Do I Have What it Takes to Endure Persecution?

We see that difficult times are upon us, and that persecution against us is ramping up. And many fear what might happen, and others question if they have what it takes to endure persecution. Let’s examine our hearts and ask ourselves the hard question, “Can I endure these difficult times?”

How does our Lord Jesus respond to the church in Smyrna? Let’s read this portion of Scripture to find out.

“8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write:

The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:

‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the slander by those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11 The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.’

They do not hear a rebuke, but only words of encouragement. Who are they? They are the persecuted Church. He encourages them to not fear their imminent sufferings, but to be faithful to the end.

Therefore, the question to ask ourselves is, “Do I have the level of faithfulness it takes to endure persecution?”” Revelation 2: 8-11, NASB.

As we read, we see that they do not receive a rebuke, but only words of encouragement. Who are these Church goers? They are the persecuted Church. And He encourages them to not fear their imminent sufferings, but to be faithful to the end.

What else do we read about fear in God’s Word, that will help us to remain fearless? We read in Second Timothy 1:7, “ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Fear is beyond just an emotion, it is a spirit, and it is not a spirit that comes from God. And instead of fear He gives to us power. In Zechariah 4:6 we are told, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” Our Lord knows what we are about to face, and He personally understands what it will take for us to overcome this spirit of fear. And where does this power come from? And what will we do with this power? Acts 1:8 makes it plain, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

According to Second Timothy 1:7, we not only receive power, but also love. There is power in love, and quite frankly without love we are powerless. First John 4:16 tells us, “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” Just as supernatural power is found in Him, so too is love. He doesn’t just love, He is love. And it will take His power fueled by His love to overcome persecution. Our love for Him will keep us on the straight and narrow, even during times of tribulation, difficult times.

We are also told in Second Timothy 1:7, that instead of fear we are given a sound mind. During these intense times we see how our enemy, satan is attacking our mind and emotions, to wear us out so that we give up the fight. But let’s not give up this good fight of faith but take the enemy head on and bring him down and walk in the victory we have been given. As we see in His Holy Word, we have been given the mind of Christ. And His Word is sharper than any two-edged sword, and it pierces us down in our inner most being.

This message may be simple, but it’s filled with reassurance, that even in times of persecution for our faith, He will be with us. And He has equipped us with powerful weapons of faith such as power, love, and a sound mind to endure even in times of persecution.

Let’s pray.

“Father God, You tell us not to be afraid, and I need to confess that sometimes I struggle with fear about being persecuted. I am not filled with fear because I think You are weak, but that I know my own frailties spiritually. And sometimes I am unfaithful to trust You to protect me. I know this is not right, and I desire to get to the place where I know that I know, I trust You. I trust You no matter what they say to me, or how they act out against me. I choose to rely upon Your strength, and I thank You that You are faithful to me. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Do I Still Love My Savior, Jesus?

Today begins the start of a twenty-one day “Daniel Fast”. And during this time of fast and prayer, I want to help you to begin to purge your spirit of unwanted baggage that can cause a blockage between you and the Lord. The first seven days I want us to focus on the seven churches addressed in the Book of Revelation. Over the years, I have spent much time contemplating this all-important message to the follower of Christ today. And believe me when I say, “This will help you to locate where you are spiritually today and make necessary changes to where you want and need to be.” Let’s begin with the first message to the Church in Ephesus found in Revelation 2: 1-7, (NASB).

“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:

The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this:

‘I know your deeds and your labor and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people, and you have put those who call themselves apostles to the test, and they are not, and you found them to be false; and you have perseverance and have endured on account of My name, and have not become weary. But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and I will remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. But you have this, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will grant to eat from the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.’

This first message to the churches addresses the Church in Ephesus and the condition of the spiritual hearts. God recognizes their deeds, their labor, their perseverance, their intolerance for evil people, and their discernment to judge false apostles. It appears with these qualities that they will have God’s approval, but they don’t.  In fact, even though they are godly in behavior, they fail and receive a warning to repent, or they will lose their position to shine their light. And why do they fail? They fail because they lose their love for Christ. And just as this is a warning for the Church of Ephesus, it is also a warning for God’s people today, in the midst of trying to live a godly lifestyle, abiding by the guidelines and boundaries set up for us by the Spirit of God, we can lose our focus, our reason for living a holy lifestyle–our Savior, Jesus. And by striving to be good and godly we forget about Him, take Him for granted, and our Christian behaviors override our love for Him. I don’t believe any of us set out to find us in this spiritual condition, but obviously it happens more frequently than we would like to admit, otherwise it would not have been addressed to the Church in the Book of Revelation.

What do we do if we find ourselves in this undesirable situation? The Spirit of God tells us what to do in verse five, “Remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first.” God so lovingly warns us of the dangers of striving to be good and godly that we can unintentionally lose our focus, and take Him for granted, and forget how much He loves us, and desires or us to love Him in return.

Let’s pray.

“Father God, forgive me for striving so hard to be good and godly that I have forgotten my reason, and my source for surrendering to You in the first place. I do love You; I do desire to have a close and intimate relationship with You. I recognize that You are not only my Savior who delivered, forgave, and redeemed me from hell and myself, but You are my Lord; the One that I adore, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

Diabetes Type 2 Healing Testimony

This past weekend I ministered at New Promise Christian Fellowship here in Phoenix, AZ, and I want to share with you one of the testimonies that have come to my attention.

There was a man, Michael sitting behind me during worship. I shook his hand and introduced myself to him, but I could tell something was wrong. Either he was very sick or he did not want to be there. I was to find out that he was indeed very sick with type 2 Diabetes. His family brought him to the healing service. They reported as of Thursday his blood sugar levels were at 429.

For those of us that are in the unknown about blood sugar levels, “Just how bad is a blood sugar level reading in the 400’s?” According to my quick research on the internet it says this is very dangerous and can lead to a medical emergency such as, seizures, coma, or death. Now that’s the bad report in the natural.

Now for the good news. After ministering the healing power of the Lord to him at the healing service on Sunday his blood sugar levels dropped down to 138. And again, on Monday they tested his blood sugar levels and they were down to 111.

This is a great testimony about what the healing power of the redemptive blood of Jesus can and will do for you. So, whatever the situation, call out to God, trust Him to touch you with His healing power today.

Step 1 to Claim Your Victory Over the Enemy

Let’s face it, it’s one thing to accept that God calls us for such times, but how do we begin to wrap our heads around the fact that our Messiah, the Omnipotent, all-powerful One who creates this universe, designs the power of the wind, water, gravity and all that holds this earth together actually needs us to be on earth at this time.

A humbling thought to say the least—with His unlimited power, what could we possibly do for Him during these times?

I firmly believe we can escape to this higher ground of His by leaning into each of the following spiritual activities that will equip us, strengthen us, and give us the assurance we need from Him to be at peace while in the midst of chaos. Follow the leading of Holy Spirit, our Comforter, and do as He instructs: pray, raise the standard of the blood of Jesus, recognize the enemy, use the power of His name, and step into revelational truth. Let’s look at this first step to claim your victory over the enemy together, pray (Intercession).

1. Intercession

One of the main ways to escape the chaos and to head to higher ground is by intercession—by praying. Jesus shows Himself to be a man of prayer while on earth. By His true example we see how He keeps Himself in tune with His heavenly Father and spiritually strong during stressful and demanding times—by praying routinely.

Disciple and physician Luke records accurate details of what he observed Jesus do. In Luke 5:16 we read one of his important details about our Messiah: “So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” If you ever wonder how many times we should pray, the answer by Luke’s observation is “often.” We should stop what we are doing and pray often throughout our daily business.

According to Mark 1:35 (NIV) we discover an interesting fact about when Jesus prayed: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Knowing that details in the Bible are recorded for our benefit, getting up early in the morning to pray is a spiritual key to setting the events of the day in order.

Matthew, clearly a gift of the Lord to us, carefully documents the life of the Messiah for us to learn from. Matthew records this detail about the prayer life of Jesus Christ for us: “And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there” (Matthew 14:23). Something I know from personal experience is that ministering to the crowds can drain our strength, so it is important to spend time alone to deposit His supernatural strength back into us. Spending time alone with our heavenly Father at the end of the day revitalizes our spirit.

Yes, it is powerful to pray with others, but it is also important for our spiritual growth that we spend time alone praying to God. Jesus instructs us in Matthew 6:6:

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

As we briefly observe the prayer life of Jesus in these four verses, we may think it is a lot of time to spend in prayer; but if we want to overcome in these turbulent times, we need to tap into this supernatural realm of intercession.

Even now in Heaven, Jesus remains in this all-powerful lifestyle of prayer. The apostle Paul writes to us in the Book of Romans, revealing this amazing insight about Christ’s faithfulness toward us in prayer:

“Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us” (Romans 8:33-34).

You will note throughout this work is a strong emphasis on prayer and intercession. And the reason being is prayer changes things. The prayer of faith is a foundational move of Holy Spirit and accomplishes great things. As priests for God we must pray to be wired into His circuit of healing glory.

The following are eight areas to pray about:

  1. The will of the Father be accomplished on earth. “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

  2. Pray for the forgiveness of sins for others. “If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that” (1 John 5:16).

  3. Pray for your enemies. “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

  4. Pray for protection from temptation. “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41).

  5. Pray for the healing of others. “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16 NIV).

  6. Pray for our leaders. “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:1-2 NIV).

  7. Pray for the peace of Israel. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you’” (Psalm 122:6).

  8. Pray in faith for your needs to be met. “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:24).

Granted, there are many things we can pray about, but this list of eight is a powerful start for your journey to higher ground.

Confession of Faith for Recreated Healed Heart

In the name of Jesus’, my Healer, I renounce this spirit of death that is coming against my heart and the heart of those that I love. I curse this congenital heart defect. I release the creative power of the blood of Jesus to flow in the structure of the heart to recreate it so that it can function perfectly normal, amen.

I stand in faith against Coronary artery disease, and release the healing power of our Lord Jesus Christ to flow through my arteries to cleanse them from plaque buildup, so that my blood can flow freely throughout my heart muscle.

I prophesy words of faith over my heart, and I declare that I no longer suffer from heart arrhythmia. I speak words full of life into my electrical system that it is recreated, and strengthened. And not only is my heart recreated and beating better than normal, but it supersedes all expectations and negative reports spoken over it.

I renounce all viruses, bad bacteria, parasites (natural or manmade), I declare what I already have–a recreated heart, that functions properly on its own with no defects, weaknesses, diseases, or irregularities. My heart is the right shape and size for my body and pumps life, health and strength throughout my entire body.

I praise my Lord that I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD, Psalm 118:17, in Jesus’ most holy name I confess these words of faith for a recreated and healed heart, amen.

Healing Is an Evangelistic Tool

Never underestimate the power of healing, whether it be your healing or the healing of another in these turbulent days. Healing points to the Messiah. It proves that the God you have been professing all these years is real. It grabs the attention of the unbeliever: “And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did” (Acts 8:6).  This is why the enemy fights so hard against this message. He is afraid of the fruit of salvation that is harvested through healing.

Take the limits off God about who can and who cannot be healed. Throughout all these years of ministering healing to people around the world, I stand amazed at just who receives their healing and who doesn’t receive what God has for them. I have witnessed the most rebellious people on the streets receive instant healing, and they are so amazed that in the midst of all their rebellion that someone reached out in the name of Jesus and they were healed.

While ministering on the streets of Guatemala City, a young rebellious teenage boy was screaming obscenities in my husband’s and my face because he hated who we represented–God. But when his freshly broken arm (broken in a gang fight earlier that day) was instantly healed, he stopped his filthiness and listened and heard us give the message of the Lord.

These amazing miracles proclaim loudly the Gospel of Jesus Christ and hail the praise of our Messiah. The hearts of the rebellious are absolutely stunned by the power of grace bestowed upon them as a dead baby in the womb of a young prostitute comes back to life, infected stab wounds are healed, kids with STD are set free from suffering within a moment of time. These miraculous healings confirm our evangelistic words about our loving and living God.

And God is just waiting for us to set our faith in motion on behalf of other people. When we do, great things happen.

How about we take this to your own neighborhood, the street where you live, and start with your next-door neighbor? When you hear that they are sick and dying from cancer, what are you going to do about it? will you take the risk of rejection and reach out in the name of the Lord and share the love of God with them through al healing touch? Do you understand the impact you can start to have all around you in these last days? I am telling you, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by being willing and obedient to the command in the Great Commission.

Let’s read this great commission again and remind ourselves what the Lord would have us do:

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:15-18).
