How to Maintain Peace in Our Lives

God tells us in His Word,  If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men,” Romans 12:18. In other words live as peacefully as possible with other people. This can be a challenge,  especially if we have daily contact with very stressful people. Seriously how do we set out to accomplish such a goal? How do we stay at peace when our boss is unrealistic with his or her demands? Or our neighbor is so over-the-top emotionally speaking? Or our spouse or child is sick and suffering? How do we hold our peace when life around us is out of control? Let’s look to the Scriptures for realistic daily steps to put into practice in our everyday lives to maintain our peace.

1. One way to maintain our peace is to guard our hearts and minds. And Philippians 4:6-7 tells us how to guard them. It says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” We guard our hearts and minds by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. While we  remember to pray and supplicate, we often forget to do so with thanksgiving on our tongues. And forgetting to be thankful can lead us into whining and complaining, or even into the realm of fear, a stressful mode. While on the other hand being thankful is a positive attribute and it does add to our level of peace by focusing on the right things. Let’s look to step #2 to find out why it is important to have our hearts and minds filled with positive things.

2. “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things and the God of peace will be with you”, Philippians 4:8. Allowing our minds to wander into ungodly thoughts, and conversations zap our peace. Our souls, minds and emotions get bent-out-of shape. These ungodly thoughts and conversations create an atmosphere that is uninviting for the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, to inhabit. Knowing this we all ought to guard our thoughts and conversations with all sincerity and focus on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. If we will do this the God of peace will be with us.

Peace is important to our everyday lives. And God desires us to have His peace, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically too. And since He provides us with these keys to maintaining our peace, then He obviously holds us responsible to guard our hearts and minds by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving on our minds and tongues. And even tells us what to think about so we can maintain our level of peace.

And let’s end today’s message of peace with these Words of Jesus from John 14:27, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Prepare, the End is Near

The Lord God would say to you this day; “Prepare, for the time is near.

Prepare your hearts, judge your own and make sure it is right with Me.

If you have anything against another forgive them and do what you can to make it right.

Stay close to Me in My Word, and read it, study it, and live it like you believe in Me.

Remain in intimate fellowship with Me. Now is not the time to wander off into the wilderness of the world and its ways. Now is the time to stay in My presence, refresh your weary souls, and dust off the unbelief of those around you.

As you can physically see the spiritual condition of the people is wearing down. Disassociate yourself from those that are false and spiritually dirty. Stay in fellowship with those that do believe.

Be willing to take a stand for Me and My ways in these last days. Be not afraid, for I will be with you until the ends of the earth, and beyond.

Recognize that there are differences that you will not work out while on this earth, but ask yourselves, “Do we believe the basic and most important things pertaining to eternal life, and life in abundance while on this earth?” And focus your efforts on these. You have heard it said, “No man is an island unto himself.” I say, “You need one another.” 

Learn to look out for one another. The Spirit will show you how. Just be a willing vessel for the light of My love to shine through you. And shine through you it will. If you will allow My Spirit to shine through you they will see the light of Me in you.

Be prepared to give an answer for what you believe and why you believe. Many are lost, and are walking day to day without hope. But within you is the Spirit of Hope—Me. Allow your light to shine in such a way that it brings glory to Me and not to yourself. If I be lifted up, I will draw all men onto Myself.

Step out of the entertainment mode and worship Me in spirit and in truth. True worship breaks the yoke of bondage and readies them to receive the Word with life-changing power.

Begin to see yourself as I see you—born-again, born from above, redeemed, forgiven, and loved, Be bold and do not hold back, speak up, tell them the truth, tell them in love right from wrong. Don’t compromise, take a stand for the end is truly at hand.

Prepare yourselves, for the end is near, and I am coming quickly.

Thus saith the Lord your God.

Unforgiveness Equals Bondage

Many people today are held in bondage by their own free will. Willfully they refuse to do what they know is right–forgive. Forgiving another for their wrongdoing towards us is not an easy task. And yet God requires us to forgive one another. Jesus says in Matthew 6:14-15,For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

But He never requires us to do something that He, Himself has not done. God always sets the standard in both word and in action. He tells us in the portion of Scripture above that we have to forgive others. He doesn’t make room for exceptions. He says to forgive, and if we will forgive others, then we will be forgiven of our sins as well.

But let’s face it, there are situations in life that are difficult to forgive, and Jesus understands this. Look back to His life on this earth and all that was done to Him. Even though He was innocent, the people falsely accused Him, they mocked and spit on Him, bruised and broke His body. And yet He chose to do what’s right and what Father God expects from all of us–to forgive. He cried out from the Cross while in great agony, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

We don’t deserve to be forgiven, and yet He wills to forgive us. We see this clearly in Romans 8:6-8, “While we were still helpless [powerless to provide for our salvation], at the right time Christ died [as a substitute] for the ungodly.  Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to willingly give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a good man [one who is noble and selfless and worthy] someone might even dare to die. But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

As the title of this writing states, “Unforgiveness Equals Bondage” , and it surely does. It holds us in bondage spiritually, it prevents our sins from being forgiven. It also affects our mental health. When we are all wracked with anger and unforgiveness we have no peace. Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.Proverbs 17:22 gives us God’s sound wisdom about how our emotional state effects our physical condition, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”

I have witnessed in many healing lines as I lead someone in a prayer of repentance their healing immediately manifests. Set yourself free from the bondage of unforgiveness by forgiving that person today. Let’s pray.

Father God,

I know that I have willfully been hanging on to unforgiveness towards (name). But I am convicted by Your word that tells me I have to forgive them, so that I too can be forgiven for all of my past wrongdoings as well. Holy Spirit help me to move forward in my healing process spiritually, emotionally, and physically too. 

In the name of Jesus’ I forgive (name). And I will not base this decision upon emotions, but by my faith in You and in Your word. I not only forgive (name) I release (name) from my bitterness and from my vengeance. I say to (name) be free in Jesus. And as I release you from my bitterness, I am forgiven and free in Him, amen and amen.

Activate God’s Wisdom with Your Words

We can activate God’s wisdom with our words. When we speak healing words we allow ourselves and others around us to heal, and this is activating the wisdom of God. But this form of communication is not always practiced daily by Christians as it should be. And this is the gateway to many sins and the consequences of them, sickness and disease, and other forms of the curse.

Proverbs 10:19 tells us, In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.” Have you noticed that with excessive talkers they seem to always be in trouble with someone? This is because they have not learned the practice of controlling their words. And they blurt whatever comes to their minds, and offend many people. But people are not the only thing they cause harm to, they also cause harm to their physical bodies as well.

Words are powerful, and when used as they should be release healing power into all areas of life. Proverbs 12:18 tells us,There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health. Wise words promote healthy relationships, healthy business deals, and healthy bodies too.

Examine your life. What areas of life are weak and sickly? Now do a more thorough exam, and ask yourself how you have been speaking over these areas. If you have been complaining about your spouse, especially if you have been doing this on a consistent basis that relationship will be sickly. If you are griping about work, your business dealings won’t be as strong as they could be. If you are confessing that you are sick and tired of this, that, and the other thing, guess what? Your body will be sick and tired. It will obey your command.

In essence you get to create what your life is going to be like. And if after examining all the areas of your life, and you don’t like what you see, then do as the Word tells us to do and choose your words wisely. It might not be easy to transform your vocabulary to line up with God’s, but like His Word promises us in Matthew 19:26, with Him it is all possible, amen.

Everyday Words Can Harm Us

Did you know our everyday words can harm us? As I talk about in my latest book, The Prophetic and Healing Power of Your Words, before we become successful in the big-ticket items that need serious prophetic healing, we need to focus on the day-to-day, seemingly harmless phrases that we speak over over ourselves that often cause us a lot of trouble. And they may even be the source of a much bigger problem. The Song of Solomon 2:15 advises s to “Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines for our vines have tender grapes.” Foxes are considered to be destructive animals that can destroy valuable vineyards. Spiritually speaking about the prophetic and healing power of our words, the little foxes are our everyday words we use that can cause us harm. And we need to go on a fox hunt and catch them before they destroy us.

Let’s look at some common statements that we say everyday that can cause us harm, and why.

If we say, “One day I will be healed.” we never will be because we are speaking into the future tense, and we can never catch up to tomorrow. This is why God’s Word is so powerful when it declares in Isaiah 53:5, “By His stripes we are healed.” Personalize this verse and declare over yourself, “By His stripes I am healed.”

If we continue to say about ourselves, “I am so sick and tired of …” Eventually our physical bodies will manifest these words and be sick and tired because our words have the power of life and death in them.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit, Proverbs 18:21.

And perhaps there is a healthier way to say what you really mean to say. Instead of saying, “I’m so sick and tired of …” train yourself to say a positive statement such as, “I need to take a break to refresh.”

Listen to what you say, and ask yourself, “Do I really want to say that?” And ask the Holy Spirit to help you change your words to what you really mean to say.

Your Words Have Power

What we say over ourselves or what we say to others is important. The Bible is clear in Proverbs 18:21, The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. This power in our words can hurt or  heal, encourage or discourage, build up or  tear down, and we are the ones that choose what type of power we operate in.

Here are a few verses to consider about the power of your words. Take these Scriptures to heart and pray to the Holy Spirit for help in this area.

  • Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips, Psalm 141:3.
  • Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer, Psalm 19:14.
  • The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing, Proverbs 12:18.

The words you speak will determine what happens in your daily life. So choose them wisely. When you align your words with what the Bible says, you will then begin to see the results you so desire.

  • The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit, Proverbs 15:4.
  • Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends, Proverbs 17:9.
  • What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them,” Matthew 15:11.

I don’t believe that most people set out to hurt others with their words. I think sometimes we just don’t hear the pain our words can carry to others. But we can surely learn to recognize the power behind our words with a simple prayer for help from the Holy Spirit.

Dear Holy Spirit,

Help me to hear the words that I speak. Correct me if they are full of death and pain to myself or to others. I desire that my words are pleasing to you and a blessing to the receiver too.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen and amen.

Embark on a Spiritual Journey this Christmas

We read in Matthew 2:1-2, “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”  The wise men of old embarked on a spiritual journey that led them to the Savior, Jesus Christ. They followed a sign, the star, a bright shining light in the heavens. This supernatural sign guided them to the truth found only in Jesus.

Let’s study these 2 verses a bit more in depth to find an added dimension to our beloved Christmas story. First of all, the wise men according to the Blue Letter Bible are defined as the oriental wise men (astrologers) who, having discovered by the rising of a remarkable star that the Messiah had just been born, came to Jerusalem to worship him. I find it interesting that Holy Spirit would highlight a few astrologers in this supernatural event, but then again it’s very fitting. Think about what an astrologer is and what they are seeking. The definition of a wise man is a man versed in magic, witchcraft, or astrology, and as stated on www.dictionary.com the word  astrology is the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs. These wise men may not have been in right standing with God in the beginning of this spiritual journey, but they were seeking truth through signs and wonders. And the Star of Bethlehem was an amazing wonder that caught the attention of their spirits. And when they found Jesus they bowed their knees before Him, knowing that they had encountered the real King of kings.

What does the Bible say about signs and wonders? … Signs and wonders point to something greater than the natural working of things on this earth, and true signs and wonders always point to Jesus.

I pray if you are searching for the truth in this life that you will discover the real Jesus. You will experience a divine encounter with Him and come to believe in your heart that He is who He says He is and you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. I pray in this spiritual journey that you will discover the true meaning of Christmas and receive His most precious gift–eternal life.

  • God provided the way for us to have eternal life. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
  • There is only one way to salvation, eternal life with the Father,Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6.
  • It is by God’s grace, not our good works that we enter into Heaven. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9.
  • To enter into God’s kingdom you must do this,Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3.
  • This is how to have eternal life in Heaven with the Father, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10.

Perhaps, you have already found the truth in Jesus and you have humbled yourself before Him and received Him as your Savior, but you desire to know your Savior more. The Word promises us in  James 4:8, Come near to God and he will come near to you.” Isaiah 55:1-3, Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money come, buy and eat Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. “Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. “Incline your ear and come to Me Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David.”

Then there are people all around you that are lost and seeking truth. Many of them have found something that appears greater than they are in the occult and New Age practices. This is the reason they sought this way, they do not want dead religion, they desire something real. The challenge for us this Christmas is to be a light that leads them to the truth that is found only in Jesus Christ.

The beauty of this challenge is that God never expects us to win the Lost in our own strength, but in the strength of His Spirit–Holy Spirit. Zechariah 4:6 tells us how to do this, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. He tells us how He will empower us in Acts 1:8,But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” And He commissions us in the Great Commission, ““Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well,” Mark 16:15-18.

Let’s make Matthew 5:16 our personal prayer for this Christmas season, “May my light so shine before men, that they may see my good works, and glorify my Father which is in heaven.” Lead them to Jesus–without knowing it, they are waiting for you to lead the way that they may too embark on their spiritual journey and find Jesus, their true Savior.

Bless People this Christmas

Since our words are filled with power I believe they are a free gift that we can bless others with every day, especially during this Christmas season. Why not start your morning with the following confession of faith to Jesus before rising out of bed, “This is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it,” Psalm 118:24. If you see that your spouse is struggling to get out of bed due to physical pain or illness use the power of your words and bless them with the prayer of faith, “In Jesus’ name I renounce this pain and sickness and I release the healing power of Holy Spirit to flow in and throughout your entire being, be healed in His mighty name, amen.”

When you walk into the kitchen and find that your teenagers are arguing with one another or your teen is speaking rudely with you, instead of joining in the fight and making matters worse, use the power of your words wisely and break the power of rebellion with a kind and sincere word. For example, “Kids, I know that you are at odds with one another, but we are family, let’s sit down and calmly talk the situation out.” Or if their words are blatant rebellion against you start saying the words that they really desire to hear from you, “I know we don’t agree, but I want you to know I love you.” If they respond back with stinging words such as, “I hate you!” Hold your tongue and say, “I know, but I love you.” And keep on daily with words of love, concern and understanding, eventually you will break that spirit of rebellion.

Whatever the source of confusion–declare words of faith according to God’s promises, and eventually the power of your words will win. The Bible is very clear concerning the power of our words, here are three verses to take to heart. “Your own soul is nourished when you are kind, but you destroy yourself when you are cruel,” Proverbs 11:17.  Proverbs 15: 1 counsels us, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but hard words stir up anger.” And Proverbs 15:4 says that “Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”

When out in public start the habit of greeting people again with a warm “Hello” and a smile on your face. Many people live in such an environment of contention that your kind words, as simple as they may be will be what God uses to bless people with and start to soften their hard hearts. Remember, you don’t always know how someone else hurt this person with their evil use of words. Maybe their spouse insults them on a consistent basis, or their kids are sassing off to them, or their boss just yelled at them for making a mistake, or their coworkers are so dysfunctional that all they hear are derogatory comments all day.

My challenge to all of us this Christmas is to gift people with the blessing of our words this season. Its not as difficult as we may think, and words really do create or destroy people, let’s use them this season to glorify God and bless His people with.

Be Ready for My Coming Is at Hand

The Spirit of the Lord would say to you in this hour;

“Wake up. It’s not time to sleep or to slumber, for the greatest hour of power is upon you.

Light is crashing into darkness, and the light will not blend with this darkness, but will cause a great separation.

You are either for Me or you are against Me, and the motives of your heart will be clear for all to see.

If you love the ways of this world, the love of My Father is not in you.

You make your decision this day about who you will follow.

My sheep hear My voice, and the voice of another they will not follow.

No longer will I allow you to hide behind titles and positions–your sins will find you out.

Now is the time to get down on your knees and repent of the darkness that you have been harboring within your heart.

Those that repent of their sins are forgiven and set free from them, and those that do not are bound to the chains of their chosen sins.

I am not taking you out of this world, but calling you to let your light so shine within it that they may see your good works and glorify My Father in heaven.

I have been sending you My prophets and yet many of you refuse to head the message upon their tongue.

The time is ever so short and I need my people to prepare for My great coming.

Prepare your hearts for all that is about to take place. Do not allow even a bit of leaven to remain. Release yourself from the sin of unbelief.

I am coming for My bride who is without sport or wrinkle.

Get rid of the leprous spots of sin by the power of My blood, and iron out all the wrinkles of the old man and his ways.

Be ready in season and out of season to share with others your reason to believe.

Be prepared to demonstrate with the power of Holy Spirit My love for them with signs and wonders that truly make a difference in their lives.

I tell you that all lives matter, young and old and in between, and the color of skin does not matter, for I have created all equally with the same power–My love.

What counts is what’s on the inside. Do you love Me? And if you do, you will feed my sheep and tend to my lambs.

I say to you, “Love Me with all your heart, soul, and might, and fight the good fight of faith, remain faithful to the very end.  And those who will remain faithful to Me to the very end will hear, “Well done, though good and faithful servant.” And to hear the sound of these words will make all things worth it in the very end.

The end of this earth is near, and it is nearer than you think. The hour is upon you.

You will witness great darkness, and this darkness will quickly overtake the earth. But be not dismayed, for even in the midst of great filth, rebellion, and grave sin the light within you will shine even brighter.

Snuff out your light they will try, and they will if you let them. But for those of you that will take a stand for Me, I will uphold with My righteous right hand. And if I am for you, who can stand up against you? You need to ask yourself, “Am I willing to take this stand?” And if so, “How do I strengthen myself now for what is at hand?”

Prepare yourselves in My Word, read it, study it, speak it, and live it. And be ready to share it with your life to all those around you. Take time now and hide away with Me in the presence of My Father. Learn to sit still and listen for that still small voice of the Spirit. And be very aware of a very powerful spirit of deception that has risen from the depths of hell against you. This spirit of deception will come to you as an angel of light, it will be beautiful to behold, and for the unsuspecting it will snuff your light for me out, and you will walk hand in hand with it, but know that you have been foretold of it’s assignment against you–to steal, to kill, and to destroy you.  And for the undiscerning it’s attack will be subtle and seemingly harmless, and for those not in right standing with Me their light will be snuffed out.

You are not a lone ranger in this battle, but you are part of a body–My body, and even though you may be part of a remnant–together you are stronger than ever. It will appear that you are outnumbered, but open up your spiritual eyes in this hour and know that there is a heavenly host around about you, and I am making intercession on your behalf and they obey My command as you release the protection of My righteous right hand with your prayers of faith.

Oh, eye has not seen, and ear has not heard all of what is about to take place. For soon, and very soon, you are about to gaze upon My face. The completion of your spiritual race is about to take place. I say to you–pick up your pace, for soon you will be dressed with a fine white lace, and you will leave this earth without a trace of the wickedness of this place.

For those that have made the right choice, it’s time to lift up your voice and rejoice.

For My coming is at hand, just as it was planned. And for those of you that will take a stand, and your station you faithfully man, you will not be like sinking sand, but I will pluck you from the enemy’s hand, and around My throne you shall surely stand. Again I say, “Be ready, for My coming is at hand.”

Can You Talk Yourself to Death?

It might sound humorous, but can you talk yourself to death? It’s an interesting question to look at, especially when this cliché has been around for many years, “You’re going to talk yourself to death”.  And since clichés have been around for many years, most have grown up with them and automatically use them without ever giving thought to what they are actually saying.  But it is time to take a look at this old saying and hold it up to the light of God’s Word.

What does the Bible have to say about the way you speak and about your life in general? Let’s look at the following scripture and read for ourselves. We’ll start with Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” What did the Bible just say? There’s the power of what in our tongues? Life and death. I don’t know about you, but this sounds kind of serious to me. And to think that the tongue (our spoken language) has power to produce anything is a bit mind-boggling. But if the Holy Bible says it, then I believe it. After all it is our standard to live by, it is the infallible word of God.

And the second part of the verse has this to say, “and those who love it will eat its fruit.” I guess the next question to ask ourselves is “What type of fruit are we going to indulge upon?” Poisonous fruit or life-giving fruit. Holy Spirit is always visual with me, and as I write this last question I envision a large wooden bowl of fruit set on the table before me, some of it is poisonous, and the other fruit is full of life. It’s pretty obvious which fruit I would take and eat of–life-giving, of coarse.

So too it is with our words. And our precious Holy Spirit has set before us a beautiful bowl of powerful fruit to partake of everyday–spoken words. Some will harm us if not used properly, others will heal us in spirit, soul, and in our physical body as well. And we get to choose which fruit we will dine upon today.

And this leads us back to the original question, “Can you talk yourself to death?” According to God’s word, Yes, one can.
