Do You Believe?

Do you believe in the power of faith to receive miracles? Or does your human reasoning resist God’s supernatural ways? Do you readily surrender to His Spirit? Or do you lock arms against Him?

There are many Christians today that believe in Jesus, but they don’t believe Him. They believe just enough to receive eternal life in Heaven, but shun abundant life while on this earth. And then they wonder where is God in their time of need.

For  a large sector of God’s people it is more comfortable for them to say this sickness and disease come from God, then to trust in His word and declare, “by His stripes we are healed”.

Many would rather live a precarious spiritual life, then abide in the safety of the Almighty. But when calamity comes, and it does come on this fallen earth they shake their fist at God and ask, “Why?”

Jesus’ words are very clear when He says, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.” Matthew 21:21.

And He commissions us with these words, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18.

He says to the woman with the issue of blood, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Luke 8:48.

Jesus challenges Jairus concerning his daughter who died, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” Luke 8:50.

And he said to the blind man, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” Luke 18:42.

To have faith in God is to believe, and to believe is to trust Him. You can trust Him, even when it does not make sense to do so. But when you do, you activate His supernatural power and the miraculous invades your natural realm, and that miracle you so desire comes to pass. It’s time to not just believe in Him, but to believe Him.

How to Remain Faithful

We live in an unfaithful world, even God’s people struggle to remain faithful nowadays. But that does not mean we need to join the ranks of the unfaithful. But how can we remain faithful when many around us are falling from the faith? How do we remain faithful in an unfaithful world?

Our ability to remain faithful in an unfaithful world was so important to Jesus that He prayed the following for His disciples, including you right before He was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane. I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.  I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.  Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.” (John 17:14-19.)

First of all, in this portion of Scripture He gives us the key, we are not of the world. We live on this earth, but we are not to be of its sinful ways. But we are to sanctify ourselves with the washing of His Word, see Eph. 5:26.

He continues on with His prayer to the Father, I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.So often, Christians pray to the Father, “Take me home.” But this is not how we are to pray to escape trials and tribulations. We are to pray as Jesus does, “Father, keep them (me) from the evil one.” As I meditate upon this portion of Scripture it reveals that there is a purpose for us to be on this earth. We are to be about our heavenly Father’s business and win the lost, but if we do not sanctify ourselves in the Word the world will win us over with their sinful ways.

Not only are we to pray, “Father, keep me from the evil one and his ways.” But we are to say no to temptations. How do we accomplish this, especially when the temptations are increasingly stronger in these last days? James teaches us the spiritual plan to victory in every situation in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

  1. We are to submit ourselves to God. Submit in Greek is “hypotássō”, G5293, and it means to obey:—be under obedience (obedient), put under, subdue unto, (be, make) subject (to, unto), be (put) in subjection (to, under), submit self unto. In other words, we are subdue our human will, our fleshly desires, and put ourselves under the authority of God. You may think this is not possible. It is. Why? Because when Jesus walked this earth, He left His God powers in Heaven, and walked this earth just as we do. And because He was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin, we can now overcome temptations as well, see Heb. 4:15. But first, we have to give up our human will, and surrender to the Father’s will, just like Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane when He sweat great drops of blood for us, see Luke 22: 41-44.
  2. Then we are to resist the devil. This word “resist” in the Greek language is “anthístēmi“, G436, and it means to set one’s self against, to withstand, oppose. Remember, we have been given all authority over satan and all of his wicked works, see Luke 10:19. We’ve been given spiritual armor according to Ephesians 6:10-20, which includes a shield of faith to quench all of satan’s fiery darts, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And just as Jesus overcame temptation that evening in the Garden of Gethsemane to run away from His destiny, which was to be slaughtered for our redemption by praying for Himself, we too are to do the same. Pray to the Father, thank Him for giving to us His Holy Spirit, and the supernatural gift of tongues to pray and edify, build ourselves up when we are weak in faith, see 1 Cor. 14:4.
  3. When we faithfully activate God’s spiritual plan of victory we turn the tables and the devil will flee from us. And this word flee in Greek is pheúgō, G5343, means to run away to escape us.

And this is how we remain faithful in an unfaithful world. And being faithful has an everlasting promise for us, the faithful Church in Revelation 3:8-10, “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.  Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

Jesus Understands Betrayal

There is a murderous spirit of betrayal among the Body of Christ today. It is part of the tribulations, difficulties prophesied for these last days in Matthew 24:10-13,And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

Jesus understands the pain of betrayal you are passing through, For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15.) He endured tremendous betrayal for you. “Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” (Matthew 27:3-4.) How it hurt Jesus to know that one of His very own disciples, partner in ministry betrays Him because of money. And I will say to those of you in ministry that feel deep wounds in your spirit because someone who comes along side of you to help and assist you to fulfill your calling turns their back against you because of the love of money –Jesus suffers the pain of their punishment so you can be free from the pain they cause you. Hebrews 6: 4-6 tells us, For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.Their open sin against you, which is really a sin against God crucifies Jesus again and causes Him shame.

And when Judas realizes the evil he has done against our Lord, the leaders do not care. They respond, “What is that to us?” It’s your problem, not ours. This is a painful response that many of God’s people hear today. These are the false leaders, false brethren that we are warned about in Scripture. 2 Timothy 3: 1-7 describes these careless people as follows, But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,  always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

I write this to say, yes, what you are experiencing is real, and it is utterly painful. But remember you are not alone, His Word tells you, “Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” (Hebrews 13:5 AMP.)

And the ashes of His pain transforms your pain into His beauty if you will do as He does, “Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34.) Forgiveness is the only way to true freedom from betrayal. He makes known to us the key to deliverance and healing from the sin of betrayal in Matthew 6:14-15,  “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

The choice belongs to you, you can choose to be free from this pain of betrayal, or you can hang on to it and allow bitterness to destroy you. I pray you will do as Jesus does, and forgive today.

Need to Make a Difficult Decision?

Need to make a difficult decision? Do you feel as if you are backed into a corner and you just don’t know what you should do? We’ve all been in this place one time or another, and although it is not a pleasant place to be there is an answer.

James 1:5 encourages us with these words, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” This word “wisdom”, sophía, G4678 in the Strong’s Concordance means either worldly or spiritual wisdom, and skill in the management of affairs.

This is a bit of good news for those that are in a tough spot or feel as though they are pressed between a rock and a hard place. God wills to lead us in our decision making process. We just need to remember to take the time to ask Him to show us the way. And He also gives to us His Holy Spirit as our guide. “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” John 16:33.

This Scripture clearly states that the Holy Spirit will guide you. It doesn’t say that the Holy Spirit will push or force you into a decision, but that He will show you the way. He does not use fear tactics, but leads you into all truth, not just a bit of the truth concerning a matter, but will reveal all truth pertaining to the situation. But the main point here is that He does not push, He leads you, guides you, woos you, and shepherds you into all truth.

For example, your doctor tells you if you do not take this medicine you won’t get well, but the warning label on the medicine bottle clearly reads this medicine will make you sick. Or worse yet, your doctor tells you the medicine or treatment you are taking is not working, but if you stop taking it you will die. This is a difficult situation to find yourself in, and it demands that you make a quality decision and quickly.

Your doctor is giving it to you straight, as he or she sees it. And in the natural realm the diagnose could be correct, but does it include the ultimate option of faith. Elohim, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are omniscience, all-knowing. They understand the problem and they know how to heal it. God is also omnipotent, all-powerful, and has the ability to make you whole again. Trust and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth concerning healing. Remember, God isn’t moved by time, but by faith. And He only needs one moment to reveal all the truth you need to heal.

Then there are other types of decisions that are not urgent, such as making a large purchase in which you need to borrow more money than you should or would like. What do you do? An old pastor of mine once told the congregation concerning these types of decisions, “If it can’t wait 2 weeks then it probably is not of God”.  This is so true.

I remember when my husband and I were newly married and we had a salesman come to our home trying to sell us cemetery plots. We politely listened to his sales pitch and told him that even though there was wisdom in what he shared with us we could not make an immediate decision but needed time to think about this. The man was so upset and started shouting at us, thinking his nasty tone and meanness would insure him a quick sale. It did not. We activated the godly golden nugget of the 2 week waiting period given to us by our pastor by the leading of the Holy Spirit concerning these types of matters.

Hasty decisions are usually ones that you will regret, and they can cause serious family, relationship, financial, and even health problems. When growing up, my grandma had a plaque hanging on her kitchen wall that said, “The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get!” I often remind myself with those old words of wisdom that hung on her wall.  I also take to heart what Moses says to the people in Numbers 9:8, “Stand still, that I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.” In other words, “Stop, drop to your knees, pray, and find out what God has to say about the matter before calling out your decision.”

If you feel any confusion in your heart concerning the matter, don’t ignore it. This is probably a signal from God that something is not right. Take the time needed to pray through to His peace, because God is not the author of confusion. (See 1 Corinthians 14:33.)

And again I reiterate, the Holy Spirit leads us, He does not force us into a decision as our enemy, satan does. You will save yourself from a whole lot of heartache and negative consequences if you will learn to follow God’s leading, and not respond hastily to the enemy pushing you into a bad decision.

Faith Makes You Whole

You desire healing, but did you ever stop and think that perhaps God wants to do more than just heal you? Let’s read the following testimony of a woman from the Bible that had an issue of blood.

“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.  And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.” Luke 8:43-48.

I find this portion of Scripture fascinating. It is chock-full of revelation concerning healing. Here we have a woman with an issue of blood for 12 years. That’s a long time to be sick. It goes onto say that she spent all her livelihood on physicians and still was not healed.

Perhaps, you have been sick for many years, and spent your living, all your earnings on physicians, medications, treatments, special diets, and still are not healed. This happens all too often, even within the Church today.

But something happened. Somehow, she heard of a great healer, named Jesus Christ. We do not know if she understood who this healer was, but someone said something that caught her attention, that gave her hope to believe that she too could be healed.

“For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. Matthew 9:21. She made a decision to believe, and took action. She made her way through that wild and desperate crowd, bent low and touched the hem of His garment and the healing power went through her body and she was made whole, not just healed, but whole.

Remember, she spent all she had on physicians and they could not make her whole, they could not even heal her condition. But it was by her faith alone that reached out and grabbed hold of her healing.

You may be like this woman today, you’ve tried it all and still are not able to heal. I want to challenge you to examine yourself. Perhaps, it’s not just a physical healing you are in need of, maybe you need to be made whole.

This word “whole” comes from the Greek word, sōzō, and it means to save, deliver, protect, preserve, do well, and make whole. It reaches into all 3 parts of our being, the spirit, soul, and physical body.

To be healed in spirit is to have your sins forgiven and have eternal life in Heaven with Jesus Christ. When the soul, (mind and emotions) are healed, you are set free from demonic strongholds, whether those strongholds are sinful behavior, oppression or possession from demons, Jesus paid the price once and for all so your mind and emotions can be healed and at peace. And by the whippings of Jesus, Isaiah 53:4-5, you can be free and healed from sickness and disease. You can be made whole by your faith in His atoning blood.

Is Anointing Oil Necessary for Healing?

Some people use anointing oil when praying for the sick, while others don’t use it at all. Is it actually necessary to use it at all for healing? Let’s look to the Word to see what it says about this.

Jesus sent out the 12 disciples by twos with authority to preach the Word, cast out demons, and anoint the sick with oil so that they would heal, see Mark 6:7,12-13. This is how we are to evangelize the world; it demonstrates God’s compassion and power to the lost and readies their hearts to receive Him as Lord and Savior.

Anointing with oil is not used only with the unbeliever, but also within the Church, specifically for those who need the added strength of someone stronger in the faith for healing. God has instructed the sick to call upon the elders and have them anoint them with oil for healing as it says in James 5:14, Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”

The actual healing power isn’t in the oil; it doesn’t possess magical powers. In the natural realm it’s an act of obedience to the Word of God and a physical point of contact for the receiver. In the spiritual realm, it’s a symbol of the power of the Holy Spirit. The act of anointing is a supernatural act of releasing the power of the Holy Spirit for healing.

Does the Holy Spirit have me anoint people with oil for healing? Sometimes He does, and other times he doesn’t. If we will learn to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, then we will know how He desires to move through us in a given situation.

A Thankful Heart Heals

While preparing for Thanksgiving Day celebrations don’t forget to be thankful. Be thankful to God for the great things He has done for you.

Train yourself to wake up every morning with a thankful heart. Before you get out of bed, thank Him. Say, “Thank You, Father, because this is the day that you have made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Thank the Lord often for your rich Salvation. Whisper to Him throughout the day, “Jesus, I thank You, for saving me from Hell, satan, and from myself.”

Graciously thank  Jehova-Jireh  for your daily provision like this, “Thank You for my daily bread,  for this roof over my head, for these clothes to wear, and that all my needs are met in You.”

Everyday, give thanks to Jehova-Rapha, your great physician, who is able and wills to heal you in spirit, soul, and in physical body. Boldly declare during the day, “Thank You, Jehova-Rapha because by Your stripes I am healed.”

Thank Jehova-Nissi for being your banner that declares victory in all situations. Learn to give the victory shout , “I am more than a conqueror!”

Regardless of the situation that you face, there is always something to be thankful for. And I believe a thankful heart heals. Being thankful is a form of praise, and words of praise chip away at all forms of bondage. And whether a bondage is hidden or known it keeps you in a self-made prison, and thankfulness is a key that unlocks the door and sets you free.

So, start to thank the Lord today. Release yourself from the bonds that have you bound. Release God’s salvation, healing, provision, love, joy, and peace in your life today. Allow thankfulness to heal you.

Get Tough with Satan

You and your loved ones have been suffering and feeling defeated for quite some time now. You begin to believe the words of the enemy that continually beat you down. He whispers his dirty lies, that it is too late, there’s no hope, and that it’s over. Sound about right?

You know you do not have to put up with his bullying. God has given you everything you have need of to overcome his wickedness. And sickness and disease are part of his evil ways.

Don’t you think the enemy has been pushing you around long enough? It’s time to get tough and take action against him. You are in the midst of spiritual warfare. So, place your helmet of salvation back upon your head, and allow His sozo power to heal, preserve, and make you whole again in spirit, soul, and in body, see Luke 17: 11-19. Tighten the belt of truth, God’s Word concerning healing around your waist, because it’s God’s truth that sets you free, see John 8:32. Make sure your breastplate of righteousness, Jesus’ redemptive work for you is not falling off, “God presented Him [Jesus] as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood,” Romans 3:25.  Pick up your shield of faith and fight.  Believe God’s Word that declares, “By His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5.  And with the sword of the Spirit declare, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” Psalm 118:17. And be certain that your shoes are properly fitted and ready for battle with the gospel of peace, see John 14:27. And don’t forget to pray in faith believing that God is not only able, but wills to heal you, see Eph. 6, 18, Jas. 5:15, Lk. 5:12-13. And having done all of these things, stand strong and firm, unmovable in your faith, and receive your miracle from God, see Ephesians 6:13.

This is how you fight your enemy, and this spiritual toughness wins every time.

Pray for One Another

After touring the amazing sites each day on our recent tour of the Holy Land, the ladies and I would meet in my hotel room and we would pray for one another. It was a beautiful time of fellowship filled with love and understanding. It took time for the ladies to feel safe enough to open up and be free to honestly share from their hearts, but in time, and with a little encouragement they did.

James 5:16 admonishes us to , “Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

When we confess our faults to another, we make ourselves vulnerable to them, we openly reveal a weakness or wrong doing that causes us shame or embarrassment. It’s not an easy thing to do, and hopefully we use wisdom to be able to discern who is trustworthy and who is not. But for the sake of this lesson, let’s assume  we share what’s on our heart with a safe person, or group of people.

Oftentimes, when people share their deepest hurts someone else will give an encouraging word not to give up, and there isn’t anything wrong with this, except it is forgetting an important element to healing –prayer. According to James’ teaching on healing we are to confess our faults, then we are to pray for one another.

And while on this topic, let’s not forget that we are to confess (our) faults, our weaknesses. It’s not the time to gripe an complain about everyone else, but to examine our own hearts so we can heal.

Why is this so important? Because truth sets us free. It releases us from the bondage of pride, self-pity, vengeance, and entitlement that blind us spiritually, and from the lies that the enemy holds over us. John 8:32 says, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

And when we pray for one another, we are to pray the prayer of faith. The kind that puts forth power, and activates the mercy and compassion of God. To pray a glorious sounding prayer and then add the tagline, #if it be your will, is declaring that you do not fully believe your own prayer. The Word of God is very clear about this point, But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:6-8. Whether we are asking for God’s wisdom as in this portion of Scripture above, or healing, provision, or for something else, we need to pray in faith. Believe and trust that God is faithful.

When we honestly confess our weaknesses, and pray with faith, then according to James 1:16 we can heal. This word heal, in Strongs G2390, iaomai  means to cure, heal, make whole, to free from error and sins, and / or to bring about (one’s) salvation.

And this healing process was so beautifully demonstrated on our recent tour of Israel with all the ladies in the group. As we willingly did what James 5:16 admonishes, individuals were set free from the bondage of years of deep pain, emotional scars, rejection, and confusion. And revelation knowledge came forth via the gifts of the Holy Spirit as we confessed and prayed for one another. Just as our group did, the Lord wants all of His people to open up and confess their faults one to another, pray in faith, and heal in Jesus’ name.

Will Someone Pray for Me?

I was standing waist deep in the Jordan River baptizing the ladies who came with me on the recent trip to Israel, when all of a sudden I heard a woman cry out as loud as she could, “Will someone pray for me?” I turned around and walked over to her and she said to me, “I have stage 4 cancer.” I responded, “And I am a healing evangelist.” The woman began to weep, she knew the Lord heard her cries.

In Jesus’ name, I renounced the spirit of death, cancer, tumors, pain, weakness, and fear, and released the Spirit of Life to flow throughout her entire body, and in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit she was baptized in the Jordan River.

Her son who brought her to the Jordan River that day thanked me for ministering to his mother.

This is a beautiful testimony that demonstrates God’s faithfulness, mercy, and compassion towards His people. It also shows us how God wills to work out the intricate details to bring the answer to our faith-filled prayers. The hand of God was definitely involved in this divine encounter.

But it pains my spirit to know that people are so desperate for a healing touch that they will travel long distances, cry out to a crowd of complete strangers if someone would please pray for them. And yet, I see this time and time again. People have to search high and low for someone that has the faith to believe and pray with them for healing.

Let’s be bold, and make ourselves readily available to join our faith with others in need, and minister hope and healing to them in the name of Jesus.
