Everyday Words Can Harm Us

Did you know our everyday words can harm us? As I talk about in my latest book, The Prophetic and Healing Power of Your Words, before we become successful in the big-ticket items that need serious prophetic healing, we need to focus on the day-to-day, seemingly harmless phrases that we speak over over ourselves that often cause us a lot of trouble. And they may even be the source of a much bigger problem. The Song of Solomon 2:15 advises s to “Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines for our vines have tender grapes.” Foxes are considered to be destructive animals that can destroy valuable vineyards. Spiritually speaking about the prophetic and healing power of our words, the little foxes are our everyday words we use that can cause us harm. And we need to go on a fox hunt and catch them before they destroy us.

Let’s look at some common statements that we say everyday that can cause us harm, and why.

If we say, “One day I will be healed.” we never will be because we are speaking into the future tense, and we can never catch up to tomorrow. This is why God’s Word is so powerful when it declares in Isaiah 53:5, “By His stripes we are healed.” Personalize this verse and declare over yourself, “By His stripes I am healed.”

If we continue to say about ourselves, “I am so sick and tired of …” Eventually our physical bodies will manifest these words and be sick and tired because our words have the power of life and death in them.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit, Proverbs 18:21.

And perhaps there is a healthier way to say what you really mean to say. Instead of saying, “I’m so sick and tired of …” train yourself to say a positive statement such as, “I need to take a break to refresh.”

Listen to what you say, and ask yourself, “Do I really want to say that?” And ask the Holy Spirit to help you change your words to what you really mean to say.

How to Be Free from Condemnation

Are you fighting to be free from condemnation? If you are, you are not alone. A reader writes because she struggles with condemnation of past sins and reoccuring temptations in her mind about these past sins. She’s not unique in this situation. This is exactly how the enemy attacks God’s people with condemnation. He constantly is interjecting lies into our minds that God holds past sins against us, that He strongly disapproves of us, that there is no hope for us to overcome, or to be healed. His barrage of castigation against us in never ending. So what do we do about it?

Ask Him to forgive you for this sin, accept His forgiveness and move on with life. 1 John 1:9, promises us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When we confess our sins to God, He is faithful to forgive us of the sin, and no longer holds it against us.

What do you do when he torments you with memories of past sin? Anytime the enemy tries to condemn you with reminders of this sin, rebuke him in the name of Jesus. Say aloud, “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus! Get out of here! I am forgiven by the blood of Jesus.”

Also, you need to transform your thought life by reading the Bible daily. Start in the Book of Proverbs, read 1 chapter a day. If it’s January 1st, then you read Proverbs chapter 1. If it is January 25th, then you read Proverbs 25, and so on and so forth. The more you are in God’s Word, the less available room there is for satan to crowd your mind with his condemning thoughts.

We would all be stronger in the faith against satan’s weapon of condemnation if we would get back into reading the Bible again on a daily basis.

  • For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart, Hebrews 4:12.
  • All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work, 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
  • How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word, Psalm 119:9.
  • Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls, James 1:21.
  • Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You, Psalm 119:11.

Curse Sickness in Jesus’ Name

You hear that God’s people curse sickness. What does this mean? This is what we are going to discuss today. You receive a bad medical report. Is there anything you can do about it?

God gives you His blessing to curse satan and his wicked works including sickness and disease. So right now, obey His Word and curse this illness at its very root and see, just like Jesus cursed the fig tree (See Mark 11:12-25).

Use the Sword of the Spirit; go deep into the root system and cut this disease off of your body. Curse the tap root and command it to dry up and die, and all other roots that stem off of this main root dry up and disappear supernaturally. Remind it often that it will not be able to resurrect itself in your body. Nor can it transplant or metastasize itself in any other part of your body.

Speak to the original seed of this disease, the see of sin that was planted back in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve first sinned. Renounce this generational curse because you have been redeemed from it (see Gal. 3:13).

Dominate all seeds that this disease has produced to wither and die. Put them in their place beneath your authority in Jesus Christ; let them know who is boss and that they may not germinate ever again in your body or pass on to another generation.

Boldly Declare Your Healing

I will boldly declare my healing, even when the attack of the enemy bears down hard and the reports shout death, I will not fear. I put my trust in my God:

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Like Abraham, I make a quality decision to believe “in the presence of Him whom he believed–God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did” (Rom. 4:17). I boldly declare His abundant life, healing, power, and supernatural strength to overtake my body.

I bind myself to the power of the blood of Jesus to take down this illness, to heal me, to recreate this physical body of mine, to renew my strength. According to the healing words of Isaiah 40:29-31, because I wait upon the Lord, I will mount up with wings like eagles, I will run and not be weary, I will walk and not faint, in Jesus’ name I declare, amen.

And this day I boldly declare God’s promise about my healing that “I will not die, but live and declare the works of the Lord”, Psalm 118:17.

A Merry Heart Heals

Did you know that a merry heart, a happy heart heals? In Proverbs 17:22 it says, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” A merry heart, a heart that is filled with gladness and joy is like taking medicine and it heals the physical body, but an afflicted or wounded spirit causes the physical body to dry up, to wither away or to decay from the inside out.

As we study the Word of God we see how the spirit, soul and body are intertwined. When the spirit (the eternal being) and soul (the mind and the emotions) are distraught the physical body suffers. Jesus Christ tells us in John 16:33, These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

He tells us that in this world we will face difficult times. We will all experience pressure, anguish, persecution, and times of trouble. These difficult times are not designed by God, but are brought upon us by our enemy satan. As it says in John 10:10a The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. Our enemy, satan is constantly looking for a way to steal, to kill and to destroy us. And these times of tribulation can cause great stress on the physical body and can make us sick.

But despite all of life’s tribulation we can find rest in His presence, and with these words of comfort, “but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” He is saying to us to take courage because He conquered, and won the victory for us at Calvary. In John 10:10b, He says, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

We can live an abundant life, a life of victory even in the midst of trials by choosing joy. In Nehemiah 8:10 it says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. This joy is our defense against the attacks of the enemy. And every time we choose joy we are choosing to take a supernatural medicine that heals the physical body. So create a merry heart, choose joy over sorrow, fill your heart with gladness, allow no room for depression, live life and laugh!

The Church Needs to Offer Healing Again

If we want to see a mighty move of the Holy Spirit filled with healing and miracles, then we need to teach the full Gospel of Jesus Christ and give an opportunity for the people to be healed.

I remember many years ago I visited a Church in the US with a friend, and during the worship service I saw a man in a wheelchair that was paralyzed from the waist down, and the rest of his body was distorted. As the Spirit of the Lord started to move, I saw this man raise his twisted arm up to acknowledge his adoration to the Lord. Tears ran down my face, as my spirit felt grieved for this man.

My heart ached within me for two reasons. The first reason, physically he was weak, but his spirit was strong. Yet, he was trapped inside of a broken body, and was in need of a miracle. The second reason my heart felt sad is that I know that with a prayer of faith he could be set free and healed, but he and the others that he came with were whisked out the door before the service ended. The presence of the Holy Spirit was present to heal, but no opportunity was offered to this man, or to anyone else for that matter. And even though this incident happened many years ago, many Churches are the same today.

The other day I had an in-depth conversation with a pastoral friend concerning faith and healing.  We were discussing the following questions, “Why are people in the Church so sick?”  “Why is it so difficult for Christians in the US to receive healing?”  And “What is it going to take to have a mighty move of God with supernatural healing and miracles manifesting on a regular basis?”

My response to these questions all revolve around the theme of faith.  Our faith must be stirred in order to receive healing. When I say that our faith must be stirred, I am not referring to a moment when emotions are high. Faith hasn’t anything to do with emotions. Faith is trust. And we need to be able to trust in God and His Word to receive healing.

If the Church is not willing to teach about God’s supernatural healing power, then the people will come to the service without any expectations to receive healing from God. And they will return to their homes just as they came, weak and sick.  If we, as individuals do not read and study the Bible concerning healing we will not be able to trust in God’s promises that His healing power has been made available for us today. Therefore, we will suffer and die prematurely because we do not understand God’s will to heal us.

God is not withholding His healing power from the people of the United States.  The manifestation of divine healing is not given because people are poorer or have greater needs than others. It’s not supernaturally dispersed because one lives in a certain region of the world. The reason healing does manifest more readily in certain parts of the world is because the Word of God for healing and miracles is being taught in those lands on a regular basis. Therefore, the faith of the people is developed and they readily receive their healing miracle.

In order to develop our faith or trust in God to receive healing we need to hear His Word concerning healing. If the Church desires a mighty move of God within her midst with signs and wonders following, then she must be willing to open up the Bible and teach the full Gospel of the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ, which includes healing and miracles, and then offer the opportunity to be healed. We, as individuals need to be responsible too, and read and study God’s Word for ourselves, and stir up our own faith to receive His healing  power into our bodies, or to release it to others.

If we will saturate ourselves and the land in which we live with the Word of God concerning healing, then faith for healing will arise and healing will manifest.

The Bible tells us in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the  word of God.”

Leaders, God’s People Want Healing

Leaders, God’s people want healing, and they also want to know how to have faith so that others receive their healing too. They are done with living in defeat. And this is something we should all agree upon. It’s time we take up the shield of faith, and the sword of the Spirit and  put on the rest of our attire and fight the good fight of faith, defeat our enemy, the devil, and win the battles in this life. God’s people want healing.

We need to stop making excuses as to why some do not receive their manifested healing, and move forward in the spirit of truth so that others can receive their healing. Repentance needs to come to the Church, God’s people, for a lack of faith, a lack of revelation that only comes from hearing and hearing the Word of God. Haven’t we lost enough members of our family to sickness and disease? When are we going to look in the mirror of God’s Word and say, “Father, forgive us. We have missed the mark in this area, we have not taught ourselves how to believe the promises in Your Word. And many have suffered needlessly as a result of our lack of faith.”

Are we really willing to turn our backs on the redemptive blood of Christ so we can  hold onto our faithless doctrines of unbelief and foolish pride? Are we really willing to look Jesus in the eye and declare to Him that it was His fault that we did not receive our manifested healing on this earth? Are we going to tell Him that it was His fault that we did not train ourselves to believe His redemptive promise for the healing of our spirit, soul, and body? I really don’t believe we will be able to do so then, so why do we take this stance against Him now?

God’s Word plainly tells us in Isaiah 53:4-5 that by His stripes we are healed. He tells us in 1 Timothy 6:12 that we are to fight the good fight of faith. In other words, we are in a battle, but God is not our enemy, He is not withholding our healing from us. Satan is our enemy, he is the one that does not want us to receive our healing. He’s the thief that Jesus warns us about in John 10:10 that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy us, and he uses his mass weapons of destruction, sickness and disease against us. Why? Because he hates us, he is jealous of us. He lost his position in the realm of spiritual order, and he wants us to do the same–lose in life.

But Jesus, oh, that wonderful Lord and Savior of ours, did everything in His power to undo the wicked works of satan in or lives. And He won the good fight of faith while on this earth so we can walk in His victory while on this earth. He told us in the second part of John 10:10 about Himself, “I have come to give you life, and life in abundance.” When will we take up our responsibility and believe Him? Nowhere in the New Testament did Jesus tell us He would put sickness and disease upon us to teach us a lesson, to punish us, to test our faithfulness to Him. Nowhere is it recorded in the Scriptures that God only heals some, but not all. This type of doctrine is false, and anti Redemption, and it devalues the power of the Blood.

Repentance needs to come to the Church, and it needs to start with the leaders of God’s people. We need to stop teaching people to trust in human reasoning and their 5 senses above God’s Word. We need to stop encouraging people to align themselves with the unbelief of this world. Enough is enough! God’s people want healing. They want leaders who will teach them how to believe again, to give them a reason to trust in their Savior–Jesus Christ. Leaders, get back to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Good News that draws all people onto Himself!

Believers Are Invite In

Jesus is both willing and able to heal, but He gives us the responsibility of a free will. He respects the authority of the house. When the authority of the house surrenders to His ultimate authority, His healing power releases and heals. Let’s look to the following example found in Luke 8:40-56 to understand what I mean.

Here we read the testimony of how a man named Jairus invites Jesus to his house to heal his sick daughter. Jesus agrees to go with him to his house but has another woman to attend to first. In the meantime, Jairus’ daughter dies. When they arrive, Jesus encounters doubt and unbelief. He tries to encourage the people to believe, but they only laugh at Him. But because Jesus has the go-ahead from the authority of that household, Jairus and his wife, He minsters to their daughter.

Before He can do so, He has to kick the doubt and unbelief out. In other words, He makes the doubters leave the room and shuts the door and only allows those who believe with Him–Peter, James, and John and the girl’s parents. He then raises her from the dead.

My question for you is this, “If you had been there at this time, what side of the door would you be on?” Would you be one of the few that Jesus allowed into the room? Or would you be with the majority that thought human reasoning and common sense were greater than the power of faith to raise this girl from the dead? Sometimes we look at these examples in the Bible and forget that these stories are true happenings with real people just like you and me. I believe this situation is taking place over and over again within Christian families everyday all around the world. And yet many are quick to place the blame on God and say it’s not His will to heal this person, and negate their responsibility to believe.

Peter, James and John were 3 out of 12 disciples that were receiving personal training from Jesus about His kingdom ways. The others had the same opportunities to learn how to believe, but they chose to remain outside of Jesus’ inner circle. How about you? What side of the door are you on? As a believer in Jesus do you actually believe in His ways? Are you included in His inner circle because you have trained yourself to believe? Or are you on the wrong side of the door because you believe in your human reasoning more then you do in the sayings and ways of Jesus? These might be tough questions for us to ask ourselves, but they are real and to the point. And they are the type of questions we should be using to judge ourselves with. I don’t know about you, but I desire to be invited into His inner circle, and be apart of His Kingdom ways.

Seizures Healed!

December 26, 2018 Victor writes requesting prayer for his little girl who has been suffering with epileptic seizures for 7 months. He writes, “Dear Becky, please pray for my daughter (3 years plus) who has been suffering epileptic seizure disorder for about 7 months now. I believe in the Spiritual Authority & God’s Grace for Healing upon you Ma & I am confident that my daughter will be completely healed when you pray for her. Thanks Ma.”

I respond with a prophetic prayer of faith for her deliverance and healing. “In the name of Jesus’ I renounce this spirit of death, epilepsy and seizures attacking your daughter. I release the healing power of Jesus to flow in and throughout her brain. I command all pathways that have been dug out in her brain for seizures to follow to be supernaturally erased for the glory of God and no new pathways for seizures may be redug for the glory of God. No more seizures because there is no more epilepsy for the glory of Jesus, amen and amen.”

January 2, 2019 Victor writes to testify of his daughter’s glorious healing. He shares, “Dear Becky, the Almighty God is indeed still in the business of doing the impossible and the miraculous. I can confirm to you that the seizures have all stopped; this is so breathtakingly miraculous. My family & I are completely dazed & awed at the Power of God at work. It just happened just like that. My daughter has regained her perfect state of health. The most astonishing fact is that she got completely healed before we crossed into the New Year. Now, we are confident that she can resume school with her peers after the holidays. Oh, Jesus Christ is indeed the same yesterday, today and forever. We stand amazed at the Power of the Almighty God. To Him be all the Glory, honor and adoration forever and ever. I celebrate the Grace of God upon your life Ma. May God bless and take your ministry to yet more glorious and greater dimensions far beyond your greatest imaginations and expectations. AMEN.”

This is what happens when we put our trust in the redemptive work of Jesus, and use the power of the spoken word and prophesy healing in His name.

Your Words Have Power

What we say over ourselves or what we say to others is important. The Bible is clear in Proverbs 18:21, The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. This power in our words can hurt or  heal, encourage or discourage, build up or  tear down, and we are the ones that choose what type of power we operate in.

Here are a few verses to consider about the power of your words. Take these Scriptures to heart and pray to the Holy Spirit for help in this area.

  • Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips, Psalm 141:3.
  • Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer, Psalm 19:14.
  • The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing, Proverbs 12:18.

The words you speak will determine what happens in your daily life. So choose them wisely. When you align your words with what the Bible says, you will then begin to see the results you so desire.

  • The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit, Proverbs 15:4.
  • Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends, Proverbs 17:9.
  • What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them,” Matthew 15:11.

I don’t believe that most people set out to hurt others with their words. I think sometimes we just don’t hear the pain our words can carry to others. But we can surely learn to recognize the power behind our words with a simple prayer for help from the Holy Spirit.

Dear Holy Spirit,

Help me to hear the words that I speak. Correct me if they are full of death and pain to myself or to others. I desire that my words are pleasing to you and a blessing to the receiver too.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen and amen.
