The Church Needs to Offer Healing Again

If we want to see a mighty move of the Holy Spirit filled with healing and miracles, then we need to teach the full Gospel of Jesus Christ and give an opportunity for the people to be healed.

I remember many years ago I visited a Church in the US with a friend, and during the worship service I saw a man in a wheelchair that was paralyzed from the waist down, and the rest of his body was distorted. As the Spirit of the Lord started to move, I saw this man raise his twisted arm up to acknowledge his adoration to the Lord. Tears ran down my face, as my spirit felt grieved for this man.

My heart ached within me for two reasons. The first reason, physically he was weak, but his spirit was strong. Yet, he was trapped inside of a broken body, and was in need of a miracle. The second reason my heart felt sad is that I know that with a prayer of faith he could be set free and healed, but he and the others that he came with were whisked out the door before the service ended. The presence of the Holy Spirit was present to heal, but no opportunity was offered to this man, or to anyone else for that matter. And even though this incident happened many years ago, many Churches are the same today.

The other day I had an in-depth conversation with a pastoral friend concerning faith and healing.  We were discussing the following questions, “Why are people in the Church so sick?”  “Why is it so difficult for Christians in the US to receive healing?”  And “What is it going to take to have a mighty move of God with supernatural healing and miracles manifesting on a regular basis?”

My response to these questions all revolve around the theme of faith.  Our faith must be stirred in order to receive healing. When I say that our faith must be stirred, I am not referring to a moment when emotions are high. Faith hasn’t anything to do with emotions. Faith is trust. And we need to be able to trust in God and His Word to receive healing.

If the Church is not willing to teach about God’s supernatural healing power, then the people will come to the service without any expectations to receive healing from God. And they will return to their homes just as they came, weak and sick.  If we, as individuals do not read and study the Bible concerning healing we will not be able to trust in God’s promises that His healing power has been made available for us today. Therefore, we will suffer and die prematurely because we do not understand God’s will to heal us.

God is not withholding His healing power from the people of the United States.  The manifestation of divine healing is not given because people are poorer or have greater needs than others. It’s not supernaturally dispersed because one lives in a certain region of the world. The reason healing does manifest more readily in certain parts of the world is because the Word of God for healing and miracles is being taught in those lands on a regular basis. Therefore, the faith of the people is developed and they readily receive their healing miracle.

In order to develop our faith or trust in God to receive healing we need to hear His Word concerning healing. If the Church desires a mighty move of God within her midst with signs and wonders following, then she must be willing to open up the Bible and teach the full Gospel of the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ, which includes healing and miracles, and then offer the opportunity to be healed. We, as individuals need to be responsible too, and read and study God’s Word for ourselves, and stir up our own faith to receive His healing  power into our bodies, or to release it to others.

If we will saturate ourselves and the land in which we live with the Word of God concerning healing, then faith for healing will arise and healing will manifest.

The Bible tells us in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the  word of God.”

Leaders, God’s People Want Healing

Leaders, God’s people want healing, and they also want to know how to have faith so that others receive their healing too. They are done with living in defeat. And this is something we should all agree upon. It’s time we take up the shield of faith, and the sword of the Spirit and  put on the rest of our attire and fight the good fight of faith, defeat our enemy, the devil, and win the battles in this life. God’s people want healing.

We need to stop making excuses as to why some do not receive their manifested healing, and move forward in the spirit of truth so that others can receive their healing. Repentance needs to come to the Church, God’s people, for a lack of faith, a lack of revelation that only comes from hearing and hearing the Word of God. Haven’t we lost enough members of our family to sickness and disease? When are we going to look in the mirror of God’s Word and say, “Father, forgive us. We have missed the mark in this area, we have not taught ourselves how to believe the promises in Your Word. And many have suffered needlessly as a result of our lack of faith.”

Are we really willing to turn our backs on the redemptive blood of Christ so we can  hold onto our faithless doctrines of unbelief and foolish pride? Are we really willing to look Jesus in the eye and declare to Him that it was His fault that we did not receive our manifested healing on this earth? Are we going to tell Him that it was His fault that we did not train ourselves to believe His redemptive promise for the healing of our spirit, soul, and body? I really don’t believe we will be able to do so then, so why do we take this stance against Him now?

God’s Word plainly tells us in Isaiah 53:4-5 that by His stripes we are healed. He tells us in 1 Timothy 6:12 that we are to fight the good fight of faith. In other words, we are in a battle, but God is not our enemy, He is not withholding our healing from us. Satan is our enemy, he is the one that does not want us to receive our healing. He’s the thief that Jesus warns us about in John 10:10 that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy us, and he uses his mass weapons of destruction, sickness and disease against us. Why? Because he hates us, he is jealous of us. He lost his position in the realm of spiritual order, and he wants us to do the same–lose in life.

But Jesus, oh, that wonderful Lord and Savior of ours, did everything in His power to undo the wicked works of satan in or lives. And He won the good fight of faith while on this earth so we can walk in His victory while on this earth. He told us in the second part of John 10:10 about Himself, “I have come to give you life, and life in abundance.” When will we take up our responsibility and believe Him? Nowhere in the New Testament did Jesus tell us He would put sickness and disease upon us to teach us a lesson, to punish us, to test our faithfulness to Him. Nowhere is it recorded in the Scriptures that God only heals some, but not all. This type of doctrine is false, and anti Redemption, and it devalues the power of the Blood.

Repentance needs to come to the Church, and it needs to start with the leaders of God’s people. We need to stop teaching people to trust in human reasoning and their 5 senses above God’s Word. We need to stop encouraging people to align themselves with the unbelief of this world. Enough is enough! God’s people want healing. They want leaders who will teach them how to believe again, to give them a reason to trust in their Savior–Jesus Christ. Leaders, get back to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Good News that draws all people onto Himself!

Believers Are Invite In

Jesus is both willing and able to heal, but He gives us the responsibility of a free will. He respects the authority of the house. When the authority of the house surrenders to His ultimate authority, His healing power releases and heals. Let’s look to the following example found in Luke 8:40-56 to understand what I mean.

Here we read the testimony of how a man named Jairus invites Jesus to his house to heal his sick daughter. Jesus agrees to go with him to his house but has another woman to attend to first. In the meantime, Jairus’ daughter dies. When they arrive, Jesus encounters doubt and unbelief. He tries to encourage the people to believe, but they only laugh at Him. But because Jesus has the go-ahead from the authority of that household, Jairus and his wife, He minsters to their daughter.

Before He can do so, He has to kick the doubt and unbelief out. In other words, He makes the doubters leave the room and shuts the door and only allows those who believe with Him–Peter, James, and John and the girl’s parents. He then raises her from the dead.

My question for you is this, “If you had been there at this time, what side of the door would you be on?” Would you be one of the few that Jesus allowed into the room? Or would you be with the majority that thought human reasoning and common sense were greater than the power of faith to raise this girl from the dead? Sometimes we look at these examples in the Bible and forget that these stories are true happenings with real people just like you and me. I believe this situation is taking place over and over again within Christian families everyday all around the world. And yet many are quick to place the blame on God and say it’s not His will to heal this person, and negate their responsibility to believe.

Peter, James and John were 3 out of 12 disciples that were receiving personal training from Jesus about His kingdom ways. The others had the same opportunities to learn how to believe, but they chose to remain outside of Jesus’ inner circle. How about you? What side of the door are you on? As a believer in Jesus do you actually believe in His ways? Are you included in His inner circle because you have trained yourself to believe? Or are you on the wrong side of the door because you believe in your human reasoning more then you do in the sayings and ways of Jesus? These might be tough questions for us to ask ourselves, but they are real and to the point. And they are the type of questions we should be using to judge ourselves with. I don’t know about you, but I desire to be invited into His inner circle, and be apart of His Kingdom ways.

Seizures Healed!

December 26, 2018 Victor writes requesting prayer for his little girl who has been suffering with epileptic seizures for 7 months. He writes, “Dear Becky, please pray for my daughter (3 years plus) who has been suffering epileptic seizure disorder for about 7 months now. I believe in the Spiritual Authority & God’s Grace for Healing upon you Ma & I am confident that my daughter will be completely healed when you pray for her. Thanks Ma.”

I respond with a prophetic prayer of faith for her deliverance and healing. “In the name of Jesus’ I renounce this spirit of death, epilepsy and seizures attacking your daughter. I release the healing power of Jesus to flow in and throughout her brain. I command all pathways that have been dug out in her brain for seizures to follow to be supernaturally erased for the glory of God and no new pathways for seizures may be redug for the glory of God. No more seizures because there is no more epilepsy for the glory of Jesus, amen and amen.”

January 2, 2019 Victor writes to testify of his daughter’s glorious healing. He shares, “Dear Becky, the Almighty God is indeed still in the business of doing the impossible and the miraculous. I can confirm to you that the seizures have all stopped; this is so breathtakingly miraculous. My family & I are completely dazed & awed at the Power of God at work. It just happened just like that. My daughter has regained her perfect state of health. The most astonishing fact is that she got completely healed before we crossed into the New Year. Now, we are confident that she can resume school with her peers after the holidays. Oh, Jesus Christ is indeed the same yesterday, today and forever. We stand amazed at the Power of the Almighty God. To Him be all the Glory, honor and adoration forever and ever. I celebrate the Grace of God upon your life Ma. May God bless and take your ministry to yet more glorious and greater dimensions far beyond your greatest imaginations and expectations. AMEN.”

This is what happens when we put our trust in the redemptive work of Jesus, and use the power of the spoken word and prophesy healing in His name.

Your Words Have Power

What we say over ourselves or what we say to others is important. The Bible is clear in Proverbs 18:21, The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. This power in our words can hurt or  heal, encourage or discourage, build up or  tear down, and we are the ones that choose what type of power we operate in.

Here are a few verses to consider about the power of your words. Take these Scriptures to heart and pray to the Holy Spirit for help in this area.

  • Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips, Psalm 141:3.
  • Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer, Psalm 19:14.
  • The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing, Proverbs 12:18.

The words you speak will determine what happens in your daily life. So choose them wisely. When you align your words with what the Bible says, you will then begin to see the results you so desire.

  • The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit, Proverbs 15:4.
  • Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends, Proverbs 17:9.
  • What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them,” Matthew 15:11.

I don’t believe that most people set out to hurt others with their words. I think sometimes we just don’t hear the pain our words can carry to others. But we can surely learn to recognize the power behind our words with a simple prayer for help from the Holy Spirit.

Dear Holy Spirit,

Help me to hear the words that I speak. Correct me if they are full of death and pain to myself or to others. I desire that my words are pleasing to you and a blessing to the receiver too.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen and amen.

Your Faith Can Save a Life

Your gift of faith, no matter the measure-even if it is the size of a mustard seed, when actively shared with others by your faith- filled words and prayers can make the difference, they can actually save a life.

I received this letter this week from a dear woman who was fighting with a spirit of suicide, but something miraculous happened, and it started by words and prayers of faith. May this personal letter that I am sharing with you touch your heart, and open your spiritual eyes to understand the importance of your faith-filled words.

“Earlier this week I wrote out a suicide letter and spent a while contemplating after which I tore the pages form the notepad and destroyed them. As I did your name was written on the page beneath the ones I tore out as I had watched you on Sid Roth and had written along with  it the confessions for healing that you spoke, I had been having rough sleep due to the mental anguish and in a lot of physical pain also and when I eventually fell asleep that night I woke from a dream in which I was being healed. I’ll never forget how I woke as my dog sat beside me on the bed as if she were trying to keep me safe. I was still in a lot of pain and decided to go and research your name and buy a book on Amazon, but I couldn’t decide which one so I found your Youtube channels and watched almost all of the videos there, I felt the very tangible power of the Holy Spirit in your words and I slept for almost 12 full hours the next night and in much less pain. As I started reading DARE to Believe on my Kindle the torment began to ease and I found the exercises so easy to follow. I know I have a lot more healing to do but I feel I have the right instruction manual and feel more positive that I can do this. When I read the part about accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior I didn’t just read it with my mind, I felt every cell in my body accepting Him giving life to my bones. I just wanted to thank you for sharing your gift with us. I believe my faith is being restored along with my physical body and with it my mind is being renewed, and hopefully my family and life and relationships too. By faith in Jesus’ name, thank you. “

My response to this dear woman.

“In the name of Jesus’ I release the Spirit of Peace over you, over your mind and emotions that they are healed and made whole. Jesus loves you with an unconditional love. He is always for you, and never against you. There isn’t anything you can do to earn His love, and there isn’t anything you can do to lose His love for you. He loves you whether you love Him or not. We have the promise in His word that His precious thoughts, not just thoughts, but precious ones out number the sands of this earth.

I am so thankful to Jesus that you are alive.

God bless you,
Becky :O)”

Miracles for Christmas

Are you in need of a miracle? There’s no better time than Christmas to receive your miraculous gift from God. The events that surround the birth of our Savior are so miraculous in every way imaginable–and then some. No matter the need you are facing you can find hope for your miracle in the historical events of Jesus’ birth.

Let’s look at some of these events and see how they can impact our lives today.

Are you struggling with an impossible situation? Many people are today. We read about two very important characters in the Christmas story who were a childless couple, Elizabeth and her husband and priest, Zachariah. And despite Elizabeth’s barrenness and the fact that they were both advanced in age, they conceived a promised child–John. Who we come to know as John the Baptist. Because as it says in Luke 1:37, “For nothing will be impossible with God”. See Luke 1:13-57. Regardless of the impossible situation you are facing, whether it be infertility or another situation; always remember with God all things, not some things, but all things are possible “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes,” Mark 9:23.

Are you in need of divine favor? Mary received favor, supernatural favor from God in that she was chosen, the chosen vessel to birth the Christ child into this world. Luke 1:28 her favor is announced, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” Did you realize that you too have God’s favor resting upon you. It says in Psalm 5:12 concerning God’s favor,For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Could you use some real reassurance concerning your calling? Mary continues to receive this reassurance about all that she has heard the Lord say to her, let’s see the first confirmation recorded after this angelic visitation from Gabriel. In Luke 1:41-45 it says, “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. And she cried out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! “And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me? “For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy. “And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.”  Romans 8:31 gives a great message of reassurance for today, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Are you in need of a message directly from Heaven? People all around the world are receiving angelic visitations with messages from heaven  just like the people we read about in the Christmas story. The shepherds were visited by one angel with an evangelistic message, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” And then appeared host of angels praising God and saying “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with who He is pleased.” And Hebrews 1:14 teaches us concerning angels, Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

Perhaps you need supernatural direction, the wise men were given the Star of Bethlehem to lead them on a spiritual journey that led them to Jesus. Matthew 2:1-2, “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Do you know that you have been given a spiritual compass that is full of supernatural wisdom to give you direction for your daily living? It’s called the Word of God. Psalm 119:105 tells us about the teachings of the Bible, Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.Hebrews 4:12 tells us,For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says concerning the Word of God, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

If you will learn to listen and heed the voice of God, He will protect your from the evil plans of the enemy today. We read in Matthew 2:13 how an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.” And for us today in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 is a promise of protection,But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.”

We can even find the Father’s supernatural provision for our families in the Christmas story in the example of the gifts of Magi as they present their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. See Matthew 2: 11. God knows what we have need of and His word tells us in Matthew 6:33, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Whatever the need or concern in your life is there is a miracle this Christmas for you from Jesus. Reach out to Him, believe and then receive from Him.

Embark on a Spiritual Journey this Christmas

We read in Matthew 2:1-2, “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”  The wise men of old embarked on a spiritual journey that led them to the Savior, Jesus Christ. They followed a sign, the star, a bright shining light in the heavens. This supernatural sign guided them to the truth found only in Jesus.

Let’s study these 2 verses a bit more in depth to find an added dimension to our beloved Christmas story. First of all, the wise men according to the Blue Letter Bible are defined as the oriental wise men (astrologers) who, having discovered by the rising of a remarkable star that the Messiah had just been born, came to Jerusalem to worship him. I find it interesting that Holy Spirit would highlight a few astrologers in this supernatural event, but then again it’s very fitting. Think about what an astrologer is and what they are seeking. The definition of a wise man is a man versed in magic, witchcraft, or astrology, and as stated on www.dictionary.com the word  astrology is the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs. These wise men may not have been in right standing with God in the beginning of this spiritual journey, but they were seeking truth through signs and wonders. And the Star of Bethlehem was an amazing wonder that caught the attention of their spirits. And when they found Jesus they bowed their knees before Him, knowing that they had encountered the real King of kings.

What does the Bible say about signs and wonders? … Signs and wonders point to something greater than the natural working of things on this earth, and true signs and wonders always point to Jesus.

I pray if you are searching for the truth in this life that you will discover the real Jesus. You will experience a divine encounter with Him and come to believe in your heart that He is who He says He is and you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. I pray in this spiritual journey that you will discover the true meaning of Christmas and receive His most precious gift–eternal life.

  • God provided the way for us to have eternal life. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
  • There is only one way to salvation, eternal life with the Father,Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6.
  • It is by God’s grace, not our good works that we enter into Heaven. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9.
  • To enter into God’s kingdom you must do this,Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3.
  • This is how to have eternal life in Heaven with the Father, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10.

Perhaps, you have already found the truth in Jesus and you have humbled yourself before Him and received Him as your Savior, but you desire to know your Savior more. The Word promises us in  James 4:8, Come near to God and he will come near to you.” Isaiah 55:1-3, Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money come, buy and eat Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. “Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. “Incline your ear and come to Me Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David.”

Then there are people all around you that are lost and seeking truth. Many of them have found something that appears greater than they are in the occult and New Age practices. This is the reason they sought this way, they do not want dead religion, they desire something real. The challenge for us this Christmas is to be a light that leads them to the truth that is found only in Jesus Christ.

The beauty of this challenge is that God never expects us to win the Lost in our own strength, but in the strength of His Spirit–Holy Spirit. Zechariah 4:6 tells us how to do this, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. He tells us how He will empower us in Acts 1:8,But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” And He commissions us in the Great Commission, ““Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well,” Mark 16:15-18.

Let’s make Matthew 5:16 our personal prayer for this Christmas season, “May my light so shine before men, that they may see my good works, and glorify my Father which is in heaven.” Lead them to Jesus–without knowing it, they are waiting for you to lead the way that they may too embark on their spiritual journey and find Jesus, their true Savior.

Bold Faith

Bold faith–what is it? Where does it come from? And how did you get it? These are very good questions that I am asked of often. And just last night, as I lay in my bed I started to dream. In this dream I was being interviewed and these are the very questions I heard the host ask me. With my response I started to laugh, “Oh, that’s easy.” He looked at me with a puzzled look. I responded, “It’s because I love God. I know Him, and I trust Him.” With that response that interview could have been over right then and there, but it wasn’t. He wanted to know more.

I am often cited as a person of bold faith, even though I think of myself as a normal everyday person. And maybe that’s a clue to develop a faith that is bold–not to think of yourself to highly, but to research the Scriptures until you discover who you really are in Christ. Allow me to briefly teach you just who you are in Christ.

According to Genesis 1:26-28, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” This portion of Scriptures teaches us that we have been created in the image of Elohim (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). And this isn’t just any image, but with a little research it means a mirror image. When you look in a mirror what do you see? You see yourself, your image, just as you are. And He chose to give us dominion over every living creature. And he also gave us the command to be fruitful and to multiply, and this means more than having babies, but to produce supernatural fruit by a supernatural means–spiritual multiplication. And as we read in Luke 10:19, Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” In other words, He has given you all His authority over satan and all of his wicked works.

The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:17 that as Jesus is so are we in this world. Jesus is a supernatural being and He operates by the same supernatural power that He expects us to operate with–by faith. And when He walked on this earth, He left His God powers in Heaven and lived like we live–as humans. But one of the life assignments while on this earth was to show us how to live by faith. And I think we can all agree the type of faith He demonstrated for us was bold faith. And as His ambassadors we too are to walk like He walked–with bold faith.

So bold faith comes from knowing and trusting God. And this happens when you press deep into personal relationship with Jesus. And in order to go deep into relationship with our Lord you have to spend personal time with Him, not just a little bit of time, but a lot of time, most of your time with Him. No matter your circumstances you can do this. It is a matter of personal choices and prioritizing your life.

In the early days of starting a children’s home in Guatemala people would ask me how I could spend so much time with Jesus and in His Word. My response was always the same, “I can’t afford not to spend my time with Him.” My first assignment back then was to tend to 17 children (12 adolescent boys off the streets [who were filled with demons] and 5 babies), the next assignment was 14 little ones (and many of them were very sick and fighting death in the beginning). I would sit down on the floor with them playing all around me and I would read to them from the Bible. Whatever I was studying from the Word became the theme of that day. And I worshiped the Lord in front of them and with them. We sang, we danced, and we prayed for whatever the need we were facing was. We did it together. And God used the lives of these children to teach me about the boldest faith there is–childlike faith. I didn’t say childish or immature faith, but childlike. Where you believe without questioning and doubting yourself out of a miracle. And this is how my faith became simple and uncomplicated–childlike.

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven, Matthew 18:3.

And then came the other aspect of developing bold faith, by learning to be dependent upon God. I had to learn how to activate who I was in Him by depending upon Him for my daily strength. I knew full well that I could not do this on my own. In order to be victorious, I had to gather my strength from Him. When we depend upon our own strength, our own ideas, our own ways–we fail. But when we are dependent upon Him–we win.

Bless People this Christmas

Since our words are filled with power I believe they are a free gift that we can bless others with every day, especially during this Christmas season. Why not start your morning with the following confession of faith to Jesus before rising out of bed, “This is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it,” Psalm 118:24. If you see that your spouse is struggling to get out of bed due to physical pain or illness use the power of your words and bless them with the prayer of faith, “In Jesus’ name I renounce this pain and sickness and I release the healing power of Holy Spirit to flow in and throughout your entire being, be healed in His mighty name, amen.”

When you walk into the kitchen and find that your teenagers are arguing with one another or your teen is speaking rudely with you, instead of joining in the fight and making matters worse, use the power of your words wisely and break the power of rebellion with a kind and sincere word. For example, “Kids, I know that you are at odds with one another, but we are family, let’s sit down and calmly talk the situation out.” Or if their words are blatant rebellion against you start saying the words that they really desire to hear from you, “I know we don’t agree, but I want you to know I love you.” If they respond back with stinging words such as, “I hate you!” Hold your tongue and say, “I know, but I love you.” And keep on daily with words of love, concern and understanding, eventually you will break that spirit of rebellion.

Whatever the source of confusion–declare words of faith according to God’s promises, and eventually the power of your words will win. The Bible is very clear concerning the power of our words, here are three verses to take to heart. “Your own soul is nourished when you are kind, but you destroy yourself when you are cruel,” Proverbs 11:17.  Proverbs 15: 1 counsels us, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but hard words stir up anger.” And Proverbs 15:4 says that “Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”

When out in public start the habit of greeting people again with a warm “Hello” and a smile on your face. Many people live in such an environment of contention that your kind words, as simple as they may be will be what God uses to bless people with and start to soften their hard hearts. Remember, you don’t always know how someone else hurt this person with their evil use of words. Maybe their spouse insults them on a consistent basis, or their kids are sassing off to them, or their boss just yelled at them for making a mistake, or their coworkers are so dysfunctional that all they hear are derogatory comments all day.

My challenge to all of us this Christmas is to gift people with the blessing of our words this season. Its not as difficult as we may think, and words really do create or destroy people, let’s use them this season to glorify God and bless His people with.
