Bold Faith

Bold faith–what is it? Where does it come from? And how did you get it? These are very good questions that I am asked of often. And just last night, as I lay in my bed I started to dream. In this dream I was being interviewed and these are the very questions I heard the host ask me. With my response I started to laugh, “Oh, that’s easy.” He looked at me with a puzzled look. I responded, “It’s because I love God. I know Him, and I trust Him.” With that response that interview could have been over right then and there, but it wasn’t. He wanted to know more.

I am often cited as a person of bold faith, even though I think of myself as a normal everyday person. And maybe that’s a clue to develop a faith that is bold–not to think of yourself to highly, but to research the Scriptures until you discover who you really are in Christ. Allow me to briefly teach you just who you are in Christ.

According to Genesis 1:26-28, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” This portion of Scriptures teaches us that we have been created in the image of Elohim (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). And this isn’t just any image, but with a little research it means a mirror image. When you look in a mirror what do you see? You see yourself, your image, just as you are. And He chose to give us dominion over every living creature. And he also gave us the command to be fruitful and to multiply, and this means more than having babies, but to produce supernatural fruit by a supernatural means–spiritual multiplication. And as we read in Luke 10:19, Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” In other words, He has given you all His authority over satan and all of his wicked works.

The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:17 that as Jesus is so are we in this world. Jesus is a supernatural being and He operates by the same supernatural power that He expects us to operate with–by faith. And when He walked on this earth, He left His God powers in Heaven and lived like we live–as humans. But one of the life assignments while on this earth was to show us how to live by faith. And I think we can all agree the type of faith He demonstrated for us was bold faith. And as His ambassadors we too are to walk like He walked–with bold faith.

So bold faith comes from knowing and trusting God. And this happens when you press deep into personal relationship with Jesus. And in order to go deep into relationship with our Lord you have to spend personal time with Him, not just a little bit of time, but a lot of time, most of your time with Him. No matter your circumstances you can do this. It is a matter of personal choices and prioritizing your life.

In the early days of starting a children’s home in Guatemala people would ask me how I could spend so much time with Jesus and in His Word. My response was always the same, “I can’t afford not to spend my time with Him.” My first assignment back then was to tend to 17 children (12 adolescent boys off the streets [who were filled with demons] and 5 babies), the next assignment was 14 little ones (and many of them were very sick and fighting death in the beginning). I would sit down on the floor with them playing all around me and I would read to them from the Bible. Whatever I was studying from the Word became the theme of that day. And I worshiped the Lord in front of them and with them. We sang, we danced, and we prayed for whatever the need we were facing was. We did it together. And God used the lives of these children to teach me about the boldest faith there is–childlike faith. I didn’t say childish or immature faith, but childlike. Where you believe without questioning and doubting yourself out of a miracle. And this is how my faith became simple and uncomplicated–childlike.

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven, Matthew 18:3.

And then came the other aspect of developing bold faith, by learning to be dependent upon God. I had to learn how to activate who I was in Him by depending upon Him for my daily strength. I knew full well that I could not do this on my own. In order to be victorious, I had to gather my strength from Him. When we depend upon our own strength, our own ideas, our own ways–we fail. But when we are dependent upon Him–we win.

Bless People this Christmas

Since our words are filled with power I believe they are a free gift that we can bless others with every day, especially during this Christmas season. Why not start your morning with the following confession of faith to Jesus before rising out of bed, “This is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it,” Psalm 118:24. If you see that your spouse is struggling to get out of bed due to physical pain or illness use the power of your words and bless them with the prayer of faith, “In Jesus’ name I renounce this pain and sickness and I release the healing power of Holy Spirit to flow in and throughout your entire being, be healed in His mighty name, amen.”

When you walk into the kitchen and find that your teenagers are arguing with one another or your teen is speaking rudely with you, instead of joining in the fight and making matters worse, use the power of your words wisely and break the power of rebellion with a kind and sincere word. For example, “Kids, I know that you are at odds with one another, but we are family, let’s sit down and calmly talk the situation out.” Or if their words are blatant rebellion against you start saying the words that they really desire to hear from you, “I know we don’t agree, but I want you to know I love you.” If they respond back with stinging words such as, “I hate you!” Hold your tongue and say, “I know, but I love you.” And keep on daily with words of love, concern and understanding, eventually you will break that spirit of rebellion.

Whatever the source of confusion–declare words of faith according to God’s promises, and eventually the power of your words will win. The Bible is very clear concerning the power of our words, here are three verses to take to heart. “Your own soul is nourished when you are kind, but you destroy yourself when you are cruel,” Proverbs 11:17.  Proverbs 15: 1 counsels us, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but hard words stir up anger.” And Proverbs 15:4 says that “Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”

When out in public start the habit of greeting people again with a warm “Hello” and a smile on your face. Many people live in such an environment of contention that your kind words, as simple as they may be will be what God uses to bless people with and start to soften their hard hearts. Remember, you don’t always know how someone else hurt this person with their evil use of words. Maybe their spouse insults them on a consistent basis, or their kids are sassing off to them, or their boss just yelled at them for making a mistake, or their coworkers are so dysfunctional that all they hear are derogatory comments all day.

My challenge to all of us this Christmas is to gift people with the blessing of our words this season. Its not as difficult as we may think, and words really do create or destroy people, let’s use them this season to glorify God and bless His people with.

Should Christians Sage Their Homes?

Is it okay for Christians to sage their homes? No, it’s not okay, let’s find out why. First of all, what is saging or smudging? And where does it originate from? Burning sage is a ritualistic practice originally used by Native American shamans to spiritually cleanse the atmosphere of an area, such as a home or a person from evil spirits, negative energy, or to release healing.

What is a shaman? A quick search on Google defines a shaman as a  person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, especially among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practice divination and healing. Other names for a shaman would be, medicine man/woman, sorcerer, or a witch doctor.

This practice of saging a house is common among followers of New Age and Shamanistic beliefs, and sadly is becoming increasingly popular in Christian homes. Why would this practice go against Christian beliefs? Because the center of Christianity is Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, our Savior, our Deliverer, our Healer. Acts 4:12 tells us, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Who should we trust to save us from evil?

I wait patiently for God to save me; I depend on him alone, Psalm 62:1.

Acts 4:12 has this to say concerning Jesus as our Savior,  “Salvation is to be found through him alone; in all the world there is no one else whom God has given who can save us.”

Salvation is to be found through him alone; in all the world there is no one else whom God has given who can save us, 2 Thessalonians 3:3.

The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; Psalm 121:7.

What does the Bible have to say about those who practice witchcraft?

Revelation 18:23 says concerning the practice of witchcraft, The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again. Your merchants were the world’s important people. By your magic spell all the nations were led astray.”

What does Revelation 21:8 have to say about this? “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Galatians 5:19-21, The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;  idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions,  and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Let’s take a moment to pray a simple, but heartfelt prayer of repentance from this evil practice in the name of Jesus.

Father God,

Forgive us for not understanding that burning sage to protect us and cleanse us from evil spirits is a sin. And that such sinful practices testify that we do not believe in the power of the redemptive blood of Jesus to deliver and protect us from evil. Jesus forgive us for not valuing Your blood. Cleanse us and our homes from any and all lingering spiritual effects of this demonic activity. From this moment forward we renounce the ties to this occult practice. Help us Holy Spirit in these last days to use godly wisdom found in Your Word for us this day.

In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.

Be Ready for My Coming Is at Hand

The Spirit of the Lord would say to you in this hour;

“Wake up. It’s not time to sleep or to slumber, for the greatest hour of power is upon you.

Light is crashing into darkness, and the light will not blend with this darkness, but will cause a great separation.

You are either for Me or you are against Me, and the motives of your heart will be clear for all to see.

If you love the ways of this world, the love of My Father is not in you.

You make your decision this day about who you will follow.

My sheep hear My voice, and the voice of another they will not follow.

No longer will I allow you to hide behind titles and positions–your sins will find you out.

Now is the time to get down on your knees and repent of the darkness that you have been harboring within your heart.

Those that repent of their sins are forgiven and set free from them, and those that do not are bound to the chains of their chosen sins.

I am not taking you out of this world, but calling you to let your light so shine within it that they may see your good works and glorify My Father in heaven.

I have been sending you My prophets and yet many of you refuse to head the message upon their tongue.

The time is ever so short and I need my people to prepare for My great coming.

Prepare your hearts for all that is about to take place. Do not allow even a bit of leaven to remain. Release yourself from the sin of unbelief.

I am coming for My bride who is without sport or wrinkle.

Get rid of the leprous spots of sin by the power of My blood, and iron out all the wrinkles of the old man and his ways.

Be ready in season and out of season to share with others your reason to believe.

Be prepared to demonstrate with the power of Holy Spirit My love for them with signs and wonders that truly make a difference in their lives.

I tell you that all lives matter, young and old and in between, and the color of skin does not matter, for I have created all equally with the same power–My love.

What counts is what’s on the inside. Do you love Me? And if you do, you will feed my sheep and tend to my lambs.

I say to you, “Love Me with all your heart, soul, and might, and fight the good fight of faith, remain faithful to the very end.  And those who will remain faithful to Me to the very end will hear, “Well done, though good and faithful servant.” And to hear the sound of these words will make all things worth it in the very end.

The end of this earth is near, and it is nearer than you think. The hour is upon you.

You will witness great darkness, and this darkness will quickly overtake the earth. But be not dismayed, for even in the midst of great filth, rebellion, and grave sin the light within you will shine even brighter.

Snuff out your light they will try, and they will if you let them. But for those of you that will take a stand for Me, I will uphold with My righteous right hand. And if I am for you, who can stand up against you? You need to ask yourself, “Am I willing to take this stand?” And if so, “How do I strengthen myself now for what is at hand?”

Prepare yourselves in My Word, read it, study it, speak it, and live it. And be ready to share it with your life to all those around you. Take time now and hide away with Me in the presence of My Father. Learn to sit still and listen for that still small voice of the Spirit. And be very aware of a very powerful spirit of deception that has risen from the depths of hell against you. This spirit of deception will come to you as an angel of light, it will be beautiful to behold, and for the unsuspecting it will snuff your light for me out, and you will walk hand in hand with it, but know that you have been foretold of it’s assignment against you–to steal, to kill, and to destroy you.  And for the undiscerning it’s attack will be subtle and seemingly harmless, and for those not in right standing with Me their light will be snuffed out.

You are not a lone ranger in this battle, but you are part of a body–My body, and even though you may be part of a remnant–together you are stronger than ever. It will appear that you are outnumbered, but open up your spiritual eyes in this hour and know that there is a heavenly host around about you, and I am making intercession on your behalf and they obey My command as you release the protection of My righteous right hand with your prayers of faith.

Oh, eye has not seen, and ear has not heard all of what is about to take place. For soon, and very soon, you are about to gaze upon My face. The completion of your spiritual race is about to take place. I say to you–pick up your pace, for soon you will be dressed with a fine white lace, and you will leave this earth without a trace of the wickedness of this place.

For those that have made the right choice, it’s time to lift up your voice and rejoice.

For My coming is at hand, just as it was planned. And for those of you that will take a stand, and your station you faithfully man, you will not be like sinking sand, but I will pluck you from the enemy’s hand, and around My throne you shall surely stand. Again I say, “Be ready, for My coming is at hand.”

Don’t Give Up

Let’s face it, there are times when we all feel like giving up, because sometimes living life gets real tough. But now is not the time to give up. More than ever God needs you to fight the good fight of faith. He needs you to be an overcomer and win this battle not just for yourself, but to be a witness for others. Others that just don’t understand that there is a God in heaven who truly loves and cares for them. And your testimony will win many to Him. So I am telling you–don’t give up.

Your miracle will win more to Jesus than the latest craze being taught from today’s pulpits. Why? Because there is an overload of clever sermons, and not enough genuine messages from God. And many are perishing without hope for something better. And that better within you is Jesus. A real Jesus that loves them and is willing and able to meet any and every need they have. So don’t give up.

God’s word tells us, ‘Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation],’ Isaiah 41:10.  His Word again encourages us in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. “  As we make the decision not to give up, Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in,” Galatians 6:9. and another nugget of encouragement can be found in 2 Chronicles 15:7, But as for you, be strong and do not lose courage, for there is reward for your work.”

We are not to fear, lose courage, or grow weary because He is with us, and He is faithful and true. There are rewards coming our way for not giving up, and fighting the good fight of faith, for doing good in a not-so-good world, and for being a living witness of God’s supernatural power of victory and salvation for all people.

So the next time you are tempted to quit, remind yourself of all the people your life is being a godly witness to and don’t give up.

Overflow with Confidence

I love this prayer prayed by the Apostle Paul on our behalf found in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.” It’s uplifting to know that our Lord Jesus is the God of hope. Hope is the precursor to faith, and we can’t have faith unless we first have hope, and we certainly can’t have real hope without God. And our God of hope fills us with all joy and peace.

Again my heart takes flight as I take the time to meditate upon this thought that He fills us with all joy, in other words He fills us with His supernatural strength. Nehemiah 8:10 tells us not to grieve for the joy of the Lord is our strength. Joy and strength go hand-in-hand, you can’t have one without the other. And He doesn’t want to give us a little bit of joy, but all joy. He wills that we are happy and strong in Him. Now this doesn’t necessarily mean we are laughing all the time, but isn’t it amazing how revitalized we are after a hearty laugh. I deal with the real hurts of people everyday of my life and I love how the Lord makes me laugh. He knows that I have to have a dose of His medicine–laughter every day of my life. See Proverbs 17:22.

And I guess this joy comes from knowing  that whatever difficulties I experience I have the peace of God that truly surpasses all human understanding and human intellect. This peace isn’t based upon feelings and it’s not an emotion, but an intimate place in our relationship with God. The closer you are to Jesus, the stronger this peace is.

This joy and peace are spiritual benefits from believing in the Holy Spirit’s power. For me it is reassuring that God doesn’t expect us to do His work in our own strength, but in His. Zechariah 4:6 reassures us that it is not by our might, nor by our power, but by His Spirit. The power of His Spirit empowers us daily, if we accept His might.

And it is by the power of His Spirit that we will abound in hope. Other ways to say abound with hope would be to be full of hope, overflow with hope, teem with hope, or to be packed with hope. When I allow myself the time to ponder the message of the Word my spiritual understanding deepens. I like the visual of my spirit being teemed with His hope by the power of Holy Spirit.

I can overflow with confidence in His promises to me. This is not about being confident in myself, but being totally confident in Him, and in His faithfulness to keep His promises to me. Therefore, I can do as Hebrews 4:16 encourages to do, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

A Declaration For Protection

Do you feel unsafe? Are you afraid? Have you received a disheartening medical report? God forewarns us that in this word we will have tribulation, meaning difficult times. Then He tells us to rejoice, not because of the difficult situations we are passing through, but that in Him we have the victory. One step to walk in this victory is to declare God’s Word over the situation. Try this, it will help you to strengthen your faith for God’s protection.

According to the Word of the Lord, I declare what I already possess over myself, and my family and friends in the mighty name of Jesus. And so now, I do declare that I dwell in the shelter of the Most High, I rest in the shadow of the Almighty, He is my refuge, my fortress, and my God, and I trust Him, (Psalm 91:1-2). The Lord is faithful, He will strengthen and protect me from the evil one, (2 Thessalonians 3:3). God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble, (Psalm 46:1). He is my hiding place, and will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance, (Psalm 32:7).

I sing to God, I sing in praise of His name, I extol Him who rides on the clouds, I rejoice before Him – His name is the Lord. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling, (Psalm 68:4-5). I cast my cares on the Lord and He sustains me, He will never let the righteous be shaken, (Psalm 55:22). I will lie down in peace and sleep, for He alone makes me dwell in safety, (Psalm 4:8).

The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1). I walk securely, because I walk in integrity, (Proverbs 10:9). I am prudent, I see danger and take refuge, (Proverbs 27:12). He is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for me because I trust in Him, (Nahum 1:7). He keeps me in perfect peace, my mind is steadfast, because I trust in Him, (Isaiah 26:3).

The Lord does not take me out of this world but He protects me from the evil one, (John 17:15). Because I trust in the Lord and do good I can dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture, (Psalm 37:3). The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe, (Proverbs 18:10). He will cover me with His feathers, and under His wings I will find refuge; His faithfulness will be my shield and rampart, (Psalm 91:4).

Victory You Will Not Lack

The Spirit of the Lord would say to you this day,

“Do not worry, do not fret, and certainly do not forget,

My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

I bore your pain and suffering upon My back,

So victory while on this earth you would not lack.

That old devil will try to bind you with his spirit of fear,

But I say, “Trust Me, for I am ever near.”

Do not play the enemy’s game,

His fame is to laden you with guilt and shame.

And his tactics remain the same, and his aim is to lame.

While My aim is to release you from his wicked game of shame and blame.

I shed My blood to set you free,

So you could be all I created you to be–blessed and highly favored.

And in this promise I will not waiver.

So set your sights upon My grace,

And as you gaze upon My face, know that I am with you to complete your race.

Beloved, I love you with a love from up above.

Soon the trumpet will blow,

And it will be quite the show.

My people from all ends of the earth will meet together around the throne.

That throne of grace, my what a mighty place, filled with a heavenly race, engulfed with the presence of the Almighty.

Be dressed and ready, and remain faithful and steady.

But while on this earth, and in eternity to come–victory you will not lack.

I’ve got you covered, I bore it all upon My back.”
