. But even with all of their knowledge and ability, they fall short of being able to help all. A wise doctor will recognize that there is a “Great Physician”, who created the human body and is able to heal it as well.

I have one whole chapter in my book; “Dare to Believe”, based on the book of Luke. Luke gives us an amazing account of the life of Jesus, as the Healer. Interestingly enough, Luke who was chosen by God to write this book in the New Testament was a physician himself. (Colossians 4:14)

Judy, whenever you feel the need to go to see a doctor; “Go”. God wants you to prosper in spirit, soul, and body. He wants you well. He will meet your faith wherever you are at. Be free, and don’t be bogged down by guilt and condemnation. He truly wants you well.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

But remember, God’s best is always divine healing. He’s the creator of the human body. He’s the Great Physician, with Him there is never a hopeless situation. His diagnosis is always correct. Instead of repairing or replacing with artificial parts, He recreates a new part for you. There’s no risk of infection, or rejecting new body parts. His work is perfect. There’s no haggling with insurance companies, because it has all been covered by His Blood, and for you the price is just right, it’s free.

Standing in Faith

Amy, I think many people share your same question. “How do you encourage someone’s faith that has been standing in faith for a long time for healing?” I’m not sure how well you know this person, but this is what I would do. I would spend time with this person and listen carefully to what they are actually saying concerning healing. Let them talk from the depth of their heart about life and healing, by listening carefully, you will be able to tell what is blocking their healing from manifesting. Usually, if a long period of time has passed, they are discouraged and somewhere along the line they have entered into the realm of doubt and they need teaching that God is able and WILLING to heal them. (Most of the time we are not even aware of doubt. In my book; “Dare to Believe” I address the issue of hidden doubts.) Or it may be a pain issue, where the person needs to be encouraged and taught biblically how to overcome the realm of the 5 senses. It could be that this person has had a very difficult life and there are roots of bitterness, depression, feeling unloved and unworthy of receiving God’s goodness towards them. They need to forgive and their minds transformed by the Word. These are just a few examples. What you need to do is listen for the root of the problem and minister to them along these lines. They may need to start all over and be trained in the Word concerning healing.

Whose Faith Heals?

Question: “On the people you’ve prayed for, was it that they had heard the truth and the truth set them free? Was it their faith, or your faith praying for them?”

Amy, this is a great question! And it has a 3 part answer.

#1- When people hear the truth, the truth sets them free. I remember teaching / ministering healing in a church and a man with a withered hand (that I did not even know was there) heard me teaching on the man with the withered hand (from Luke 6:6-11) and as he heard the Word concerning faith in action, his own faith was encouraged and his withered hand was made whole just by hearing the message of faith.

#2 – Oftentimes people are healed because of the faith of the one ministering over them. I see this as I am ministering to those that do not know the Lord. I have lead many non-Christians to the Lord, by ministering healing to their physical bodies first. The physical healing is used as a witness of the true power of Jesus Christ that they cannot deny. In Luke 4:40-41, we read how Jesus healed ALL that were brought to Him. It doesn’t say that ALL these people were believers or that they were full of faith. It was Jesus’ faith put into action that healed the sick.

‎#3 – Amy, at some point in time a person receives the full revelation that God’s healing power is for them. It may happen during a healing service, where the healing word is being taught, in may take years for some to get to this point, but never-the-less, they arrive to this point of revelation. When this healing revelation within them peaks they can receive by their own faith. Read Luke 8:43-48, the story of the woman with the issue of blood. This was a very sick woman, and she spent all she had to be made well, and she was still very ill. Somehow, somewhere, she “heard” of the man that could heal, “Jesus” and she fought the crowd to get to Him. And as she touched the hem of His garment, she was healed. What you need to understand in this account is that MANY were touching Jesus at the same time, but the way in which this woman touched Jesus literally drew the healing power out of Him. She didn’t just touch the physical hem of His garment, she touched the very core of His being with the power of her faith, and He stopped in the midst of the large crowd and said; “Who touched Me?” … “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” It was the power of her faith that touched Him. Jesus said to her; “Daughter, be of good cheer, YOUR FAITH has made you well. Go in peace.”
