4 Steps to Find Your Source of Encouragement

You may be struggling with discouragement today, and if this is you I want to share 4 steps to find your source of encouragement, so that you can overcome discouragement and enter into the supernatural realm of God’s encouragement.

A woman wrote me  with the following need for prayer for her miracle. She shared, “My cancer returned after three years and I feel so bad. I am going to undergo radiation and chemo in the next few days. I need prayer. Please, I need help to get new cells and lymph nodes, and complete healing and removal of all cancer cells in my body.”

This lady received a negative medical report, and naturally discouragement follows right behind  the negative words of “cancer returns.” And so too the spirit of fear floods her memories of the pain she experienced years ago with all the radiation and chemo treatments and procedures. Knowing she needs help to overcome this discouragement and the deadly attack against her life, she does the right thing and reaches out to someone who will encourage her in the faith to stand strong on the promise of God’s Word, “by His stripes she is healed.”

But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, and He has carried our sorrows and pains; yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; the punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, and by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5, AMP.

Perhaps, you are in a similar situation as this woman and need help to get out of the realm of discouragement and find someone who will offer hope to trust God for a miracle. If so, you are not alone; many struggle to find a bit of encouragement these days. Let’s face it, the news is gloomy, social media is filled with hate, and in general, people have become so negative.

So, where do God’s people find a word of hope? Right from the source — God’s Word. And this is where we are going to turn to right now and search the Scriptures to fight off discouragement.

Let’s begin with a prayer directly to the Source of encouragement: “From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 61:2 NIV).

Psalm 27:14 gives us biblical instruction on how to overcome discouragement: “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” We are to wait on the Lord with hope, with expectancy, like a pregnant woman awaits the blessed day for the birth of her child.

Consider the word “wait” in a different manner, not just a s a period of time passing by waiting for something to happen, but to wait to serve the Lord. Look at this well-known verse from Isaiah 40:31 in this way, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

As we serve the Lord with a true heart, our strength is renewed. We are filled with joy; and because joy is a supernatural strength, we become stronger as we serve Him. And to clarify what I mean by serving the Lord, it doesn’t mean to take on another task at your local place of fellowship, but to wait upon Him as follows:

Four Steps to Find Your Source of Encouragement

  1. Believe God. In the Gospel according to John, our beloved Jesus comforts us with His words in John 14:1, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”
  2. Worship Him in spirit and in truth. Jesus tells us in John 4:24, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
  3. Pray in the Spirit and encourage yourself. Apostle Paul instructs us in First Corinthians 14:4 (NIV) how to encourage ourselves. He says, “Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.”
  4. Perfect the love of God in you by His Word. Apostle John writes to us in First John 2:5 (NIV), “But if anyone obeys His word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in Him.”

If you follow these simple steps, you will find your Source of encouragement in Christ and overcome the enemy’s power of discouragement.

Encouragement from God’s Word for Difficult Times

We are all facing troubling times and the challenges in life are increasing not easing up. But even in-the-midst of an out-of-control world we can find encouragement from God’s word for such difficult times.

Jesus warns us that we will all face difficult times on this earth. Not because God designed troubles for us, but because we live in a fallen world. Let us read these words from John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Jesus makes it clear here that in this world we will have challenges to overcome.

Our Lord warns us that we will all pass through difficult situations, but according to Philippians 4:13 this is how we can have victory over them. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” By His strength we can do all things.

There are times when we need a reminder that it is not by our human reasoning or physical strength that we overcome these obstacles in life. These are the words of the Lord of Hosts from Zechariah 4:6 about how to do whatever is put before us, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.” We need to learn to tap into the power of Holy Spirit as this is the only way that we will be able to overcome what is rising against us.

Romans 8:37 also encourages us to know that God creates us to overcome, to win in every situation. The Word says, Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” And this conquering spirit is given to us because He loves us and wants us to overcome the wiles of the enemy.

And Jesus empowers us with His authority, not just some of His authority but all of His authority. Let’s read about this in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” And let’s make it perfectly clear that the reference to serpents and scorpions is referring to demon spirits that attack us with deadly things that can cause a great sting throughout our life.

He also equips us with other spiritual weapons of warfare to overcome the constant attacks of the enemy such as the Blood of Jesus and the power of the spoken word. Revelation 12:11 clearly states that, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

We all may be facing troubling times, but we do not need to be bound by fear. Second Timothy 1:7 tells us what God has and has not given to us, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

During these troubling times let us turn to the promises of God, read and study them, ponder upon them and apply their wisdom to our lives.

Use the Power of Encouragement to Help Combat this Coronavirus

There is great power in a word of encouragement. And this is why the enemy fights so hard to try and discredit an encouraging statement of faith. He is aware that we have been created in the mirror image of God, and have been given by God the power to create and destroy with our words. Proverbs 18:21 states it like this, Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.” AMP. With the power of encouragement we can chase a spirit of fear or a spirit of death away from us.

And why is it so important that we release encouragement during this worldwide pandemic right now? The Bible teaches us in Job 3:25, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” First of all, fear is a forerunner to death, and so the more we proclaim fear-filled words the weaker our level of faith becomes and when we lay down our shield of faith we lose our protection and death enters in. So more than ever before we must proclaim words of faith over ourselves and loved ones and to people all around us.

I was in the grocery store the other day, and the elderly woman in front of me started to share with me how afraid she is. I interjected words of encouragement to her, and shared that I am a Christian, and also a healing evangelist… and I could see as I shared a simple word of encouragement with her that her countenance changed and she thanked me for sharing. And the other people including the cashier started to interject encouraging thoughts to one another. The old adage that a word of encouragement goes a long way. It really does make a difference. With a word of encouragement someone that is in a life and death battle will continue to fight the good fight of faith. A young lady contemplating an abortion will give birth to that child. A man desiring to walk a way from his marriage will repent and fight for it with the right word of encouragement. And during this Coronavirus pandemic your words of encouragement will make a huge difference in the lives around you too.

In closing I want to share this word of encouragement from the Lord for you.

The Spirit of the Lord would say to you this day, “In this world you will have tribulation, you will pass rough difficult times, but I say to you, ‘I created you to win, to be victorious in every situation. I have equipped you with resurrection power, and that same Spirit that raised Me from the dead lives and resides within your very being. And I gave to you this same Spirit so that you could overcome the wiles of the enemy, that serpent of old. You be bold in who I created you to be–a conqueror, an overcomer, and victorious.” *This word of the Lord is taken from my latest book “Conquering the Spirit of Death”, Chapter 1, Page 5.

Encouragement for the Persecuted Church

The Persecuted Church, we read the biblical accounts of the saints long gone, and we hear the horrifying news about our Christian brethren being tortured today. But do we truly understand what it means to be a member of the Persecuted Church? Jesus does. He can identify with the fear of being tortured for His faith, and knows what it takes to be faithful until the end. He holds His persecuted bride in high esteem; He loves her and has a message of encouragement for her.

In Revelation 2: 8-11 we read the following message, ““And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, ‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life:“I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”’”

He also says in Matthew 5:10-12 “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ″Blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of Me. ″Rejoice, and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

The ability to remain faithful in the face of persecution starts with a pure heart, one that is sold out for Jesus, and makes the decision that no-matter-what I will not recant my faith. A believer with such deep devotion to Christ does not intermingle with the backslidden, worldly, unrepentant, spiritually dead or lukewarm Church of today. But gives high honor to the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ, and surrenders his or her will to the Father’s will.

And through their deep devotion to God they can say, We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.” ( See 2 Corinthians 4: 8-11.)

And “For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (See 2 Corinthians 12:10.)

And in the end The Shepherd remains faithful to them as they pass through the revelation of Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Dear Persecuted Church,

What an honor it is to intercede for you. I pray that you will find the spiritual strength to remain faithful ’til the end. And I hope that the effects of my prayers will find their way to you, and that you would be encouraged while under extreme circumstances to fight the good fight of faith, to finish your race, to keep your faith, and to forgive those who persecute you.

Love in Jesus,

A Fellow Believer

Plunge into the Deep Tsunami Waves with the Spirit

I don’t know about you, but my spiritual senses are on high alert right now. My spirit is telling me to get ready, be prepared as this supernatural battle between good and evil is about to heat up to a level we have not witnessed before.

Times are changing rapidly, and it can be challenging to keep up to all that is transforming around us. Many are hoping for the Lord’s speedy return, but according to what I read in the Word it says that Jesus is coming back for a Church without spot or wrinkle. Those that have been following my teachings over the years, know that I believe the spot is the sin, and the wrinkle is the old man, the old sinful ways. And we need to take a spiritual bath and prepare for the largest revival we have ever seen. I invite you to plunge into the deep spiritual tsunami waves with the Spirit.

Tsunami Wave of Healing Glory

Along with reading His will and desire for our health and well-being in the Scriptures, the Lord continues to give me dreams and visions and prophetic utterances about waves being released onto this earth. These prophetic sightings started with the following vision I call, “A Tsunami Wave of Healing Glory.”

In a vision the Lord showed me on January 7, 2012, a tsunami wave of supernatural healing hitting the Wester world, and He said to me, “No longer will people say, ‘Why doesn’t divine healing manifest here?”

A wave of divine healing is overtaking the West, expect to get wet! But along with this wave will be a strong undertow of unbelief that will try to pull you away. Don’t allow satan the liberty to pull you under. Rise to the top and believe.

This wave is different from before. It won’t be in isolated locations with pockets of people receiving. This wave will manifest in all places to all people.

Ministers of healing are rising to the top of this wave. Not only will we minister healing, but we also will equip others to ride the wave.

The blind see, the deaf hear, the mute speak, the paralytics walk, incurable diseases are healed, and the dead rise. Unusual types of miracles are also in this wave—and it has arrived at the Western shores.

Don’t be afraid of this Living Water. It’s what you have been waiting for. This powerful tsunami wave overtakes and heals all who are willing to step in and get wet.

Many are of the mindset that God only heals those who ae in poverty-stricken nations. Or unfortunate ones who don’t have access to good medical care. But I ask you, “Is this truth or just hearsay?” It is the latter. We in the Western world have seen how suddenly the richest nations can fall into calamity and financial hardships and share in the same tribulations with the developing nations.

Times are changing, and so too is the earth and its inhabitants. Truly, I say to you that God is not geographical. He goes wherever there is a believing heart, and believing hearts can be found anywhere in the world—in every hemisphere. And the one believing can call out to Him at any given time—morning, noon, or night—and the Lord Himself promises to hear us when we call to Him.

I am taking this excerpt taken from chapter 1, “Tsunami Wave of Healing Glory, pages 3-4, from my book “Waves of Healing Glory.” And I am adding additional information to this message for today. Why? Because for those that have read this book, you know that I talk about numerous waves that are sweeping across our land, and one very important wave, specifically a tsunami wave is “Repentance.”

This nation must repent, but God always begins with His own household first, the Church. And when God’s people are truly humbled, all sin and pride broken off, then the Spirit of the Living God can freely move in and through His people—you.

I normally, take people on a time of fasting and praying, using this book, “Waves of Healing Glory” during the month of January to help you to start the new year afresh. But Holy Spirit is prompting me to take this time now through the elections and get people ready for the chaos that is about to break loose. The body of Christ needs a reset, and she needs to examine her heart and get things in spiritual order now. God needs us to be ready to activate our faith now, not just for ourselves, but for those in our arena of influence. I sense a strong urgency in my spirit that we must prepare ourselves for all that is about to take place and do so quickly.

I invite you to join me during these next couple of months to get ready spiritually for what is about to take place. I ask you to make a conscious effort to press into the Lord Jesus Christ right now, spend more time in the Word with me, go through the teachings in this book, “The Waves of Healing Glory”, and other teachings and assignments as the Lord leads. I will be sharing on FB Live words of encouragement, prophetic words as Holy Spirit leads. All I know right now, is that God’s Spirit is impressing upon me to prepare the people for what is coming.

Identify Where You Are Spiritually

A major step in preparing yourself in these latter days is to identify where you are spiritually. Read through this message and carefully examine your heart and locate where you are spiritually.

In Genesis 3 Adam and Eve sin against God and run and hide behind the bush. The Lord comes down to the garden to fellowship with them, but they are not where they should be. God asks Adam a very important question. He calls out, “Adam, where are you?”

The Lord knows all things. He is not asking Adam for his physical location, but for him to identify where he is spiritually. As the time of Christ’s return draws near, the Spirit of God is asking the same question, “Where are you spiritually?”

It’s time to look to His Word and take spiritual inventory.  This self-examination can be found in Revelation 2-4, in the letters to the 7 churches.

1. The first question addresses the church in Ephesus and the condition of their spiritual hearts. God recognizes their deeds, their labor, their perseverance, their intolerance for evil people, and their discernment to judge false apostles.

It appears with these qualities they will pass, but they don’t. In fact, they fail and receive a warning to repent, or they will lose their position to shine their light. Why do they fail? Because they lose their love for Christ.

Ask yourself, “Do I still love Jesus like I once did before?

2. The second part of this examination applies to the church in Smyrna. They do not hear a rebuke but only words of encouragement. Who are they? They are the persecuted Church. He encourages them to not fear their imminent sufferings, but to be faithful to the end.

Therefore, the question to ask is, “Do I have the level of faithfulness it takes to endure persecution?”

3. The third part of this self-examination exposes twice in Revelation 2:13 the spiritual location of the church in Pergamum. Their dwelling is with satan. They are a cult. Their sins are idol worship, false gods, false teachings and acts of immorality. They are spiritually lost and receive the warning to repent, or He will make war against them.

Ask yourself, “Does my place of worship lift up Jesus as the one true God?”

4. The fourth section of this spiritual test is written to the church in Thyatira. She is the portion of God’s people who refuse to repent of their worldly ways. And they are so deceived that they even allow a spirit of Jezebel to lead them. And because they tolerate Jezebel they suffer with sickness, great tribulations (difficulties), and even their children are affected with pestilence.

As a healing minister, I have never seen God’s people as sick as I do now. I believe this is a direct consequence of allowing the evils of Jezebel to reign within the body of Christ.

Ask yourself, “Am I struggling to repent from ungodliness?”

5. The fifth part of this all-important test is written to the church in Sardis. She is religious, but spiritually dead. She receives the warning to wake up, repent, and get right with God. If she does not, He will come to her like a thief in the night.

Ask yourself, “Have I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins and to be my Savior and Lord, or am I just going through the religious motions?

6. The sixth part of this examination addresses the church in Philadelphia. She is the second of the 7 churches that does not receive a rebuke, only an admonishment with a promise. Because of her faithfulness to God and His Word she will be kept from the hour of testing that will come upon the whole world.

Ask yourself, “Am I faithful to God and His Word?”

7. The seventh and final part of this exam is written to the church in Laodicea. She is the lukewarm church. She has no passion for the things of God. She has succumbed to the riches of this world and does not see how poor and wretched she really is. God sends His message to be zealous and repent, and to obtain the true riches that money cannot buy, redemption in Jesus Christ.

Ask yourself, “Am I passionate or passive for Jesus?”

Are you able to identify where you are spiritually? If you don’t like your spiritual location, then ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to make the necessary changes to move forward.

Are You Fighting Discouragement?

Start with a prayer to the source of encouragement. “From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalms 61:2.

Biblical instructions on how to overcome discouragement. Wait on the LordBe of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Psalm 27:14. We are to wait with hope, with expectancy, like a pregnant woman awaits the blessed day for the birth of her child.

Consider the word wait in a different manner, not just as a period of time waiting for something to happen, but to serve the Lord. Look at this famous verse from Isaiah 40:31 in this way, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”  I know that I have found when I serve the Lord, my strength is renewed. I am filled with joy, and because joy is a supernatural strength we do become stronger as we serve Him. And to clarify what I mean by serving the Lord, it doesn’t mean to take on another task at your local place of fellowship, but to wait upon Him as follows:

  1. Still your heart before Him.
  2. Worship Him in spirit and in truth.
  3. Pray in the Spirit.
  4. Fellowship with Him in His Word.
  5. Stop doing all the talking, be quiet and let Him speak to you.

If, you will follow these simple steps you will find your source of encouragement in Christ and overcome the enemy’s power of discouragement.

The Power of Pleasant Words

Proverbs 16:24 shares insight to the power of positive words and the physical effects that have upon our minds, emotions and bodies when spoken. It says, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24 NIV). This word “healing” in Hebrew is marpe and it means health, remedy, cure, sound, wholesome, curative, medicine, a cure, and deliverance (Strong’s H4832). Gracious or pleasant words possess healing properties, and we should lavish one another with them.

Words that edify impart grace to the hearers. Read Ephesians 4:29 in its entirety, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” Oikodomé is the Greek word for “edification” (Strong’s G3619), and it simply means to build up. Do our words build one another up? When they do, we impart grace, God’s favor, charis (Strong’s G5485), “upon each other.”

According to these two verses, grace or pleasant words have the power to heal the soul, the mind, and the emotions, which aligns with the Living Word, Yeshua’s power in Isaiah 53:4-5 where it says that “He carried our sorrows.” Meaning He bears both physical and mental pain. And because of the atonement, our spoken words of faith also carry this same healing property. So, harness the power of pleasant words so you and others can heal.

If your friend receives a negative report that he or she will never survive this medical situation, be the bearer of encouragement and share God’s healing report with them. Reassure them that the medical field does not have the last word in the situation—Jesus has he last word when He cries out on the cross, “It is finished!” His plan of redemption is complete, nothing is left undone, and healing has been bought and paid for by His blood. Prophesy words of healing into your friend’s physical body.
